Wasn’t this made with an alligator before?

nicosloft04 Mar 28, 2026 +834
Yes. Crawl (2019)

Earlvx129 Mar 28, 2026 +264
Crawl was a good one!
264
blaz138 Mar 28, 2026 +117
I expected absolutely nothing from Crawl and it kind of blew me away. It really had no business being that good
117
Samus_Arachnid Mar 29, 2026 +18
Yeah we randomly watched in theaters without knowing anything about it other than Alligators, pleasantly surprised.
18
JaydedGaming Mar 29, 2026 +6
Ahhhh shit I'm terrified of murky water and the wildlife that lives in it. I've avoided this until now but if it's actually that good I might have to give it a try.

pumpkins21 Mar 29, 2026 +1
My husband likes creature features and dragged me to the theater to see it. Didn’t expect much but I liked it!
1
Haggisboy Mar 28, 2026 +58
Crawl was directed by French horror maestro Alexandre Aja. Great film.
58
crumble-bee Mar 29, 2026 +8
He also did the excellent the hills have eyes and piranha 3d - both films that punch way above their weight
8
Little_View_6659 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Growing up in the seventies I thought piranha and quicksand would be bigger threats to my life than they turned out to be lol.
1
TravelingHomeless Mar 29, 2026 +1
sounds like you've been blessed to avoid those typical threats to human existence lol
1
allIsOneOfCourse Mar 29, 2026 +8
high tension was awesome!

Little_View_6659 Mar 29, 2026 +1
I feel like this movie would freak me out for years. I have the biggest fear of crocodiles. Took me like years to realize that. When I was little I’d have nightmares every time we’d go to the reptile house at the zoo. As an adult I went to this aquarium to see this giant croc…nightmares started again. So, I’m terrified of crocodiles.😂
1
CrissBliss Mar 28, 2026 +31
Yeah I really liked that
31
BobHopeSpecial Mar 28, 2026 +12
It was great. Fantastic surround sound design too if you have a good home theater system.
12
Palerion Mar 29, 2026 +10
Darn, I really did enjoy that movie. I always find myself craving good horror/thriller movies to watch with the wife (*leaning towards thriller, not like slashers or SAW*), but we only find something that interests us maybe a couple times a year.

Masterpiece.

RrentTreznor Mar 28, 2026 +18
My wife has a fear of essentially any kind of water based fish or reptile. I took her to this without explaining and she cried the whole way home. Just my gf at the time, but that film almost changed the whole trajectory of our lives. No regrets. Fun theater experience.
18
SlowmoSauce Mar 28, 2026 +22
I’m more afraid of land based fish myself.

Marky – “Even if you weren’t in my food chain, I would go out of my way to attack you. If I were a lion and your were a tuna I would swim out into the middle of the ocean and friggin eat you! And then, I’d bang your tuna girlfriend.” Will – “Ok, first off, a lion…swimming in the ocean? Lions don’t even like water. If you placed it near a river, or some sort of fresh water source, that’d make sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, a 20 ft wave, I’m assuming its off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a full, grown, 800 lb tuna with his 20 or 30 friends. You lose that battle. you lose that battle nine times out of ten. And guess what, you wandered into our school, of tuna and we now have a taste of blood! We’ve talked, to ourselves. We’ve communicated and said, ‘you know what? lion tastes good. Lets go get some more lion.’ We’ve developed a system, to establish a beachhead and aggressively hunt you and your family. And we will corner your, your pride, your children, your offspring…” Marky – “How ya gonna to do that?” Will – “We will construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp. We will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. Its not going to be days at a time, an hour, hour 45. No problem. That will give us enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get more oxygen and then stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You are out gunned and outmanned.

Yeah! And wasn’t there talk about a sequel some time, too? My first reaction was that this is finally it!
3
omnipotentseal Mar 28, 2026 +93
It was also made before with a tornado.
93
007meow Mar 28, 2026 +8
Hungry tornadoes?

