Does this mean that Adventure Bay will have properly trained emergency services for a while?

Vondi Mar 30, 2026 +141
I remember watching the movie where the pups leave for the City and thinking the Bay must be deserted by now with all the unchecked buffoonery that must've happened by now.

BiBoFieTo Mar 30, 2026 +129
Imagine calling 911 because of a brain aneurysm and having a 10-year-old and his team of puppies show up to help.
129
Vondi Mar 30, 2026 +58
They kind of make fun of themselves in that city movie, where some passing trucker has an accident and begs a passerby to call the fire department or police and the passerby goes "Here we call the Paw Patro!" and the guy's just "What the hell are you talking about"

LtSoundwave Mar 30, 2026 +60
I don’t care if they have two hands or four paws. If they can utilize endovascular coiling or flow diversion, they’re good enough for me.
60
BiBoFieTo Mar 30, 2026 +49
Sorry, they don't have any training. Rocky will arrive to ensure your corpse is properly recycled.

Marshall is the team medic and, while he will trip over everything in your house, he has yet to lose a patient.

That just means he knows where all the patients are…god rest their souls

It's almost like they're The Avengers of their world or something.

we_are_sex_bobomb Mar 30, 2026 +13
Well since they had already hired Ryder for emergency services I assume he simply subcontracted other companies to fill the gap in their absence. This isn’t “leaving” per se, but rather Ryder’s ambitious expansion of the Paw Patrol corporation.

Vondi Mar 30, 2026 +2
Ever the Empire builder
2
makemeking706 Mar 30, 2026 +6
Most of the problems are caused by the mayor from the neighboring town, so it was probably not too bad since he was in jail when they left for the city.

You ever see the [SNL skit](https://youtu.be/pBFIqRSsixE?si=Og8X8pYR_ltjcyVk) There’s also either snl or the onion where they suspend Chase because of racial discrimination
21
BrotherOfTheOrder Mar 30, 2026 +36
As an adult my brain can’t ever let go of the following: - where are Ryders parents? - how does he have all these resources and tech? - how does he pay for it, or who pays for it? - where are the police? I know it’s a kids show but I can’t help but wonder what kind of discussions went on in pitch meetings and writers rooms.

Vondi Mar 30, 2026 +33
in the movie he says they're funded by sales of Paw Patrol merchandise, which would explain the prices.

fallenelf Mar 30, 2026 +17
My toddler is obsessed with Paw Patrol. I've had these same questions; the show does answer some of them, and my headcannon fills in the gaps. 1. Ryder's parents are hinted at in the first movie in Adventure City. When he first finds Chase, I believe he's out walking with them. I assume that shortly after finding Chase, Ryder was labelled as a 'child genius' (more on this later). 2. Ryder is a child genius. We know the world is littered with powerful children, and many of them are geniuses (Codi Gizmodi, the villain from All Paws on Deck). He invents/creates most of the technology used by himself and the Paw Patrol, which is consistent with other geniuses in the world. 3. Headcannon - Ryder initially got all of his funding from a government grant. The grant circled around his technology and puppy training system (likely starting with Chase, given the events of the first movie). This helped solidify a grant to form a team of puppies to assist with emergencies in Adventure Bay. When the grant expired, he turned to merchandising (first movie) and government contracts. The Paw Patrol also serves as private security/emergency force for wealthy socialites in foreign countries, giving Ryder/Paw Patrol access to even more capital. Basically, they're now flush with cash. 4. In Adventure Bay, all police and emergency functions are contracted to the Paw Patrol; it's a steady stream of income that allows for further scientific research and inventions. Paw Patrol also subcontracts certain efforts to Adventure City. This consistent flow of income allows for constant innovation and invention. All said, there's a movie or mini-series here for older kids explaining how the Paw Patrol formed. Something like: Ryder being so intelligent that his parents don't know how to handle him. His parents are unable to keep up with his intelligence. His teachers know he's gifted, but he's unfocused. He's constantly half-inventing things before moving on to something else - no one knows what to do. On a trip to Advensure City, Ryder finds Chase, scared and abandoned in the street. For the first time, Ryder commits. He develops a structured training system around communication, problem-solving, and task execution. Chase responds at an extraordinary level, showing intelligence far beyond a typical dog. Ryder begins inventing equipment for Chase to control, with the equipment growing increasingly complex (and eventually voice/bark-activated). Ryder applies for a government grant set aside for child geniuses to expand his research. He rescues more puppies with high intellect and distinct strengths and begins training them. After a year of training, the Paw Patrol is officially established in Adventure Bay, initially handling small, innocuous jobs for the city. A major disaster occurs, and the Bay's emergency services can't handle it. The Paw Patrol jumps in, handling the emergency quickly and efficiently. The grant expires, but Ryder secures a contract with Adventure Bay, allowing him to expand his research and formally establish the Paw Patrol as the policing and emergency services contractors for the Bay. The TV show starts after all of this, with the citizens of Adventure Bay becoming extremely complacent given the high proficiency of their emergency services team.

