I know viewership was a factor but I also wonder how much of it had to do with the final season of the boys. Losing that bigger picture storyline from the main show kind of kills the momentum

You’d think with the Boys being over they want to keep something in that universe going.

I think that’s what the prequel is for. My assumption is that the end of the boys complicates stories that extend past the last episode

I don’t expect Mexico to go much better. Not to mention, we already know Vought’s past.
Between Stromfromt, Noir, and Soldier Boy, we know what happened.

I said keep going. As in already going.

Sure but it doesn't really make sense for the show to go on.
Godolkin U is gone, and by the end of this season Homelander will be gone.
There's nothing tying this group of characters anymore. Are they going to start a young avengers style team and start capturing bank robbers? It doesn't make much sense.

The day she smiles will be a major milestone…. I really hope we get s few slice of life episodes of these guys on earth. I wish they’d make a whole series of if.

I always viewed it as DLC to the main plot. Figured once the show ended it was sort of useless or pointless so ro speak. Honestly expected a 3rd season to wrap it up post finale of main show.

That's exactly what it was. I think it's likely going G to be followed by a new show or something else teased by the finale.

We are getting a prequel and a Mexican spin off but I’m not sure when the Mexican spinoff takes place.

I really never saw the appeal of prequel shows. I bet Noir gets burnt and Soldier Boy gets captured.

I think its even before that.

I bet, instead, they have cameos in Boys season 5.

Gen V was really good... I am surprised it was not more popular.

Maybe this is a personal gripe more than a plausible reason, but i didnt watch it cause i just didnt wanna deal with teenage drama with the boys writing style.

That was my first thoughts until I started to watch it with S2 released. I actually think it is a far better storytelling then main show.

Oh I didnt mean the story telling would be bad, im just personally done with the usual thropes and cliches present when the show is about teenagers.
Not that they arent present when the story revolves around adults, but they just feel more spread at least

It’s not a show about teenagers… what makes you think that was the case?

I mean to me college in an american series means "acts like a teenager but is of legal age"

Same. I watched the first episode. Not for me. In fact, I was never sure who it was for.

It's hard to enjoy the side show when the main one is milked so badly. Plus young adult angst isn't for everyone.

I almost didn’t watch this new season because of the disgust I felt from the last. The show runner wants to constantly talk shit about maga but he’s just as bad.
-5
PersimmonWorried215521 hr ago
Not to mention the just flat-out bad writing. Look at them trying to write for Sage. It’s really hard to write for a super intelligent character, when the writer is absolutely not.

The guy has just been copying what he sees in the news. Then when it comes out he acts shocked and can’t believe it’s really happening. It’s like he couldn’t think of anything else to write so just copied whatever he saw on twitter.

Because that's just your opinion.
My opinion, and that of many others is that it sucked. And some of us are not surprised it was cancelled at all.

None of the protagonists were particularly good.
Especially when you weigh them against the protagonists of The Boys.

A lot of studios buy the first 2 seasons together. Once you’ve paid for costumes, sets, locked in actors, it’s much cheaper to get the second season.

I didn’t really expect a 3rd season. Once this season of The Boys is done the setting is pretty much done to (besides prequels)

I always thought Gen V was only suppose to be 2 seasons with it tying into the last season of the boys. Guess not if it just got canceled outright.

Damn shame, this show ended up really surprising me at how entertaining it was (and the characters were really fun, too).

Chance Perdomo’s untimely death is a big factor in all of this. He played the secondary protagonist of the show and his accident was on the way to set to start filming. This caused a lot to have to be rewritten last minute when most of pre-production was already complete and changed the overall tone of the show.
It was still good all things considered, but those changes in vibe and character dynamics probably contributed to lower viewership.

Does anyone want to see a prequel about the 50's?

Well, if the show ends up using the virus and wipes and the supes, it makes sense to cancel Gen v and make a prequel show. Not saying that’s how it will end but it makes it more likely for sure.

The Boys universe is just too on the nose now. It wasn't intentional, they would write what they thought was an exaggerated, satirical version of a superpowered nation gone mad and they didn't go far enough in their exaggeration, no fault of their own.

I loved the season 1 but the second one was a huge downgrade in quality, especially the disastrous finale. Even Hamish Linklater's phenomenal acting couldn't save the season, and I wouldn't have tuned in for a possible season 3 so good riddance, I guess.

I tried watching the show. First few epsiodes were loaded with cursing and sexual content. Not much of a show.
