Go Speed Go!!!

SPEED RACER (2008) was PHENOMENAL! Being a huge action fan where we've had amazing car movies from the 60s 70s 80s 90s 2000s and 2010s! with nail biting, high octane scenes that have you in great disbelief! from transformers to mad max to James Bond to Jason Bourne to the fast and furious franchise and the batman car chases! Practical effects that made you watch the BTS religiously just get a semblance of how these movie makers, actors, cinematographers, stunt coordinators, and pyrotechnic professionals were able to pull off a shot like that to capture the emotions of movie goers who appreciate true craftsmanship 🙌 Growing up (32M) on my folks' old speed racer animated tapes, watching that 2008 movie sent me into a COMA! Albeit not as practical as the other movies I've mentioned or the ones you're thinking about, the list for great car sequences are many, even when the movie flopped! Speed Racer (2008) felt like candy to watch with all those CGI shots but man! those quick switch camera angles during the fights and races with seamless transitions and sound effects, had me in a major chokehold! and the cast was PHENOMENAL too! Now!... the final race in the movie when Speed's car is damaged and he closes his eyes to feel the breathtaking machine that is the MARK 6. Holding onto that wheel like a spiritual realm had been opened. He trusts the machine, the machine trusts him! and in that moment he ignites the engine and the engine roars to life, was the mark 6 telling Speed that it's "GO TIME." The car blasts off as these montage videos of the past play about everything Speed Racer is, has me hyperventilating 😭😭😭😭 Speed racer and that mark 6 go ULTRA INSTINCT and just cleans that final lap with everyone whoever thought they were the shit, and sends them back to the stone age! That heartfelt music in the background playing as Speed contemplates his past hurt and betrayal, along with thoughts of the people who picked him up when he was down bad, feeling the loss of hope, had me in tears 😭 And when he finally wins the race and the car barely makes it in one piece across the finish line with damage, oil leaking and smoke coming out of it, that's when I told myself that this movie will never leave me! Also, in hindsight, I'm glad they only made one movie despite it bombing at the box office. SPEED RACER (2008) will FOREVER BE IN MY HEART ❤️