Paw Patrol but with them being police being overly violent with a suspect would be an amazing parody.

Chase is on the police force.

Minimumsafedistance Mar 31, 2026 +1
The thing I've never seen discussed is how the pup packs function. I head canoned it was some sort of Doc Ock neural link that's connected to the pup tags... but then you get to Rubble and Crew and these random other dogs with no connection to Ryder have the exact same tech. Did they have to get those from Ryder? Are they proprietary? Does that tech only work on canine physiology? HOW DO THE PUP PACKS WORK?
1
sever_the_connection Mar 31, 2026 +1
All the crime is committed by Humpdinger anyway
1
PlatinumKanikas Mar 30, 2026 +146
Goddamn it, Humdinger! The pups will need to assassinate this guy to finally end his reign of terror.
146
we_are_sex_bobomb Mar 30, 2026 +69
Paw Patrol unfortunately are ultimately intended to protect the oligarchy, not overthrow it. Ryder is one of Humdinger’s biggest political donors. It’s publicly available information which the public simply chooses to ignore.

“Sir our focus group of four-year-olds say Dinosaurs are the coolest thing ever.” “Make it happen.”
243
makemeking706 Mar 30, 2026 +68
It's funny because there is a paw patrol cross over for almost every stereotypical toddler obsession. Dinosaurs being one of the more established already.
68
Sparrowsabre7 Mar 30, 2026 +7
I was saying to my wif ethe other day: why has there not been a space season yet? Seems like an obvious choice when they've had genuine aliens on the show before. Also merpups and dragons and yet space they seem to draw the line at.
7
makemeking706 Mar 30, 2026 +4
Harold has gone into space, and the meteor that gives them mighty powers obviously comes from space, but yeah you're right space has never been the setting. It's always a plot device. Maybe it's too hard to adapt them to that setting?

21
Billybob35 Mar 30, 2026 +15
They already encountered dinosaurs in season 7 of the show, but the shows and movies are in a different continuity, they had gotten powers in the show before the second movie too.
15
Dave3087 Mar 30, 2026 +6
What’s everyone’s favourite Paw Patrol timeline?
6
Billybob35 Mar 30, 2026 +3
Older fans seem to prefer the show's timeline, but the movies are still liked. McKenna Grace's performance as Skye was praised in The Mighty Movie.
3
Sparrowsabre7 Mar 30, 2026 +3
Interesting that Marshall is front and centre in the poster, I wonder if this will be his movie the same way the first was Chase's and the second Skye's. And does that imply the intent to make 6 of these things 😅
3
Billybob35 Mar 30, 2026 +5
Most likely, he seems to be one of the most popular ones. They had a fall festival at my church with trick or treating and a little girl was dressed as Marshall.
5
WisdomOtter Mar 30, 2026 +4
they have powers ??? what does my girl skye have
4
Billybob35 Mar 30, 2026 +3
In the show, she can control weather. In The Mighty Movie, she has high speed flight and super strength. So in the shows she's like Storm, and in the movie she's like Supergirl and Captain Marvel.

