GOP derails bid to stop Missouri gerrymander for 2026
The ruling has likely killed attempts to stop Republicans from imposing the new map for the midterms.

It’s the slow walk strategy in real time. The GOP essentially admitted the ballot language was biased, but they successfully dragged the process out long enough that the Missouri Supreme Court is letting them use the rigged map for the 2026 midterms anyway. Even if voters overturn it in November, the damage is already done for this cycle.

There should be civil penalties for those in the legislature who did this.

With how Dems are overperforming all over the country, even in deep red areas, this gerrymandered map could blow up in the GOPs face

Add it to the ever growing list of things the Missouri GOP do that goes against the direct will of the people.

I lived in Missouri for over 20 years. The people there think they can have their cake and eat it too. What happens is the politicians they vote in, do everything in their power to weaken whatever amendment that gets passed via direct democracy. I’d feel sorry for them, but shooting your self in the foot (outside of politics as well) is ingrained into the culture of Missouri.

Gerrymandering works by looking at how votes were done previously, moving some excess votes from one district to another, ensuring two wins rather than one bigger win and one loss. Problem is that require voters to vote similar to last election. If there is a significant move to the left, they end up making both district losers instead. They already lost a few districts because of it. Don't know the specifics in Missouri, but if the non-MAGA voters are as angry there it can certainly backfire.
