I hate that.
I experienced my mother's violent death at home. I was four and for the most part was not traumatized (apparently). Even though I remember every detail.
My brother was 7 and he still is. Decades later.
These kids are teens. Sad.

Partial family annihilation...
What a piece of unrepentant fertilizer. May his children move past this trauma and live good happy lives.

Fertilizer has a noble purpose. This f***** isn't fit to become microbe food.

It's crazy how when someone is about to end their own life, they don't give a shit about their kids and what their parents' death will do to them.

That's a ridiculous and clearly false generalisation. Suicidal people do not suddenly become recklessly indifferent to others' lives.

Not 100% of the time, but it's not rare either. Just look at all the pilots (the Germanwings guy, MH370, the crash in China a few years ago) where a pilot chose to crash their plane to kill hundreds of others. There's tons of examples of suicidal people intentionally taking out strangers or just exercising reckless disregard for the lives of others.
It is equally wrong to claim that all suicidal people are a danger to others as it is to pretend like all are safe to be around.

What is it about men killing women who won't put up with whatever shit they're trying to get away with?
Yes, I know women do this from time to time (see Phit Hartman), but so often it seems to be men.

These types see their family as an extension of themselves. If he's going down, he's taking them with him. Kind of surprising that the kids weren't killed as well.

This seems to be the.maim reasons. It seems to me you gotta worry about anyone who overly attaches their identity and masculinity to being the chief provider and head of a household.
I've noticed these things normally follow some massive failure in the perpetrator's eyes, like finacial ruin and/or a divorce request.

>financial ruin
When I was in undergrad this happened to a classmate. The father was running some kind of financial scam and was under investigation, so he killed the whole family and himself during parents weekend.

To be clear, are you taking issue with Fairfax being allowed to own a gun, or are you taking issue with red flag laws in general? Because this incident is further evidence that red flag laws should exist and, if anything, should be expanded.

To be clear I think red flag laws can be good but using this as a soap box moment when there is zero evidence to suggest a red flag laws would have worked in this case because we lack any information to suggest that at this point?
That's not okay.

Does a ugly divorce resulting in a Murder-Suicide really fit this definition...
usually its done due to Cultural reasons such as avoiding Dowry in India, or Honor Killings or Jealousy by a spouse etc. In these cases only the woman dies.
This is different. While very reprehensible doubt it should be counted as femicide .

A man killing his whole family and then himself is literally so prevalent in the United States they are referred to as “family annihilators”. This is a literal classification of men who murder their entire families because of their own ego and control issues.
This man murdered his wife. That is femicide. I don’t understand where the disconnect is for you, this is literally the definition.

“Family annihilator”. Brutal name. A damn shame that it exists.

Yes it does. Femicide: “the act of killing a woman, as by a domestic partner or a member of a criminal enterprise.” Downplaying it by claiming it wasn’t done in the context of those cultures prevents this issue from getting attention.
