Check the new poster, it's just the full screenplay of the movie
32
BushyBrowz Mar 27, 2026 +6
The after credits scene is going to be a 2 hour rough cut of the third movie.

Qorhat Mar 27, 2026 +6
Get in Charles Dance or Ian McKellen or someone with real Shakespearean gravitas for the wee pink blob
6
mikeyfreshh Mar 27, 2026 +521
They should make the whole Star Fox team the voices of the Top Gun Maverick cast. Miles Teller as Falco, please
521
KingMario05 Mar 27, 2026 +172
Tom Cruise as Andross pls

One who can take a big step back and, quite literally, f*** his own face.
11
vashed Mar 27, 2026 +15
See back in college, I already casted star fox: Matt Damon as Fox (this is the least important casting imo) Nic Cage as Peppy Keanu Reeves as Falco Winona Rider as Slippy Jason Statham as Star Wolf Danny DeVito as Pigma Jean Reno as Leon Shia LeBouf as Andrew Bill Hader as Bill Allison Brie as Kat Idris Elba as General Pepper Gary Oldman as Andross This is very late 00's coded I realize but I stand by all but Fox and Andrew's casting now.
15
whiteshark70 Mar 27, 2026 +11
>Danny DeVito as Pigma >Bill Hader as Bill Incredible picks all around, but I was hoping they'd be Wario and Waluigi lol
11
Martel1234 Mar 27, 2026 +7
The fact we are getting Fox McCloud before Wario, Waluigi, and Daisy is crazy
7
ThouBear8 Mar 27, 2026 +3
When can we have this version? I want it.
3
roshmatic Mar 27, 2026 +6
Nah. Tom Cruise as James McCloud
6
KingMario05 Mar 27, 2026 +3
Better yet: >!Cruise as both lol!<
3
Pale_Possibility5083 Mar 27, 2026 +11
Cruise should play Star Wolf though.
11
Mister-Distance-6698 Mar 27, 2026 +65
Tom Cruise as Slippy or I quit.
65
mikeyfreshh Mar 27, 2026 +62
That would be funny but Tom Cruise as Wolf would actually be pretty sick

2
Luster-Purge Mar 27, 2026 +6
That'd be interesting since I think it's a *requirement to amputate your legs below the knees* so your blood doesn't drain into your feet and cause you to black out while piloting those things.
6
KingMario05 Mar 27, 2026 +5
It is. But Tom will try to do it anyway. Nintendo: "Oh, well. We've been meaning to randomly give Lockheed Martin billions of dollars anyway..."

>Miles Teller as Falco, please i had the same thought! he’s been my personal fancast for ages Miles Teller playing Rooster in Top Gun Maverick and then voicing a literal pilot chicken would be perfectly on the nose i also want Giancarlo Esposito to voice Wolf and Mark Hamill to voice Andross if they show up in some capacity

It’s also not a spoiler if Nintendo already promoted it, lol.
46

People have become so insane about spoilers. I can’t believe promotional images and trailers are now considered spoilers.
29

Video game fans have been that insane about spoilers for a while.

Is it really a spoiler if it's in a bunch of news sites?
1
ShanklyGates_2022 Mar 27, 2026 +152
Wait i saw this elsewhere and assumed it was a joke/meme. Idgaf about the Mario movie but if we are talking about a potential future Star Fox movie i am totally there
152
agarret83 Mar 27, 2026 +22
I assume there’s just going to be some cameos from other Nintendo characters. They featured a Pikmin cameo in one teaser
22
Skinkybob Mar 27, 2026 +7
You don’t cast Glen Powell for a cameo. Even if it’s a cameo in this movie, this basically means we’re either getting a Star Fox movie or we’re jumping straight to Super Smash Bros.
7
ArrogantAlmond Mar 28, 2026 +4
They cast Donald Glover as Yoshi.
4
HardcoreKaraoke Mar 27, 2026 +1
Also ROB too, although I don't know if people would consider it a "character." I guess so since it's playable in Smash.
1
AevnNoram Mar 27, 2026 +77
This is Nintendo setting up the NCU and a Smash Bros. Avenger-style movie /s (please be /s)

