IMO his best song is Gentle on My Mind, by John Hartford.

This song absolutely rips. But why's it being posted daily now?

I’ve always loved this song. But it’s one of those songs I forget, sometimes hear at a grocery store, or some store radio. Then I was listening to Flea’s new album and recognized his cover of it. Figured I’d look up the original and post it.

[Not sure if podcasts are your thing, but this podcast I love did a beautiful deep dive into this song. ](https://feeds.strongsongspodcast.com/link/22773/15277277/default_tc.mp3)

Oh shit. Does flea cover it? Red Hot Chili Peppers are way into pedophilia. That's not a jape at you, but RHCP are basically the Jarod Leto of music.

Why do I keep getting down voted for this?

This version is fantastic, the recording at that time had such a silky sound and it's such a great song. Really love and highly recommend The Meters cover of this song too.

I literally just heard the Nick Cave cover of this song yesterday which randomly came into a Spotify playlist.

Dwight Yokam does a terrific version on the album ‘Under the Covers’

This song can evoke a mood like few others can.

Pretty insane chord transitions. Wow. It’s probably not a popular take, but I think the strings are actually distracting. Great song either way.

I would not classify this song as "folk." It was a pop song in its day, and it still is.

I don’t care.

Great song, but weird that it's been posted at least twice in the last few days. Was it recently highlighted somewhere that it's in everyone's mind this week? (edit: Flea has an album out? I guess I'll have to look up the cover)

The Meters’ version of this is the best to me.
