As a high school teacher, I’m always kind of surprised by how many students mention watching this show on streaming.

He went to surgery before firefighter, got the order mixed up a bit, that said I haven’t watched the last few seasons, he didn’t go back did he?

I'm pretty sure he's a plastics resident now

You are no longer the age you were when you started watching anything, if we’re being real pedantic.

Every few years there is a next gen of doctors so there is always a jumping point to bring in new audiences.

At least this should help explain and provide some answers to anyone wondering why the show keeps getting renewed and is still on air. 👍

Yep. People don’t realise that while the shows current form might not be a ratings juggernaut or be particularly interesting at all, it helps keep public awareness of the show and push people to the earlier seasons on Disney+. Seasons 1-10 is what audiences actually like, and the shows current form is a marketing funnel to get them there.

Grey’s Anatomy isn’t a show anymore, it’s background radiation at this point. Nielsen should honestly make a separate “perpetual comfort rewatch” chart just for it.

It‘s really like that. I love to put it on while I have breakfast or when I want to scroll through my phone. Half of each episode is background noise, the other half is actually enjoyable.

I was looking at the Nielsen ratings recently and saw that Americas Funniest Home Videos was a Top 10 show. My mind was blown. TV is an absolute wasteland these days.

Maybe the show should just remake the original scripts and see how it goes. Save on writers and spend the money on production value.

Its always funny when Listnookors find out that shows not being popular on Listnook isn't a reflection of how popular they actually are.

Is this because it’s still making new episodes, or is this because people just love it that much?
I’ll never forget walking in on my girlfriend and mom watching it, looking at Heigl talking to some dude and just saying “he’s gonna die” and walking out.
They were really pissed at me later because apparently he was *already dead* and Heigl was hallucinating him.

The shows current seasons aren’t widely popular or watched, but they act as a marketing tool to keep up brand awareness and push people to the first 10 seasons on Disney+.

Take it with an AI-generated grain of salt, but Grey's Anatomy has apparently made ABC 4.7 billion dollars so far.

And despite that and creating other juggernauts for ABC/Disney, the showrunner Shonda Rhimes fell out with them because they refused to give her an extra ticket for her sister to go to Disneyland with her. They originally gave her two free tickets, but she requested an extra ticket for her sister to go with her to help her look after her kids. An exec pushed back and asked her if they didn't already give her enough free stuff. She was so offended by that, she took her next show (Bridgerton) to Netflix instead.

Her request was a bit over the top. It was barely over a hundred bucks. She could’ve just paid the third ticket.

I can see the reasoning for both sides, but I'll generally side with a creator over a billion dollar corporation. Both sides had the money, but it was barely anything for Disney to cover to keep one of their most prominent creators happy.

Nielsen belongs in the 80s-2000s. It is not relevant.
