It was the same way during Trump's first term. Republicans in Congress had a high turnover rate then too. People will jump on board the Trump train only to realize that the train is speeding towards a cliff. The Republicans leaving Congress are merely the ones smart enough to get off the Trump train before it goes off that cliff.

I’d consider them cowards. They don’t like what the GOP stands for but the refuse to do anything about it. If all these retirees created a coalition with the opposition they could right the direction of the entire country. Instead they’re running away and cashing in their taxpayer healthcare for life.