I’ve only read the books to my kids and they are just straight trash. Is the show better?
2
Lunar_IX Mar 30, 2026 +6
The show is pretty typical fare for kids; barely any conflict beyond someone causing cartoon trouble and being generally rascally. The movies actually have a plot that tries to add some layers to the characters. It's far from deep and won't be winning any Oscars, but there's some emotional weight to it, at least.

18
ChicagoCowboy Mar 30, 2026 +8
No no see there's a secret land before time underneath adventure bay that the pups discovered one time when trying to stop Mayor Humdinger, its all buttoned up. My kids love paw patrol but I can't remember another cartoon that was so blatantly about selling toys and merch.
8
AvatarIII Mar 30, 2026 +7
Spin master, who make the show, were a toy company first.
7
ChicagoCowboy Mar 30, 2026 +3
This makes sense, I never realized they made the show I thought they were in the credits due to licensing for the toys or something. Yikes.
3
we_are_sex_bobomb Mar 30, 2026 +8
It seems like you’re unfamiliar with the Merpups adventures where the Paw Patrol all get magically turned into mermaids and save Atlantis.
8
Billybob35 Mar 30, 2026 +2
They already encountered dinosaurs in season 7, but they did what another Canadian show "Trailer Park Boys" did and established a separate continuity in the first movie. The pups had already gotten powers too before the movies.
2
RoxasIsTheBest Mar 30, 2026 +2
They jumped the shark a REALLY long time ago. I remember already thinking it had lost its way when I was a kid. It has only become worse and worse.
2
high_everyone Mar 30, 2026 +15
Dammit Humdinger, we told you to not put Chicaletta into the genetic mutator.
15
TimedDelivery Mar 30, 2026 +7
My kids (5 and 8) and very excited and throwing out theories about which pup this movie will focus on (after Chase in the first one and Skye in the second). They’re thinking Rubble based on how much he was in the trailer but I’m sure there’ll be lots more speculation before it comes out. This may not be peak cinema but it’s neat to have something they’re so excited for.
7
Serisrahla Mar 30, 2026 +10
My guess is Marshall based on his position in the poster. Either way the "primary character conflict" in these movies is so silly and contrived. Marshall will finally have to face and overcome his clumsiness to save the Dinos from something horrible (I haven't watched the trailer).
10
jayjaytlk Mar 30, 2026 +3
It's confirmed that Marshall will be the main pup in this one.
3
thuragath Mar 30, 2026 +2
I just hope it isn't Skye who saves the whole blasted world in this one like she did in the first two.
2
longdustyroad Mar 30, 2026 +19
Is this a prequel? They’ve already met Rex a bunch of times and they can drive to the Dino wilds through a cave in the mountain near the lookout.
19
Arkeband Mar 30, 2026 +34
I’m pretty sure, as a passive parent watcher, the canon between the show and the movies isn’t in sync, because the show had a slightly different origin for how they got meteor superpowers.
34
Wompum Mar 30, 2026 +10
Very similar to the Power Rangers movie vs show in the 90s. Same characters and zords, but different origins/canon.
10
Plupandblup Mar 30, 2026 +10
Also, passive parent watcher. The show sucks. The animation is bad and I can't get myself to stomach watching it. The movies though, so much better. If it doesn't happen in the movie it hasn't happened in my eyes.
10
not_vichyssoise Mar 30, 2026 +4
Yeah my kid’s at the stage where the first paw patrol movie is the only film he’ll watch. I’ve tried to get him to switch it up for a while but so far no dice. That said the film is surprisingly watchable, especially compared to the show.
4
snoogans235 Mar 30, 2026 +1
You mean you don’t like that awkward tail wag animation?
1
funktopus Mar 30, 2026 +2
They have superpowers?! My kid aged out right as Everest showed up.
2
longdustyroad Mar 30, 2026 +3
They got superpowers from a meteor or something for a short arc but then they gave them up for whatever reason. I forget the details. They were called Mighty Pups
3
BillJRJ Mar 31, 2026 +1
And then after the Mighty Pups movie, the TV show retconned their powers to match the movie, lol
1
snoogans235 Mar 30, 2026 +1
I like to think they AB test the miniseries shows to see which one will make a good movie. Super charged is the second movie. There’s Dino one, and this is the third. Maybe we’ll get the knights one or monster trucks next
1
jayjaytlk Mar 30, 2026 +13
The movies are in a separate timeline, they meet Rex for the first time here.
13
we_are_sex_bobomb Mar 30, 2026 +5
The movies are semi-canonical remakes of show arcs. It’s like Neon Genesis Evangelion in that way (but probably only in that way).
5
AuryGlenz Mar 30, 2026 +6
Get in the f****** robot, Rocky.
6
we_are_sex_bobomb Mar 30, 2026 +2
Oh god actually the first Paw Patrol movie actually is literally “Get in the robot Shinji” but Chase is the emotionally traumatized child and Ryder is the authority figure thrusting the safety of mankind upon his shoulders. I hate that I spent brain cells on this but I also don’t regret it.
2
AuryGlenz Mar 30, 2026 +1
Damnit. You’re right. I almost put Chase in there instead as well without even really thinking about it.
1
Slayer_of_Goblinns Mar 30, 2026 +3
I’m pretty sure the Paw Patrol cinematic universe is a different reality than the universe in which the show exists because they completely forgot about the snow dog and the jungle dog on the movies and brought some other city dog who’s now a regular in the movies.

