He should join up with Andre 3000 and Lizzo to make the strangest jazz trio ever conceived

His father was a jazz musician and he grew up thinking he was gonna be a jazz musician playing the trumpet. Hes been playing his whole life. I haven't listened to this so I won't say if hes legit or not but its a little different than Andre at the very least.

He's got the freak lips and can hit the high C all night long.

Don’t you remember it was the night I said you’d never be a good writer because you don’t have a curious mind?

He only plays on Idiot's Rule, if I recall. And I just learned that Angelo Moore and Chris Dowd from Fishbone also play on that record.

Isn’t he also playing bass on the album? Or just for live shows cause I’m pretty sure I saw him playing both bass and trumpet on some late night show clip.

Yes, he's credited on the album as playing bass, trumpet, and lead vocals. This headline is wrong.

Wow, seriously? The show was amazing so Flea held his own with Ornette Coleman?

He also played trumpet on a 20minute long Incubus jam track. Weird crossover but awesome

The headline is so dumb.
He’s a musician. He’s not confined to any instrument.

I have a Live Phish show from 8/26/89 that has Flea show up to do a Trumpet solo in a song. Now I understand why he was playing that instrument.

I swear I read it in the liner notes for the CD. Or maybe one of my Pharmer’s Almanac or similar resource (I can’t find my 1st edition Companion, which should’ve been with my Almanacs and Deadhead Tapers Compendiums)). I did always think it was weird that he played with them in ‘89. They called the guy Flea, didn’t they?
