Dailybeast is a very sensationalized tabloid, most headlines are fictional and paywalled. Pretty sure they are shills meant to make liberals look like they overreact to everything. If reddit mods weren't extremely questionable people they would ban such tabloids from news/politics subs.

theme69 Mar 23, 2026 +41
I wish daily beast and Newsweek were banned from this sub. Sensationalized paywalled trash. The amount it shows up here makes me sure a mod is invested in the site

You CAN’T work in Finance & Accounting if you have convictions for fraud, money laundering, or embezzlement. Trump ✅ You CAN’T work in Healthcare & Education if you’ve been convicted of crimes involving violence or sexual offences. Trump. ✅ But in America you CAN work as the President of the United States. *The highest office in the land.* America! 🇺🇸 F*** YA!

Chillers Mar 23, 2026 +198
That is utterly hilarious if not terrifying at the same time. You'd think it would have been common sense to have this in the constitution. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

KittyGrewAMoustache Mar 23, 2026 +172
In democracies there’s this expectation that the voters just wouldn’t allow it, they just wouldn’t vote for someone like that. They don’t want to legislate against allowing certain people to be president because it could be used by bad actors to prevent legitimate people from standing, eg by quickly convicting them or a made up crime. The idea is that the electorate would be discerning enough to reject any such monster. But they didn’t factor in mass media and social media totally warping peoples minds to the point they see a monster as a messiah.
172
Esquire1114 Mar 23, 2026 +57
>a monster as a messiah. This needs to be the title of the documentary that exposes all of the corruption that leads to the incarnation of all those who acted unlawfully under both Trump regimes.
57
SemperPereunt Mar 23, 2026 +2
They’re all going to become Jesus after they’re exposed?
2
barryvm Mar 23, 2026 +53
It's not that part of the electorate does not discern the criminality and immorality though. It's that they actively want criminality and immorality. Trump embodies the idea that some people are above the law and should be able to do whatever they want to certain other people, and that is a major part of his appeal. His campaign was a call for violence towards immigrants, his political opponents, ... They support a monster because they too want to do monstrous things to other people, or at least have them done in their name under a cloak of legality or necessity. The end apparently justifies the means. And then there's the larger part of the electorate that doesn't particularly care he is a monster, just as long as the bad things happen to other people while they get their tax break (or whatever it is they thought they would get out of this). Both these groups didn't fail to spot the immorality. They just chose to ignore it or actively wanted it. Their delusions are bad faith, belief existing solely to justify their choice so that they can pretend to be good people despite supporting heinous people and their destructive actions. That belief can be real, of course, but that doesn't really matter. The consequences of their actions and the intent behind it are what matters.
53
LightDarkBeing Mar 23, 2026 +7
This is on the nose correct and is an inditement of the American attitude of moral righteousness and validation while compounding toxic individualism, masculinity, and religious superiority.
7
barryvm Mar 23, 2026 +6
It's not even specific to the USA IMHO. All those impulses are the bread and butter of reactionary populism (as all of them are just excuses for why some people are better than others and deserve more) and that has become the dominant faction on the right in most democracies. And, like in the USA, most "moderate" right wing parties and voters have no problem supporting or making common cause with these movements as long as they think they get what they want out of it. Make no mistake: all those "anti-immigration" parties and movements in Europe are the same type of proto-fascist movement the Republican part was ten years ago. And there are a lot of people who will support them and tell themselves that the end justifies the means, as they make up the end and lie about the means.

Trump did the same thing Hitler did, tapping into hatred.
7
parasiticsemiosis Mar 23, 2026 +4
This even though the factor mass media was there in plain open sight since at least the third reich. The role radio transmitters and the „Volksempfänger“ played in the rise of the Nazi regime cannot be overstated.
4
BadmiralHarryKim Mar 23, 2026 +2
New communication technologies pretty much always bring chaos in their wake until enough people develop an "immune system" for the lies and nonsense bad actors transmit through them.
2
Alvinsimontheodore Mar 23, 2026 +10
They added this in the 1860s. Unfortunately our modern Supreme Court made it meaningless. “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