Please be NOT /s. That shit would be sick.
95
Kwilly462 Mar 27, 2026 +70
I still don't understand why people don't want this. Do you guys just not want cool stuff?
70
Chiperoni Mar 27, 2026 +34
Yeah, like as mid a movie as the first Mario movie was it did nothing to damage anybody's love of the franchise.
34
CallMeShaggy57 Mar 27, 2026 +30
It was a whimsical animated comedy meant to be pure fun and it accomplished that. It doesn't have to be Scorsese.
30
I_heart_hearts Mar 27, 2026 +28
Everyone is just so f****** hyperbolic nowadays. Something either has to be Lawrence of Arabia or it's just absolute trash. There is no in between and it's exhausting. People can't just have fun watching a nice calm animated movie
28
Chiperoni Mar 27, 2026 +2
That's my point. I enjoyed it but never went in expecting it to be a masterpiece of cinema. And even though it wasn't Finding Nemo, I had a good time, and will continue to love Mario.
2
Stef-fa-fa Mar 27, 2026 +6
Mid? That movie killed in theaters. It scratched all the right nostalgia itches for the adults and was a blast for the kids. I personally loved it. You got game-accurate character designs, call outs to a bunch of classic Mario games, and a straight up Smash Bros fight with DK - not to mention a Rainbow Road mario-kart battle/race complete with Blue Shell. The only complaints I've heard about the movie were with some of the voice casting. But besides that and saving Yoshi for the end credit sequel teaser, what exactly would have needed to happen to elevate that movie from "mid" to "S-Tier"?
6
CapNCookM8 Mar 27, 2026 +23
When they say "mid" they aren't stakeholders that care about how much money the movie made, they just think it's a servicable movie. I love mario and I *liked* the Mario movie, but come on, it's just a series of set pieces made for you to wojack point at. It's fun, I like it enough for that reason, I agree the character designs are fine (though I don't think Mario looks any better in the movie than Odyssey), but let's not act like this is high art here. It's a decent kids movie with characters I love, but it's not an amazing storyline that made me feel anything more deep than "Woah! That's the eel from Mario 64!"
23
TannerThanUsual Mar 27, 2026 +7
Dude it's not like Mario had this complex narrative that needs a master class in storytelling to appropriately capture its vibe. The *games* are a series of set pieces for us to wojack point at. It's not meant to be deep. It's meant to be fun.
7
NecroCannon Mar 27, 2026 +2
The games are basically fun interactive toys, there’s nothing close to the level of refinery they put in the experience. The first movie is a fun trip to the theaters, or something fun to put on for a movie night, but it isn’t like the game as a movie… if that makes sense. Basically I’m eager to check out Sonic 4, but Mario Movie 2 has yet to be seen if it’ll light a broader interest in Mario, for me at least. I don’t say that to hate either, I want it to be good, I f****** love Nintendo. I just want shit like KPDH that I WANT to put on constantly, it can be cheesy, but there gotta be some substance with the fun
2
CapNCookM8 Mar 27, 2026 +2
I agree, but that's exactly why the games aren't a masterpiece in narrative either. If I doodle a stickman and that's all I set out to do, is that somehow better than the Sistine Chapel? Of course not.
2
Luster-Purge Mar 27, 2026 +6
This. The entire Mario Kart sequence (and really, needing the Kongs *at all)* was so laughably *pointless* that you could have cut it and the only change you would have had to make the Mario/Donkey Kong 'father' talk right after it happen somewhere else.
6
MarcsterS Mar 27, 2026 +7
A generally agreed complaint was that the Mario movie was mostly just references. Plenty of fans are already a bit miffed that that *Mario Galaxy* movie…isn’t really about Mario Galaxy. And now we have a 3rd character not part of Mario in the *Mario* movie.
7
HeldnarRommar Mar 27, 2026 +2
Mario doesn’t really have a cohesive worldbuilding beyond that bare minimum though, it’s a pure gameplay type of game series. They only have so much material to flesh out without dipping into other Nintendo series
2
KingMario05 Mar 27, 2026 +3
Thank you for understanding my complaint. I like >!Star Fox!<. I like Glen Powell. (Hit Man is awesome, go stream it.) I f****** ***love*** Mario Galaxy, however. And both of those are taking away from the latter. Furthermore, if they revealed *this*, what else have they shoved in there? Tabbu? Link? Samus? They're all great. But this is the *Mario GALAXY movie.* I want *Galaxy* stuff. I don't want D******* Smash. If I wanted that, I'd play the real thing.
3
ChiefQueef98 Mar 27, 2026 +2
It's 100% nostalgia bait, but it's nostalgia bait that's perfectly targeted at me so I'm willing to let it slide.
2
Bionic_Bromando Mar 27, 2026 +2
Maybe they want cooler stuff
2
Nehemiah92 Mar 27, 2026 +1
I want it, but I personally don’t trust Illuminations with handling that. They cannot write good or captivating movies, it’s just pretty colors and slapstick humor. Also I feel like it’d work better as a series than a single movie
1
HardcoreKaraoke Mar 27, 2026 +2
Even disregarding the Legend of Zelda movie it would be incredibly odd to have Star Fox, Pikmin and Rob in a Mario Galaxy movie without a larger plan. Especially since the movie is already PACKED with random Mario characters people haven't thought about in years. Also hiring Glen Powell definitely seems like a long term hire, not just a quick cameo.
2
juesea Mar 27, 2026 +1
The subspace emissary is basically that in my opinion. Would be cool if they adapted it but they're probably gonna do ultimate
1
Totheendofsin Mar 27, 2026 +7
Rumor is theyre working on a new Star Fox game too, maybe the movie appearance is just the start of them trying to bring the series back in a big way
7
simbacole7 Mar 27, 2026 +1
You'll be please to know NatetheHate said in their episode this morning there will be a new star fox game coming out this summer