Should have been called Hurrigator and I will die on this hill.
3
RentalGore Mar 28, 2026 +10
Crawl did it better than I imagine this will be.
10
Prestigious_Duck6964 Mar 28, 2026 +10
You mean to tell me Netflix is going to throw in dumbfuckedly expository lines like “the water is rising because of the storm and so that’s how the sharks get in and now they are HERE” ?
10
RentalGore Mar 29, 2026 +1
We need a new term for Netflix exposition only necessary because the viewer is on their device. It’s the absolute worst.
1
HorizontalBob Mar 28, 2026 +19
A good version of the story is Bait.
19
Perpete Mar 28, 2026 +36
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bait_3D Yep. Bait was 7 years younger than Crawl. And with a shark. Quite possible there was already similar stories before.
36
Prestigious_Duck6964 Mar 28, 2026 +10
Oh my god the Bait synopsis is incredible
10
Perpete Mar 28, 2026 +6
Saw it once around its release. As far as it goes as a shark movie, it's not too bad.
6
No_Cauliflower9393 Mar 28, 2026 +4
There was Burning Bright 2 years before Bait. And that one had a hurricane, an autistic kid, and a tiger.
4
QPWOEIRUTYTURIEOWP Mar 28, 2026 +2
I remember liking that move but Daniel Wyllie's acting in it was hilariously bad.
2
Prestigious_Duck6964 Mar 28, 2026 +5
Deep Water, Beast of War, big moment for sharks right now
5
pauloh1998 Mar 28, 2026 +5
also, to some degree, SHARKNADO
5
Prestigious_Duck6964 Mar 28, 2026 +4
Can we have one where the sharks fight the alligators?
4
Melodic-Lab3337 Mar 28, 2026 +3
I was thinking the same thing!
3
H3000 Mar 29, 2026 +3
Yes but it was incredibly dangerous on set having an alligator as a director.
3
Kalabula Mar 28, 2026 +2
Ya. And it was really good. I’m down for the shark version now. Maybe next year we can do the snake version.
2
Amanee97 Mar 29, 2026 +4
Crawl was amazing!
4
Alternative_Ad7459 Mar 28, 2026 +553
But I’ve already seen Crawl

“Crawl” was awesome. If this is anywhere near as good, I’m in.
132
Wouldyoulistenmoe Mar 28, 2026 +37
And Under Paris
37
mileseverett Mar 28, 2026 +60
Under paris was a psyop, there was so many listnook posts about how good it was and then I watched it and it was one of the most nonsensical movies I watched that year, it's so bad its good kinda vibes
60
gbp19 Mar 29, 2026 +14
Any time a foreign movie has general hype I try to check it out; couldn’t believe how bland it was haha didn’t regret watching it but idk how it garnered so much interest
14
AurynLuna Mar 29, 2026 +2
That one was so horrible and impossible to watch.
2
Practical-Level-6265 Mar 29, 2026 +3
I haven’t seen this movie but… I’m willing to bet you already saw the better version of it
3
heyjayhaynes Mar 28, 2026 +243
Is this not just Crawl (2019) but with sharks?…
243
WrapMyBeads Mar 28, 2026 +64
It’s a reminder that we haven’t had a Sharknado
64
xuedad Mar 28, 2026 +19
So this movie is just Sharknado without tornado
19
TheCervixPounder_69 Mar 29, 2026 +8
But with a hurricane. So same thing
8
xuedad Mar 29, 2026 +2
😂 f****** hell. They really made a same show but used the thesaurus to call it a different title
2
Ijusthadtosayit55 Mar 29, 2026 +10
Yeah, that movie was called Bait (2012), and actually had a shark.
10
haynesholiday Mar 28, 2026 +33
Crawl was just Jaws in a house (with a gator)
33
Nefthys Mar 29, 2026 +4
And possibly a pregnant woman who gives birth (is that a baby in the image)?
4
keznaa Mar 29, 2026 +2
Yeah looks like a new born. I was thinking either she just gave birth and it starts with her either in the hospital or at home, or she gives birth during the chaos.
2
Far_Appearance3888 Mar 28, 2026 +3
Which would be awesome, and this why you are asking, I’m sure!
3
tosrelen Mar 28, 2026 +151

Also, Tornado and then shark is a concept but when Tornado AND Shark has already been made.

Why not just do a sharknado cocain bear snake on the plain remix

Spermageddon?

First f*** of a teenager. And the life of his sperm trying to fecondate the egg. Rated R. Crude. Trash humour. If that titillates you, it's not bad. Girlfriend liked it and she was the one willing to see it.
5
sorestgore Mar 29, 2026 +6
It's his first f*** and the sperm are successful? Oh boy
6

Unironically a good movie.

