I don't think since world war 2 has a word leader spewed the nonsense trump did in the last day or so. The fact that this leader has nuclear weapons makes it more worrying.

wow --- that's a very concise version of all his madness in the last month. Some might say he's not qualified to lead anything

I really want to know what he thought was going to happen? Did he think he was going to swoop in bomb the shit out of Iran, take all their oil and leave with no issue or push back from Iran? Like what was the actual goal?

nebrivor1 3 days ago +50
Yes. Beyond that there was no goal or plan. You can't use logical thinking with this crew because they don't have those skills.

Also we got a midterm coming up and this is certainly not going to help Republicans especially with gas prices going through the roof. Might be the dumbest timing to do something like this unless they have already rigged the election and are not worried.

I think they’re planning for retaliation to declare martial law and BOOM no election.

He definitely did say the Muricans wouldn't need to vote again.

> not going to help Republicans especially with gas prices going through the roof Step 1: promess to fix the gas prices. Step 2: get re-elected. Step 0 or 3: blame Obama or Biden.

It’s been reported that Netanyahu showed him a 4-step plan that they just go in, kill Khamenei, and the Mossad incites rebellion which overthrows the regime. His advisors then allegedly said “lmao that’s bullshit” but Trump didn’t listen.

The plan is to make the biggest mess any human has ever created so that those with the resources can rule the world without any rules or regulations. It's f****** nuts we just let them do it.

Yes, he thought it would work like Venezuela. He's an idiot.

Yes, in some respects. Its been reported pretty heavily now that he figured he could just swoop in assassinate the Iranian regime leader, bomb some of their weapon facilities and then swoop out and claim himself as a hero.

I'd recommend you listen back his "declaration of war" video, because in that video he lists 5~10 goals I'd say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i03vW40EDI8 , I'm not saying it all makes sense, but it's his goals.

"no new wars"

This whole war is particularly dangerous, but the question is more: what can you do about it? Decades ago, France had a bigger influence in Iran, Israel, and Lebanon. And now? France recently declared the IRGC is a terrorist group, will they do anything about it? France helped Israel get the nuke, does Israel remember? France has a defence agreement with the UAE, are we defending them successfuly / enough? France maintains close ties with the Lebanese government; are we helping them disarm Hezbollah? France is a member of the UN Security Council, are we helping Gulf States enough in the Strait of Hormuz? Or, are we just doing communication? There are things to do to have an influence, there are risks to take. And if we take none, we can talk all we want, nobody cares.

To be honest, I have no idea why we have a presence in the Middle East at all. You know things, maybe you can tell me roughly. I understand the relations with Lebannon because of the history we have with them (the protectorate) but I don't know why we have troops in the United Arab Emirates for example.

IntelArtiGen 3 days ago +4
> but I don't know why we have troops in the United Arab Emirates I think for us it's about having a military influence in a very important region for oil. The Strait of Hormuz has been an important waterway for decades: we had many Gulf Wars, many oil shocks, it impacted us, we know how these wars go. We knew how important it is to have a stable Middle East for us, and we knew that the military presence of a powerful country like France *usually* helps deter military escalation. So we played our cards decades ago, to ensure we had ways to act in situations like this. For the UAE I think it's a way to have redundancy. They're very friends with the US and they probably don't need us, but you never know when your ally is going to elect a crazy orange guy so it's better to have other allies just in case. And the US hasn't been the most "peaceful / uncontroversial" ally in the region. And they buy our weapons so it's a win-win. And they have oil, and you always need to have friends with oil in case you don't have enough ideas.

For Iran, no one is ever stepping in to stop us And with them having the majority in the Executive Branch, no one is stepping in domestically either

Et après on va nous imposer au travers d'une loi liberticide pour la France de s'empêcher de critiquer un pays... loi Yadan. Pour ceux qui sont passés à côté, voici le lien : https://petitions.assemblee-nationale.fr/initiatives/i-5158

France is scared if Trump takes the strait, he’s going to charge a heavier toll than Iran
-11
ARazorbacks 3 days ago +11
I‘m pretty sure no one is afraid Trump will take control of the Strait. At best Trump can put boots there and then the shooting never stops, meaning the Strait is closed indefinitely. That’s what everyone is afraid of.