4
westgazer Mar 23, 2026 +7
Just like the founders intended apparently! We can’t have silly little rules like “if you’re a 34x convicted felon who attempted a coup you cannot be on a ballot again” because then we might end up like Russia or something.
7
M00nch1ld3 Mar 23, 2026 +12
We already have a Constitutional clause that bars Trump from running again. Problem is the SC said - "Nah, let's f\*ck the Constitution."
12
Ferrocile Mar 23, 2026 +4
You can barely work minimum jobs. It’s an absolute joke that there is no barrier to entry based on these types of crimes for the highest office in the US. I guess the idea is that decent people would not vote for a criminal, but it’s clear we need guardrails.
4
DonkeyPunchCletus Mar 23, 2026 +15
You should be able do. The highest office should not have any requirements other than some formalities like being born here and having your primary residence here. Otherwise you end up with another russia where the party in power jails their opponents for a couple days and makes them inelibigle to run. If over half the voting population wants a moronic rapist felon as president that's representative democracy in action. The part that actually is important is guaranteeing fair and safe elections. And whoever is chosen in a fair and safe way is the rightful president. After a decade of this I am tired of pretending that Trump is somehow below the office of the president. He is not. He is America. And it's not his fault he is the president, your neighbors and uncles put him there.
15
KittyGrewAMoustache Mar 23, 2026 +17
Very important in this is accurate reporting and minimising propaganda. The US absolutist stance on freedom of speech has allowed people to lie for decades and essentially radicalise and brainwash half the population into voting for someone so horrific.
17
DonkeyPunchCletus Mar 23, 2026 +9
BTW this has been predictable for a long time. The american exceptionalism coalrolling fuckyeah patriotism that was drilled into a majority of the population is the cause of this. Some toothless hick in a trailer in Alabama thought he was better than a swedish lawyer because he was an American and he lived in the bestest and greatest country in the world. I'll grab the russian comparison again because it's so fitting. Many live in squalor. Poor, drunk, freezing. But they all think their country is better than the degenerate west. Eventually this thinking creeps to the very top. We don't need anyone. We are the very best and everyone has to do what we want. Trump is America because he THINKS like many Americans. He can do whatever he wants and other countries better listen or we'll bomb them until they cry uncle.
9
westgazer Mar 23, 2026 +8
You probably shouldn’t be able to run for president AGAIN though after you literally tried to do a coup after losing an election and also were convicted of a bunch of crimes and are only running to avoid prison. Like this should be a pretty special case type of situation since none of this is some bad actors drumming up some crime he didn’t do or whatever.
8
DonkeyPunchCletus Mar 23, 2026 +3
It's difficult to frame this law in a way that doesn't leave room for abuse. Even saying somebody convicted of treason can't run is open to abuse because hey let's convict our political opponents of treason in sham trials! You are digging into more constitutional questions. You are saying somebody convicted of a coup shouldn't be able to run. But what if the people want the coup? What if they want a regime change? Trump attempting a coup and then being re-elected is actually just proof that Americans WANTED the coup. As opposed to ya know Trump seizing power via the military like coups usually go. In this case the people were consulted and they said yes please. The US failed a national IQ test not once but twice. I don't think the government should be in the business of dictacting who can and who cannot run. Government should be focussed on guaranteeing fair and safe elections and giving people the tools to make the right decision. Anti-propaganda laws and sponsorship disclosures are good and healthy. Separate news from entertainment clearly and punish news stations that report falsehoods. Of course this needs an independent, maybe even international commission or you end up with state propaganda.
3
frostygrin Mar 23, 2026 +2
> Separate news from entertainment clearly Is this a remotely realistic goal? Some people watch news as entertainment, and it's not like the news will necessarily be 100% unbiased - at a minimum there's the matter of what gets reported. And I think it's the "entertainment" that has the most potential for manipulation - just marking it as entertainment doesn't address the problem.
2
M00nch1ld3 Mar 23, 2026 +3
What about those who attempt an insurrection? We have a clause in the Constitution for that, but the SC said the Constitution itself is invalid. They just ignored it in their ruling.
3
Mrsensi12x Mar 23, 2026 +2
Ya but done leave out the part about the electoral college, without that there is no trump presidency the first time. And pretty sure that would keep him from ever getting elected.
2
Denselense Mar 23, 2026 +1
Honestly I don’t think anyone ever thought that it would ever be an issue. I feel the founders of this country had enough faith in humanity to make the right choice. Hell even I had that faith but here we are.