I actually enjoyed Violent Night lol.
27
jimmypfromthe5thgala Mar 29, 2026 +7
Sequel hits this December.
7
ignoresubs Mar 29, 2026 +2
Me too, although I’m a little concerned they let a bit too much time pass. VN had strong WOM, they really should have capitalized on it and got the sequel out in at least 2024, as the first one came out in ‘22. I’ll be there to see it but hope it works out.
2
SuitedFox Mar 29, 2026 +8
Dead snow fucks. Hard.
8
Personal_Comb_6745 Mar 29, 2026 +6
Violent Night was pretty good. The plot's basically Die Hard, but replace Bruce Willis with Santa and Carl Winslow with a little girl, but it's fun. Also written by the guys who write the Sonic movies, funnily enough.
6
Comic_Book_Reader Mar 28, 2026 +4
And also The Trip.

Yes but with a baby!! I hope its realistic where its shitting and crying every 1-2 hours.
11
louie3723jr Mar 28, 2026 +48
I’ve always wondered why films like these get made and produced while studios sit on like thousands of very good original scripts.
48
Hummer77x Mar 28, 2026 +63
Because dipshits like me read that description and are like “f*** yes
63
Formal_Potential2198 Mar 29, 2026 +4
Its horror The director and/or the producer probably has connections Its Netflix
4
tosrelen Mar 28, 2026 +8
Dumb shit means money, in many fields
8
Risperidone- Mar 29, 2026 +6
Horror is pretty « easy » for studios. They usually make profit because many people into horror dont care that much about script, screenplay, cinematography and things like that.
6
Gummy-Worm-Guy Mar 28, 2026 +5
I mean, the director has proven himself as reliable and wrote the script himself, so he clearly pitched the project. No reason not to green light it.
5
tonitalksaboutit Mar 29, 2026 +59
She looks to be holding an infant, so HARD PASS from me fam.
59
Sarcastic_Cat13 Mar 29, 2026 +9
I just read that the MC is pregnant and in labor during the movie so she gives birth it looks like from the poster but yeah hard pass for me too. Ever since having my son two years ago, I can't really do scary/thriller stuff if involves a baby. Too emotional.
9
aangsmol Mar 28, 2026 +13
Anti-shark propaganda 😤
13
fastfreddy68 Mar 28, 2026 +49
I don’t do movies that have infants in peril. There’s all the other reasons not to see this, but mostly that.
49
Born_Fee_840 Mar 28, 2026 +22
Yep, same. Ever since having kids I just cant do it. I'll never watch this film.
22
SuitedFox Mar 29, 2026 +4
That’s most movie for me too, but I power through some (Hamnet) because I love movies and sometimes feeling emotions is a good thing me lol but not this. Also, the last Netflix shark movie I watched, Under Paris, was dogshit.
4
Queasy_Watch478 Mar 29, 2026 +3
why? it's not like they're ever gonna have the guts to actually have the infant get hurt lol. it's annoying to me for that opposite reason. it's just there to be whiny and fake danger when you know nothings even gonna happen to it.
3
greenpill98 Mar 28, 2026 +15
Didn't they do this with alligators a few years ago?
15
melancholy_dood Mar 29, 2026 +2
Yep! Everything old is new again!…
2
Whitealroker1 Mar 28, 2026 +4

They made this movie already, it was called Crawl and it was actually pretty solid.
11

