Oh shit sorry man you must have not got the memo, so per our Republican overlords- we attacked Iran which escalated into a war but it isn't a war, we also won that war, but we still have more work to do. We aren't sending in troops because that's crossing the line but we will send in an expeditionary unit. We don't need anyone's help but we also need everyone to send their navy in right now. We're taking over an island off Iran but Trump might bomb it for fun. And just in case you're wondering this is a short term pain for a long term gain, but no one can define what that gain is and when we get it. But what I can tell you is gas is probably going to be over $5 a gallon which my Republican friends don't seem to care about despite the fact they wouldn't shut the f*** up about the price of eggs

The Ayatollah was a BAD MAN. The world is a better place without people like him in it. But international politics isn't moral, its practical and practically speaking, Iran now has the pretense AND capability to plunge the world into a financial recession. Thats why nobody else went after the bad man.

Neighbor told me tonight we had to attack because those people are fanatics. I rebutted that there are plenty of crazy rouge nations like N. Korea that actually have nukes and threaten the US. Then there are people that have other religions that aren't understood and thus bad. However, she did ultimately agree that this attack and the human suffering from things like bombing oil and desalinization plants is awful.

China still needs oil, they just saw this coming and stockpiled a billion+ gallons of it. The morons running US energy policy need to realize that even though we're "energy independent," the market for hydrocarbons is a global one and prices are thus globally determined. The only way to truly be "independent" is to have massive investments in renewable energy, but obv that doesn't enrich Shell so we'll never do it

It won't.
It will just cause people who have little to suffer even more.
The cost will as usual be passed on down to the poorest and the lower middle class.
For the rest it might be annoying and more expensive.
The fallout of a global economic collapse is not something you want to see, it will destabilise countries, leading to more conflicts and death.
Hell, this has been seen multiple times in national/regional settings.
What's needed is a restructure.
Revolution seems like a quicker solution than evolution, but most of the time it just ends in chaos.
(Just as a side note, here the price is about $8.40 per gallon, and we are an oil producing country.
People will grumble but still fill their cars)

The real irony here is that the gas you're buying now was actually bought a year ago when the contract was signed for the petroleum. The petroleum is then brought in on a tanker to a refinery. After refining it's put in storage tanks and then loaded on trucks for distribution.
The price hikes are opportunism because the price you're seeing at the pump has nothing to do with world events other than an excuse to raise those prices.

I do recall high prices and inflation during Biden's presidency. I also recall why that happened. Explain what you think Biden did that increased oil prices. For bonus points, explain why oil prices also returned to normal by the end of his term.
I'll give you a major hint: the price of commodities fluctuates for multiple reasons, sometimes due to environmental reasons (pandemics, major weather events, etc), other times due to the action of State actors (wars, trade policies, etc.), and sometimes due to the private sectors (AI requiring power, chips, etc.)

Iran bombed *itself* to distract from the Epstein files?
Wow. Big if true.

Down vote all you want, blame whoever you want, but the fact is Iran attacked the United States. Every president since Carter has avoided the Iran problem, just like every president has avoided the North Korean problem, and the Cuban problem.
This is long overdue. I don’t like President Trump, I don’t want him in office; but he is. Saudi Arabia has the means to control the gulf states, but they won’t

Iran attacked the United States?
Are you really sure about that? When did that happen? Why wasn’t it reported?
Was it buried under all the news about your favourite pedophile president?
Golly gosh, an Iranian attack on the USA? Well, no wonder they blew up an Iranian school.