Imsorrywhatnoway Mar 23, 2026 +4
The American people need to wake up and come to terms with the fact that the Republicans will not "wake up" and do the right thing by removing trump. By appointing corrupt people to his government, it's guaranteed that they will protect him at all cost in fear of being prosecuted once he is removed. I know this seems obvious but the world is watching this unfold and nothing is being done by the opposition. Are you waiting to be saved?Cause no one is coming to help you.

Even just a few years ago, when I responded to posts about Trump, I would get replies "I know you hate this guy, but..." followed by a whatabout or rationalization But no, I did not and still do not *hate* him. I reserve hate for people that I have had personal interactions with as individuals. I just understand that Trump is objectively a bad person and is unqualified to hold any public office nor position of influence.

22

When he wasn't President you probably just remember that he's pushing 80 so might as well have been 79 at any other time before 2025. Also, media likes to bury the lede on Trump's age when they were constantly railing on how old Biden was.

49

The second thing.
33
Frankie6Strings Mar 23, 2026 +13
Both of those things happened because one of our two parties is basically a religious cult. That's the most upsetting thing to me. This isn't about assessing reality and arriving at different conclusions. They actively ignore and deny reality as a liberal conspiracy.
13
Hixy Mar 23, 2026 +6
It’s so odd. To still support this, you must be completely oblivious, full of hatred, or totally brainwashed. There isn’t a single kind hearted informed individual that would ever think the actions made by these people are ok.

I wish it existed for the mobile app. The third party apps probably had that function before Reddit killed them off.
9

They did. It made Reddit so much nicer. Filtered by link so anything to specific websites would not show. Got rid of so many spam posts where the same article was posted everywhere, then again when the other outlets put out their own AI piece on what the original article said. Ran out of feed a lot of times which helped keep the phone out of my hand.

A lot of pushback here for Daily Beast links. Sure they're sensationalistic but it's refreshing to see someone not sanewashing all the b.s. for a change. They do issue direct quotes so it's not made-up stuff, it's just appropriately as bonkers as reality.
158
gdshaffe Mar 23, 2026 +62
Exactly. IMO a huge part of the problem with the media is *not* that they're "sensationalized" or "biased" but that they are far too reluctant to describe the behavior of a sitting President with language that is appropriate to the severity of the behavior. Because what Trump is saying is absolute bugfuck insanity. To sanewash it with bland political language is f****** criminal. F*** anyone who thinks this is normal for any elected official, let alone a sitting President of the United States. You can't report this shit with headlines that don't feel sensationalized and be anywhere remotely honest about what you're reporting on. It's like Golf commentators announcing a WWE match.
62
tttts08 Mar 23, 2026 +11
Nah man this isn’t it. There is tons of stuff out there that doesn’t sanewash Trump and has actual substance. This is 12 year old shit and makes us all look bad.

What is ridiculous about their headline.
18
SecondHandWatch Mar 23, 2026 +25
This one isn’t as bad, but it’s usually some bullshit suggesting Trump is on the verge of utter collapse/defeat. If it’s been dire for the last year, maybe it’s time to rethink your phrasing.
25

Yup. Always some variation of “SLAMMED”, “Desperate,” “Collapse,” etc…
15

Agreed. I refuse to read any article by the Daily Beast because of this. Other sources of information. Soon as I see a breathless, amateurish sensationalistic headline, I guess "Daily Beast" and am rarely wrong. If I have time I may look at some of the comments, but I'm not giving them one damn click until they learn to write a sane headline.