pseudoroom Mar 30, 2026 +5
I took my youngest to both previous movies thus far. The last one that was out in theaters was effectively a remake—stretched out over an hour and a half—of a tv episode of the show. Kind of bonkers that the writers couldn't come up with something new. Glad my kid has aged out of this franchise! Now it's all TMNT (a definite improvement in my book).

The animation looks better, at least on the poster. The show looks awful

we_are_sex_bobomb Mar 30, 2026 +4
The movies look pretty good honestly. Chase is an insufferable little shit in the first one but other than that you could do a lot worse for movies to watch with your kids.

Is adding dinosaurs to your franchise like adding a kid to a sitcom?
1
boot2skull Mar 30, 2026 +1
Humdinger thought it was smart to clone dinosaurs for a park in the city and do a half ass job securing them.

They're meeting Rex for the first time again? This is the Mighty Pups situation all over again! Unfortunately my 4 year old doesn't understand the nuances of show cannon and movie cannon.

airfryerfuntime Mar 30, 2026 +1
This movie is going to make 2 billion dollars. It won't make as much as the Bluey movie, but the kids yearn for the CGI dogs.

JamesLikesIt Mar 30, 2026 +1
Wow what a creative title lol

ThePMmike Mar 30, 2026 +1
Looks like this one should be a Marshall focused movie. First was more Chase focused, Second one Sky, now it should be Marshall. My kids will be juiced.

A few years ago, the corner of the Internet I am in made Saw Patrol a meme. My husband and I saw Saw X and then the next day, we saw the Paw Patrol movie. I was stoned out of my mind. He was not. We still somehow had the same experience. It was surreal. The theater smelled weird. We learned Dora the Explorer can control the sun. I have never hated a dog until I encountered the Paw Patrol. The whole vibe was uncanny valley. If it's not obvious already, I'll spell it out: we have no children. We left the theater concluding that any child we do have will not watch Paw Patrol. I still can't describe what the movie was about. But I'm pretty sure that a Charli XCX song played. Though it is equally possible that I was so stoned that I imagined it. It's not the worst movie I saw that year, but it was the weirdest.

Is Marshall the boss now? I thought Chase was the leader.

Shantotto11 Mar 31, 2026 +1
It’s insane to me that Paw Patrol is the last kids TV show to still receive theatrical releases in the US. The second to last was Teen Titans Go in 2017.