I kinda hated the first Mario movie and couldnt even finish it. But I’ll be there for Galaxy and for Star Fox, in theaters.
1
jxher123 Mar 27, 2026 +1
End credit scene: “We have a smash initiative, and we need you Mario…”
1
theREVERSEsystem Mar 27, 2026 +77
F*** it why not? Make a Star Fox movie and I’ll be there lol
77
argoslx Mar 27, 2026 +13
It’s gotta be coming right?
13
WulfwoodsSins Mar 27, 2026 +19
And then all these movies end with familiar looking envelopes appearing in post credits scenes ...

2
HardcoreKaraoke Mar 27, 2026 +4
I think casting Glen Powell basically confirms they're atleast doing something after the Mario Galaxy movie. It seems like such a big name to attach to a bit part.
4
samthewisetarly Mar 27, 2026 +1
It is coming but Hollywood is gonna DO A BARREL ROLL
1
mrbaryonyx Mar 27, 2026 +3
Genuinely would like a Star Fox movie more than a Smash Bros movie
3
killedbygavrilo2 Mar 27, 2026 +1
Make it in the stop motion style of the Fantastic Mr Fox
1
ManajaTwa18 Mar 27, 2026 +68
I know people hate celebrity voice castings but this is kind of awesome lmao. Like, I could totally see Powell carrying a whole Star Fox movie.
68
sylveonce Mar 27, 2026 +20
Yeah I don’t care for Glen Powell in everything (it was hard to believe him as a downtrodden Everyman in \*The Running Man\*) but I can’t argue with him as Fox McCloud
20
bautin Mar 27, 2026 +11
Shit, this whole time I was thinking about Glenn *Howerton* until you mentioned The Running Man. Howerton would have been way more hilarious. "I'm a 5 star pilot!"
11
classyraptor Mar 27, 2026 +3
That was what I read at first too and got excited. Then I saw Powell and went, meh
3
TipProfessional880 Mar 27, 2026 +5
After watching Hit Man, I hopped aboard the Glen Powell train. He really seems to give it his "all" in whatever role he does & isn't afraid to get silly with a role. Chad Powers is a clear example of this.
5
Bitter-Whole-7290 Mar 27, 2026 +10
I have no idea why they had to even reveal the character. Would have been soooo much better being a surprise.
10
KoboldsForDays Mar 27, 2026 +4
Big names are partially marketing tools
4
crockoreptile Mar 27, 2026 +108
It’s so funny how they can lock the f*** in with casting, and still chose to give Chris Pratt the role of Mario
108
Mister-Distance-6698 Mar 27, 2026 +70
The part I always found you funny was my own initial gut reaction. "Mario is Chris Pratt" Me: WTF no way he isnt Italian. "Luigi is Charlie Day" (who is also not Italian) Me: Perfect casting no notes.
70
carcrash12 Mar 27, 2026 +39
Same. Seth Rogen is famously not a gorilla but the second I saw him cast as Donkey Kong I just thought "yep. Makes total sense"
39
mrbaryonyx Mar 27, 2026 +5
>Seth Rogen is famously not a gorilla ok but he is close enough
5
ContinuumGuy Mar 27, 2026 +7
This reminds me of how John Leguizamo complained the movie had no Hispanics when the live action movie he was in had him (a Colombian) as Luigi... and then Seth Rogen's The Studio had a joke about how Anya Taylor-Joy is white Hispanic ("Two birds with one stone!")
7
Adept128 Mar 27, 2026 +1
Hear this: Glenn Howerton as Waluigi
1
RooMan7223 Mar 27, 2026 +6
Let’s be real, nobody would be able to stomach Mario’s original voice for a whole movie. Pratt was decent enough and atleast he put on an accent for it
6
afty Mar 28, 2026 +1
Didn't need to be the high pitched Martinet mario voice, all you needed was a voice actor who could do a decent brooklyn accent (more like the 90s cartoon). It's not either Chris Pratt OR a Martinet soundalike. There were lots of options. Pratt didn't put any effort into his mario at all he sounds just like himself and his 'accent' was in and out the whole movie. Based on the trailers for the second one he's trying even less this time around.
