Is it really a betrayal if it's been their modus operandi for years?

Hungarians even voted for this *twice* (2018, 2022), giving them absolute power. And it was well known (even then), that they were Russian puppets.

I don't get it. I lived in Hungary. I read the history. Why do they want to be Russia's puppet state?

They're not. Congress and the Senate would never approve it. Especially not after the midterms
19

Trump doesn’t care about what Congress does or doesn’t approve, all he has to do is sabotage and break it. Like he has been doing whichever way he can.
29

That's not entirely true at all, and if Trump could just do whatever he wants then he would completely ignore all Supreme Court rulings, but he doesn't do that. As for congress, they never *actually* do anything to reign him in, but he would otherwise. They're still obeying some level of the law despite being fascists for some reason.
2
CrankHogger5721 day ago
+1
That's not true. He won't have the power to do so, he can't just declare that we're leaving NATO and have it actuallu mean anything. Also, Supreme Court would likely shoot down any Executive Orders he makes regarding NATO. They haven't been as partisan as Trump had hoped, he's been losing Supreme Court cases left and right lately

Trump is Commander in Chief. The US remaining in NATO is meaningless if Trump won't order the US military to come to the aid of our allies in the event of an attack.

I’ve a question for those more versed in internal Hungarian politics than I am.
If elected, does P Magyar dismantle the state apparatus that has been created to hold power (ie media control, redistribution of power to smaller counties, etc) or does he keep it and use to his own ends?
6
ComPakk1 day ago
+5
He promised to dismantle the old system and put countermeasures in place so it can't happen again.
He also presented some pretty realistic paths and goals to this if they win.
Obviously we will see what actually happens but if he keeps 40% of what he promised the old system will crumble.

You’ve had 16 years of their nonsense, stop being so damn stubbornly weak.
Let them join up with the flailing belorussian and russian and serbian economies. They can reminisce and replicate the loser ussr together.
