Going after the NFL is hilarious. These southern clowns cannot help themselves. Waste more taxpayer dollars I guess.

It's performative, anyway. They never follow through on this shit, but the headline gets their base excited, and the base doesn't ever bother to check whether anything ever came of it.

The base meaning the clowns who constantly post and comment "that they ain't never watchin' anudder NFL game ever again" but yet every Sunday, they are slamming a 20 pack of Keystone watchin 'dem Boys, because let's be honest ...they are all front running fans from the '90s.

Trump successfully sued the NFL... back in the USFL days. And then the court hilariously awarded him $1 in damages, at least

Weren't the damages tripled because it was an antitrust suit?
So he actually got $3.

Movements like MAGA usually overstep and run into the Wrong One. For example McCarthyism failed because they went after the army. Not saying the NFL is the wrong one but might as well go after Nintendo while your at it.

I fully expect the NFL to roll over and give in to Florida's demands so they can stay in the Good Ole Boys Club.

NFL ownership is a Good Old Boys Club... and a lot of people want in, so this goes nowhere because taking shots at billionaires ends careers.
Florida has three teams, what happens when one of them decides to explore moving.

nah. the NFL has such power to persuade governments to tax their locals to pay for private stadiums. Florida will cave and give even more tax payer money to the private business.

I mean, it’s what was said about Disney when DeSantis went after them and they just ultimately capitulated because it was easier than attempting to stand for anything.
23
ndurtschi1 day ago
+27
Well desantis going after Disney was different because I believe in the end local tax payers ended up absorbing like 2 billion dollars worth of debt. To my understanding it ended up being quite beneficial to Disney.
27
Jupiter_Ginger19 hr ago

Yup. Ultimately DeSantis "forced" Disney to live with a much sweeter, cheaper deal than what they already had, and changed the name of a district.
And then claimed as a huge win and sticking it to "wokeism"

What's interesting is, they had someone from the equal opportunity employment board on NPR this morning. Well, they might not agree with the assessment in spirit they do from a legal standpoint because anything that takes gender or race into consideration for employment, which includes the candidate pool does potentially have impact on final hiring decisions.

>The subpoena commands the league to appear at the attorney general’s office in Tallahassee, Florida, on June 12. It asks the league to produce extensive documents, including “all diversity reports, coaching census data, or demographic surveys that reflect the race and sex of coaching staffs of the teams from 2017 to the present.”
Racist fishing expedition, thy name is Jim Crow.
>Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued a subpoena to the NFL as his office investigates whether the league has committed potential civils rights violations related to the Rooney Rule and the league’s other employment practices, policies and programs.
[Who is James Uthmeier, you ask?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Uthmeier#Hope_Florida_Foundation_scandal)
During the 2025 legislative session, Uthmeier was involved in a controversy surrounding the transfer of $10,000,000 from a Medicaid settlement to a political committee he controlled. In September 2024, Florida reached a $67 million settlement with Centene Corporation for Medicaid overbilling. Under the agreement, $10 million was directed to the Hope Florida Foundation, a nonprofit affiliated with First Lady Casey DeSantis. The Foundation transferred $5 million each to two nonprofit organizations, Secure Florida's Future and Save Our Society from Drugs, which then donated $8.5 million to Keep Florida Clean, a political committee chaired by Uthmeier that campaigned against Amendment 3, the recreational marijuana ballot initiative.

How do so few of you people understand how blackout rules work?
Blackout rules will blackout a game in market georgraphically near where the game is being held in order to encourage people to physically go to the game. If the game is always geographically distant from the team's city, they will actually get *more* of their games on TV and result most fans getting to see *more* games than they would have otherwise.

There has to be more important shit for the Florida AG to do. This rule doesn’t affect hiring at all. It just says they have to interview a certain number of people who are minorities. And they are a private business. I thought private business could make whatever cakes they wanted or some bullshit.
21
Lemfan461 day ago

If you believe this doesn't affect hiring, then you know Brian Flores' lawsuit was meritless and have no issue with what happened to him, sham or not, correct?
-17
ndurtschi1 day ago

I know nothing about Brian Flores. I just know that this is a pointless lawsuit because this rule only says that minorities have to be interviewed. The rule still allows you to be totally racist if you want to, you just need to do it undercover. It is nice those because it pushes racists back into the closet where they belong.

It would be interesting to see how fast Florida backs down on this if the teams lose NFL status. The teams would then be worthless. The team’s owners would put a lot of pressure to have Florida drop this.
1

The NFL wont though. They only care about profits and Florida is a big market. I wish they would threaten to pull all teams out of Florida over this to set a precedent, but it'll never happen.
