Got my first wig install…

Posted by Maleficent_Apple9892

Y’all, wigs are no joke. It’s sooo itchy I can’t wait to take it off. I had gone with my friend to get an install on Saturday - was really wanting colorful hair without having to bleach my natural hair. Got this light purple wig. The install looked good the first day but by the next morning the style was all messed up and by the 3rd day the lace was lifting. Now the itching is a solid 8/10 and I gotta wear a headband so nobody asks me nothin bout my lace. I can’t wait to rip this wig off my head but people at work be so nosey😭they mean well but I know if I take the wig off within the span of 3-4 days of them being introduced to it they’re going to have a lot to say. I know I can’t live for other people yadayada but y’all I’m trying to wait until the end of tomorrow (Friday). It was cute while it lasted though I wanna get another install just contemplating what color I should do next😌

I have alopecia so very little hair and people have asked why I dont wear a wig and this is why. I feel like the itching would be unbearable.

Yess it’s so bad😂I been sticking a rat tail comb up there to itch the spots I can’t reach. Also, I wonder if a glue-less wig you could just sit on top of your head would work better? I would think it’d be a little less itchy because no product irritation, bald/wig cap, or glue. If you did wear a wig would you do a fun color or something natural?

I won't even force it till Friday.Comfort, people being nosey. They'll talk for like 2minutes and move on anyway. The light purple sounds fire though 👀 what color are you thinking next?

You’re rightttt, I was anxious about what they’d say on Monday but it really wasn’t that bad. Mostly just compliments. A lot of them thought I dyed my hair so I know they’ll be confused when I come in with my natural hair color and longer hair😂it’s a little funny actually. But I like to blend into the wall, ya know? I wanna try a teal/turquoise color… lol saying I want to blend into the wall and then saying I’m gonna glue a teal wig onto my head🤦🏻‍♀️I’m just asking for it.

Hast du mal in den Foren ( krebspatienten und drag Queens haben das Thema öfter) nach Ideen gesucht, was gegen das jucken hilft ?

Oooh that’s a good idea! I’m gonna take a peak. I should probably oil my scalp a little better next time.

This is why I wore soft hats when I lost my hair to chemo. Wigs suck!

Same! I started to realize how easy having no hair was! I’m certainly glad it grew back but it was a nice break during a stressful time. I wore slouchy beanies with cute pins on them instead. Wigs do suck!

Also hope you're doing better after chemo

I am itching just reading this. I wouldn’t wait till Friday to take it off. What specifically are you worried about people at work saying? “It was a wig, it itched, lesson learned” seems like it would quickly answer any questions anyone asked you?

I knowww😩it’s silly. It’s just anxiety, it’s really not even all that bad when they do start asking questions. But also I promised I’d keep it on for at least a week since I paid for ittt

I can totally relate to trying to keep a style through your work week! Maybe glue less with bangs would be easier. You can take it off and wash or oil your scalp as needed.

Ooouu that’s a good idea🤏I’m gonna try a glue less wig next. Might be easier to install. I might look silly with bangs though😂

You should look up Tomeka Taylor and ask her. She makes glueless wigs, and I’ll bet she has a solution to the itching.

You could try a glueless wig. It's mch more manageable than the glued ones since you can easily put it on and take off at night!