1
CardiologistMain7237 Mar 27, 2026 +28
He did a pretty decent job though?
28
snowe99 Mar 27, 2026 +13
People forget that Chris Pratt as Emmett from the Lego Movie is a great voice performance. And he also voice acted in a Pixar movie prior to Mario. He’s not some fake voice actor.
13
HardcoreKaraoke Mar 27, 2026 +2
I thought the meme wasn't that Pratt sucked, it was that he was in so many animated films. Personally I liked his Mario. It wasn't my favorite voiceover in the movie but it wasn't horrible.
2
MarcsterS Mar 27, 2026 +18
The bar was pretty low. Not awful, but it could’ve been anyone.
18
AHatForYourRat Mar 27, 2026 +15
Yeah like it's an eh sort of choice but it's honestly pretty inoffensive. He did fine. A lot of the rest of the cast were great choices though. Jack Black as Bowser being the obvious one. Charlie Day as Luigi and Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach are standouts for me.
15
roto_disc Mar 27, 2026 +2
Fingers crossed for a Charlie Day *Luigi’s Mansion* movie.
2
V2Blast Mar 27, 2026 +2
Hell yeah
2
Void_Guardians Mar 27, 2026 +4
Im not sure about how locked in their choices are, they seem to just be hiring big names for pull
4
Luster-Purge Mar 27, 2026 +6
Given they went for a very different take on Mario's background being from Brooklyn (so he still can have raw Italian heritage but doesn't have to sound *insanely, aggressively* Italian), Chris Pratt wasn't the worst choice they could have made.
6
ItIsYeDragon Mar 27, 2026 +4
Mario has always been from Brooklyn, this isn't a different take.
4
darklightrabbi Mar 27, 2026 +6
Who would you have cast?
6
SerHodorTheThrall Mar 27, 2026 +5
Danny Devito
5
Caiur Mar 27, 2026 +9
This is probably the 3000th time I've seen someone in an internet comment section suggest Danny DeVito for a role. From now on - every time someone suggests Danny DeVito for a role, I will strangle a penguin. The blood of the poor bird will be on your hands
9
DragoSphere Mar 27, 2026 +4
That penguin's actor? Danny Devito
4
crockoreptile Mar 27, 2026 +1
I’ll give it a shot
1
binglebongle Mar 27, 2026 +2
He’s so cool!
2
legalizethesenuts Mar 27, 2026 +14
I like Glenn Powell. He cowrote Chad Powers and that shit was so f****** funny. He’s like a handsomer Danny McBride. Don’t get me wrong. No one could replace Daddy McBride. Powell is only more handsome.
14
Qorhat Mar 27, 2026 +5
A hands … A _handsomer_ Danny McBride?! You can’t improve on perfection son.
5
Batusiman Mar 27, 2026 +24
Honestly I dig this choice
24
WinterWolf18 Mar 27, 2026 +14
I actually love this choice and think it's perfect? Holy shit.
14
FlipTheMushroom Mar 27, 2026 +20
NCU (Nintendo Cinematic Universe) confirmed?
20
AHatForYourRat Mar 27, 2026 +15
I know some people don't want it and it's probably corny as hell but Smash Bros being the goal is sort of a childhood dream come true for me
15
argoslx Mar 27, 2026 +5
More like the smash bros universe.
5
KingMario05 Mar 27, 2026 +1
Unfortunately. :/ (God, if Illumination kill the current run of Sonic movies somehow, I'll cry.)
1
carloslet Mar 27, 2026 +5
If they don't cast Danny DeVito as Wario I swear to God
5
Brainwheeze Mar 27, 2026 +1
Watch it be Danny McBride.
1
carloslet Mar 27, 2026 +2
Only if Walton Goggins do Waluigi (as Uncle Baby Billy)
2
Azrael-XIII Mar 27, 2026 +5
I appreciate the [Spoiler] attempt, but it’s pretty much everywhere at this point (it’s not like Nintendo themselves are even trying to hide it)
5
popculturella Mar 27, 2026 +4
I cannot for the life of me figure out why they thought spoiling this right before the movie comes out was a good idea.
4

“Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Beach” Jesus Christ Variety…

I know, dropping a spoiler that there's a brand new Nintendo princess? Tsk tsk
1

1

Interesting choice

It’s not a spoiler, it’s on the poster for God’s sake
3
ashmaht Mar 27, 2026 +6
I hope he does the Chad Powers voice
6
KingMario05 Mar 27, 2026 +2
He's dressed similar, so maybe. Depends on if Disney gave him the okay.
2
PM_ME_YOUR_GREYJOYS Mar 27, 2026 +2
I believe you’re confusing Chad Powers with Russ Holliday, because if Disney gives him the okay to be Chad Powers we’re going to have the weirdest Fox McCloud ever. I’m still all for it
2
tazfdragon Mar 27, 2026 +7
Since when is a casting choice spoilable information.
7
NATHAN4U007 Mar 27, 2026 +8
I hope the comments are not all about how he is everywhere and Hollywood is desperate to make him the next star like in every other thread about Glen Powell
8

Literally the comment under yours (on my phone at least).
2

Was the spoiler necessary? I don't even know how that would impact the story.

I really hope there is a "Do a barrel roll" line in the film

Yep, we’re getting a >!Star Fox!< movie. And apparently a game with the latest leak about one that has been in development and will be out this summer.

Boofster Mar 27, 2026 +2
yay. anyway.

Atmosphere817 Mar 27, 2026 +2
So with this… I’ll throw some future fan casting out their with a dash of Hollywood’s habit of “synergy”: - Falco - Miles Teller - Peppy - Nick Offerman - Slippy - Pamela Adlon - Wolf - Stephen Lang

superyoshiom Mar 27, 2026 +2
Atp I think the possibility of a Smash movie is higher than ever though this could also just be Miyamoto wanting his babies in Pikmin and Star Fox to reach broader audiences.

"Mario, I'm here to tell you about the Smash Brothers initiative . . ."

Lantern61 Mar 27, 2026 +2
Oh, so they're straight building toward a Smash Bros. Movie. I'm cool with that. Doing it slowly, the MCU way.

boogswald Mar 27, 2026 +2
That makes sense to me
2
smilinganimalface Mar 27, 2026 +2
They're gonna have Fox wearing the white t-shirt in the rain and it's gonna awaken something in people.

Don’t call me out like that.

I like the posters for this movie but they kinda ruined a surprise, at least for me.

sukaihoku Mar 27, 2026 +2
Makes sense, as he tends to play the pilot roles well

Good job protecting that spoiler, Listnook. The character name is in the URL, which is clearly visible Not that I really care, just funny.

