Oh shit sorry man you must have not got the memo, so per our Republican overlords- we attacked Iran which escalated into a war but it isn't a war, we also won that war, but we still have more work to do. We aren't sending in troops because that's crossing the line but we will send in an expeditionary unit. We don't need anyone's help but we also need everyone to send their navy in right now. We're taking over an island off Iran but Trump might bomb it for fun. And just in case you're wondering this is a short term pain for a long term gain, but no one can define what that gain is and when we get it. But what I can tell you is gas is probably going to be over $5 a gallon which my Republican friends don't seem to care about despite the fact they wouldn't shut the f*** up about the price of eggs

I'm from Europe, I just checked, here in Switzerland gas currently is 8.50 USD per gallon (octane 95).

Right? I don't understand how a rise of $0.06 per gallon is news when we just saw it spike by an order of magnitude larger the same week

I went on vacation on the 6th and decided to fill up before I left, my car takes 93 octane and I spent $3.89 to the gallon. I am really not looking forward to getting back home tomorrow and seeing what it’s at

I live on an island in the Caribbean, my gas is cheaper.

It was $4.59 a week ago in Oregon, and this week it's $5.30

$4.00/gallon for unleaded in Oregon.

the inflation from this is gonna be royally unfun. Oil prices effect the entire supply chain, so prices across the board should rise, which was part of why inflation spiked so much in '22 (outside of the natural consequences of pandemic era supply chain wonkiness)

China still needs oil, they just saw this coming and stockpiled a billion+ gallons of it. The morons running US energy policy need to realize that even though we're "energy independent," the market for hydrocarbons is a global one and prices are thus globally determined. The only way to truly be "independent" is to have massive investments in renewable energy, but obv that doesn't enrich Shell so we'll never do it

5.89ish in Northern California, the Shells are 6.09 I don't think I've *ever* seen gas this high.

It’s over $3 on the board. Everywhere will be 3 plus taxes by end of the week. Meanwhile natural gas is down about 40 percent since last fall.

Today (currently (where I am)) gas is $3.59 a gallon (and yes I'm aware it's way higher elsewhere). On March 2nd I paid $2.64 a gallon so to fill up is going to cost me an extra $15 at a time I can't really afford it. So tired of all the winning. So very tired.

All the other delusional republicans just make up c***, like saying gas was five dollars under Biden when in my area gas was never 5$. Gas jumped 20 cents in one night thanks to Trump, that never happened with Biden but they literally don’t live in reality. 

It won't. It will just cause people who have little to suffer even more. The cost will as usual be passed on down to the poorest and the lower middle class. For the rest it might be annoying and more expensive. The fallout of a global economic collapse is not something you want to see, it will destabilise countries, leading to more conflicts and death. Hell, this has been seen multiple times in national/regional settings. What's needed is a restructure. Revolution seems like a quicker solution than evolution, but most of the time it just ends in chaos. (Just as a side note, here the price is about $8.40 per gallon, and we are an oil producing country. People will grumble but still fill their cars)