People focus so much on the crazy that they ignore the military positioning that seems to be a wind up toward a total militaristic take over. He has positioned national guard troops in DC and ICE in major cities. He involves himself in a foreign war and attempts to funnel more money toward the military, while also positioning military close to Cuba and other regions closer to home. He is now positioning his de facto personal guard at major transportation hubs, after a crisis he and his allies created. Remove all the crazy things he says from the equation, search for the nuggets of truth that entirely match his actions and those of his allies, including destroying all checks and balances that might work against them, and this looks more and more like preparations for a domestic armed conflict. Given how little they care about harming people in this country and how much they're willing to take a mile when given an inch, I don't think it's too ridiculous to consider the possibility that these people would be willing to start a civil war, especially if they're prone to always believing they'll win even when evidence shows otherwise.

Maybe this is why they are building a data center under the new ballroom. Just use AI to create a fake Fox News Feed showing how awesome Trump is and a fake Truth Social full of comments praising every illiterate post he Truths.

Everyone knows that Trump is mentally unstable and getting worse.
4
Halftied Mar 23, 2026 +3

5
PsychologicalPop8690 Mar 23, 2026 +4
Christ we could have avoided all this Biden just had to make an executive order NO one in congress or the presidency can be a convicted felon and run for office but the Dems are pussies they bring sticks to a gunfight amazing how incompetent govt is
4
cerevant Mar 23, 2026 +4
Yeah, no.  That is way beyond the scope of what an executive order can do, and would have been thrown out by the SC in a heartbeat.  Probably unanimously.

opinionsareus Mar 23, 2026 +3
The fascist flunkies who are licking his boots at his club will be remembered in the worst way when this is over.

Time to use the 25th amendment
7
StepUp_87 Mar 23, 2026 +9

Definitely a bizarro world. Half the population thinks he's a goddamned hero and smartest man alive.
3
Cortexan Mar 23, 2026 +3
Haha, yea there weren’t any talks at all, his empty threat just fell flat and this is concealer for his bruised ego.

America: do something about your Mad King.
3
BlackberryPi7 Mar 23, 2026 +3
When articles mention his age like this it gives me huge disappointment to see it's not something we've all been waiting for
3
bognostrocleetus Mar 23, 2026 +4
F****** sick of this! It should be illegal to talk about the opposing political party like this. Your political opponents are not enemies of the state just because they don't vote for you!
4
Fastluck83 Mar 23, 2026 +2
Less tweeting, more ending the war that is wrecking the global economy and hitting our wallets.

EatRichGrains Mar 23, 2026 +2
Will anyone get grandpa a cute blonde caretaker who can persuade him? Not Erika Kirk She's got those crazy eyes. The devil resides in those kinds of eyes from time to time. You know the look. Puppy killer nazi Noem has a similar empty glare behind the eyes.

Isnt tom homan the guy that got bribed a giant bag of cash for giving preferential treatment in some kind of government contracting(i could be wrong about the why but not that it happened) and tried to say thats a totally normal thing?

Ladylafayette90 Mar 23, 2026 +2
The last days of this menace are upon us.
2
ckglle3lle Mar 23, 2026 +2
Not really the point but saw someone point out that he traveled today instead of Sunday night. Nothing notable on its own but if Monday becomes the travel day it signals another reduction in his overall schedule to make his workload even lighter and his rec time longer.
2

How is this news? It’d be easier to tell us when he’s not schizo posting. This is why I have zero respect for 95% of journalists.
2
RobertJ93 Mar 23, 2026 +2
Why is nearly every other article I read on this sub from the daily f****** beast. It’s starting to get on my nerves tbh.

I suppose if a 79 year old man can be “frenzied,” at least he has that going for him.
2
Legitimate-Debt7289 Mar 23, 2026 +2
Taco man always at it! Just like his failed businesses.
2
awkwardnetadmin Mar 23, 2026 +2
A headline this vague I can't tell if this is from today, last week, last month or really almost any date since his last birthday depending upon what you consider early morning.

I just read that article in which this guy made a comment about his small hands decades ago and he is still sending him cutouts of photos of his hands as proof they are not.  And damn, that hand does look small alright. And it is in the foreground.
1
underpants-gnome Mar 23, 2026 +1
No government of any size should be as reliant on random f****** tweets as the United States is under trump's rule.
1
thelegochef Mar 23, 2026 +1
Not the nazis or pedophiles or corrupt or billionaires.. gotcha. The real issue with this country is the working class, law abiding dems
1
free2bk8 Mar 23, 2026 +1