2

But I’ve already seen Bait (2012)
2

Djimon Honsou fans out here suffering He used to be one of my favourite actors and I was really excited for his career, but I feel like he hasn't had a single good role since Blood Diamond. Just all these small, nothing roles where he usually gets killed off within moments
2
latelyimawake Mar 28, 2026 +2
I feel like Phoebe Dynevor needs a better agent. She’s a good actress and coming off of Bridgerton she had so much juice. Now she’s just doing B-movies.
2
Sea-Ad-7723 Mar 29, 2026 +2
Shark movies are so over rated. Humans are the bad guys, not the sharks.
2
Queasy_Watch478 Mar 29, 2026 +2
STOP DEMONIZING SHARKS!!!! :(
2
DivinityPen Mar 28, 2026 +12
Oh for F***'S SAKE, not THIS kind of movie again. So f****** tired of movies that do nothing but contribute to the stupid-ass stigma. And if you really *had* to make a movie involving the more aggressive species of sharks, why the f*** go for a Great White? Bull Sharks or Oceanic Whitetips would be much more appropriate. But clearly not, since Great Whites are the ones that bring Jaws nostalgia 🙄
12
Accurate_Mobile9005 Mar 28, 2026 +18
Bull sharks make more sense anyways as they can swim in freshwater as well.
18
EmperorAcinonyx Mar 29, 2026 +2
as if the average person gives a shit. they use great whites for these movies because they look big and tough, and that's really all they need to do.  who is genuinely afraid of sharks lol? a vast majority of people will never even come close to encountering one
2
PaulOwnzU Mar 28, 2026 +9
I'm not sure why people are even scared of sharks anymore with how ridiculously overdone they are in film, especially as you said with great whites. It's clear they're just trying to ride off Jaws again instead of making something new. Doesn't help we already got this with Crawl. Which was actually unique by using a far more aggressive animal that'd make sense. Using a great white for this premise is so dumb
9
Stoned_Gandalf420 Mar 28, 2026 +7
The original Jaws set the golden standard for a Shark movie. It scarred the f*** out of me, I have a hard time being in ANY body of water to this day, Galeophobia is no joke. The only one that has remotely came close to the quality as the Original jaws is deep blue sea for how entertaining the movie was. I agree though, the author of Jaws actually said he regretted ever having made the book due to the devastating cultural and ecological impact the later movie adaptation had on Sharks worldwide. We kill millions of sharks a year, compared to what, 5 humans on average annually?
7
Conscious-Health-438 Mar 28, 2026 +2
Do you think people hurt sharks because of shark movies? Do you think if the roles were reversed, sharks would ban movies that were mean about sharks? Why do you give a shit about this subject? Genuinely curious
2
masnosreme Mar 28, 2026 +3
This is just Sharknado but more boring.
3

Sharknami

The shark looks so much smaller under the water than what’s implied by the fin above water
1
Sufficient_Focus4174 Mar 28, 2026 +1
If you are making a shark movie, the MOST important thing is to do a good job making the sharks convincing. From the trailer, they cheaped out on the shark.
1
Stoenk Mar 28, 2026 +1
Ah yes gentrified sharknado
1
AbbreviationsLow1393 Mar 28, 2026 +1
This was Kevin smith’s pitch for a jaws movie
1

There’s a movie exactly like this on Tubi where Joey Lawrence from TVs Blossom surfs into the top floor of a house to kill the antagonist shark with a tv antenna and yes it’s as good as it sounds

I misread the title as 'Trash' and wondered why they were in rubbish infested water for a good minute... To my defense it is almost 3 am here.

Hmm, I do remember watching somewhere something very similar years ago... And also remember that Quentin Tarantino loved that movie most among thrillers and horrors in that year.

I’m obsessed with movies like this but I do hope it doesn’t hurt the shark population even more. Humans already kill 80-100 million sharks annually and we desperately need them to have healthy oceans! With that said, I can’t wait for this movie.

Semi related but Crawl had a cool guerrilla marketing campaign in New Orleans where they placed posters around the city that were the Alligator Warning sign from the official poster. Got me to see it!

Just gotta say that I got invited to those free test screenings for this movie multiple times throughout the last year, way more than I usually get for one movie, and I was under the impression that this would be coming to theaters. Now that I see it's on Netflix, I'm not sure how well that bodes for this movie. It was also named multiple different titles every time I got invited but I guess they settled on that.

So it’s literally just Crawl but with sharks? I’m 100% in. If Tommy Wirkola brings half the energy he had for Violent Night

I'm glad sharks are making a comeback after a brief hiatus. This is the second one I've read about recently.

Can we please stop f****** villifying sharks for once? We kill thousands of times more sharks than sharks kill us.

ralo229 Mar 29, 2026 +1
I misread this as Trash.

Interesting_Olive_92 Mar 29, 2026 +1
Literally the first thing I thought was “didn't Crawl already do this?” Glad other people remembered!

Wonder-Machine Mar 29, 2026 +1
I saw a woman and baby in the water and read “trash” and was like…. wtf is this