They've legitimately set up so many viable spin-offs and potential additions to this universe, I'm just curious to know what the plan is. From the first movie alone, we saw them clearly build the foundations for: * Captain Toad and his whole crew * Luigi's Mansion/Luigi vs. King Boo * The Entire Donkey Kong Country * Mario Kart as an in-universe sport, complete with Rainbow Road And from what we've seen of prerelease materials for Galaxy, we can add the following: * Every character/world featured in both Galaxy games and Odyssey * Whatever version of Yoshi Lore they want to pursue * The existence of some sort of shared universe/multiverse that includes Subcon from Mario Bros 2 (and its entire cast of characters) and the Lylat System from Star Fox (with the same, I have to assume) The idea here is that Space = Different Universes, which was more or less the logic behind the first movie. So it feels incredibly likely that Nintendo will loop in other space-themed characters and worlds, which means I'm going to straight up predict the following additional cameos: * Kirby, full stop * Captain Olimar and/or The Pikmin * Some sort of reference to F-Zero * Some sort of reference to The Galactic Federation from Metroid * Setting up Rosalina and some version of Donkey Kong's lore that ties into Bananza and/or allows K. Rool to exist If there is a line I'm not sure they want to cross right now, it's **the addition of Non-Mario Humanoid Characters.** We've established that Humans in these movies all look like Mario/Peach/Rosalina, and introducing Samus or Captain Falcon would either require them to hilariously clash visually, or be massively softened to match everyone else. I don't see Nintendo wanting to do that for those characters; Pikmin and Kirby already match Illumination's tone. But to get back to my point: **I want to know what the PLAN is for all this.** Is it truly just a laundry list of references and easter eggs? Is this just rolling out the next decade of Super Nintendo World rides and attractions? Or do Nintendo and Illumination genuinely plan to make a half-dozen NCU spinoffs in the years to come? It's something, but I hope it leads to something more than Spot The Reference.

Have you played Odyssey? Nintendo don't give a f***. They had a city of realistic human models and Mario just going about his business like normal.

NowGoodbyeForever Mar 27, 2026 +1
Oh, absolutely! Nintendo doesn't care, and it's charming. Reminded me of Station Square in Sonic Adventure. But for a movie, that kind of model-incompatibility just feels different. It can be done, but it requires a lot of work and craft and audience buy-in. A great example would be *Wreck-it Ralph*, right? Each character comes from a different game, so we accept those art style differences accordingly, like aliens from *Star Trek*. Ralph looks like he's a different species from Vanellope. We'll have to wait and see in Galaxy, but the first *Mario* movie took pains to have stylistic consistency even across Koopas, Kongs, and Humans. And we saw a modern-day New York City where *everyone* looks like Mario and Luigi, right? So again, introducing an angular, 8-foot-tall Samus Aran would feel weird/hilarious. Not saying it's impossible by any means, it just feels like that might represent the tonal/visual line that Nintendo and Illumination don't want to cross.

I wonder if Miyamoto wanted Tom Cruise, but chose to get the other Top Gun guy?

TriggerHippie77 Mar 27, 2026 +1
Why is a character featured on promotional material a spoiler?
1
cimino15 Mar 27, 2026 +1
I'm incredible confused by all the people treating this stuff as spoilers. Nintendo is literally putting out posters and videos of this announcement, like they would any casting. If this "spoils" your enjoyment....man. Very sad.
1
RosieQParker Mar 27, 2026 +1
Is it really a spoiler to say that a popular Nintendo character is going to make a brief appearance in the next Mario movie? That's like the entire premise.
1
imapiratedammit Mar 27, 2026 +1
Why do movies keep spoiling themselves? It would have been a cool surprise. Is a practically abandoned IP going to bring in a lot more viewers?

twec21 Mar 27, 2026 +1
So did a representative from r/furry reach out to him before he agreed so he knows what he's getting into?
1
pishposhpoppycock Mar 27, 2026 +1
So Nintendo is really building out their NCU... culminating into what I'm assuming will be a Smash movie as their version of an Avengers movie, correct? Who's gonna be the first major villain of the Smash movie? Tabuu? Master Hand?

As far as I know, Fox McCloud isn’t really involved in the Mario Galaxy lore. Are they just loading up for a Smash Bros movie?
1
PokeballSoHard Mar 28, 2026 +1
So they're setting up for super smash bros universe right? The Mario movies are to that what iron man was to marvel?

original_goat_man Mar 28, 2026 +1
They better have f****** Slippy in it doing a barrel roll
