The Albany-NYC relationship has always been a bit contentious.

Well, I'm from Utica and I've never heard anyone use the phrase "Steamed Adams."

That joke turns 30 years old on the 14th(cannot believe it's been that long!). The writer of it is actually hosting some live events on that day at a brewery in Albany to talk about how the joke came about. Just an fyi.

Most politicians retire and write a memoir. Eric Adams is apparently building an entirely different career arc in the Balkans.

Can't believe New Yorkers fell for this idiot back in 2021. Overhyped fear over crime leads to the worst possible leadership.

I'm not sure the freedom dividend would survive the capitol needs COVID placed on us. It did feel like he wanted to do a good job for a good sake.

I mean we did get stimulus checks. Not much different

Mage505 2 days ago +8
A one time payment vs a continual payment to everyone without the overhaul of the benefits system of being American is not the same as a stimy check.

Imagine if we didn't have to pay for a war we didn't want with Iran. Imagine if we didn't have to pay for a ballroom. Imagine we didn't have to pay for 380 vacation days in 4 years, and secret service in private properties like maralago. Imagine if DOGE actually worked and wasn't run by, well, whatever it was run by.

Mage505 2 days ago +2
First. I'm not opposed to a war with Iran exactly. I'm opposed to the current war because it was a dumb war to get into with no plans at all. Generally. America does war well, this admin doesn't. The ballroom is dumb, we're technically not paying for it, but it's a dumb move. It's worse than paying for it. All presidents take vacation, but trump is the worst at it. I don't see a real audit pulling up stuff. The GAO already does this function. The hard pill to swallow is that the government is actually ran well, but we base results off of a corporate perception l, not a process based perception. I don't think there's as much fraud waste and abuse as people say.

I feel like this guy is the perfect mark for intelligence agencies. He feels like a genuinely dumb as f*** person who could be honey potted and never convinced they tricked him no matter what evidence comes to light.

Is he the first black Albanian in history?
18
godisanelectricolive 2 days ago +11
No. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Albanian_people_of_African-American_descent Basketball players Dallas Moore and Mike Moser are also Albanian citizens. Also, there used to be a historical black community of Black Albanians in the town of [Ulcinj in Montenegro](https://lefteast.org/only-memories-and-emptiness-remain-the-history-of-ulcinjs-afro-albanian-community-in-montenegro/) that date back to the 18th century. The town is inhabited by the Albanian minority but it was a port for slave ships. Quite a few slaves ended up there and eventually gained freedom and living as Albanians. The community has now mostly left the town or become so intermixed that they are indistinguishable from everyone else. Some of their descendants went to live in Albania. There was a famous Yugoslav anti-fascist partisan named [Rizo Šurla](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizo_%C5%A0urla) from that little Albania-speaking town though. He died in 2003.

Didn’t Kerik also do that shit? Picked up a shitload of money after leaving NYPD in Jordan, Guyana, UAE, Trinidad and Tobago. But he wasn’t smart enough to get citizenship to avoid prison.

Coach on the TV show Cheers: "Albania, Albania, it borders on the Adriatic." That was one of several comedy episodes where a character was using putting facts to song to study for an exam.
