yeah maybe don't go train an enemy nation for money, usually frowned upon

Or if you do at least surrender your citizenship beforehand.

Would that really release him of obligation? It might have been in his contract accepting training.

So citizens are not allowed to do business with anyone the government declares is "enemy"? Not "at war with" just "we don't like"

Training military pilots is a bit more than “doing business”. Especially when they are from a nation that could become hostile. If the accusations prove true in court, he can do his time.

Any nation could become hostile though. I’m kinda seeing downvoted guys perspective on this. It really would spin around what specific law. The article says the primarily issue is that he did so “without applying for an appropriate license” and was paid like $60k. Sounds more like there is a monopoly in who is allowed to sell training and the Feds are protecting their favored contractors license rights.

My guess is that he would not have received the license and knew it, because no AF pilots do.

Right. Only the US’s favorite children receive those licenses. Blackwater USA/Blackwater Worldwide/Xe Services/Academi/Constellis Holdings What ever their favored homies company is called today.

I mean yeah, Americans couldn't to business with the Soviets during the Cold War.

If he wants to sell his skills what's wrong with that? He'd done his contract, no further obligation. Or are you saying *no* American can ever work with china? Add to that he's not even an American any more.

Just desserts for training a peer competitor and rival.
