> Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy
Still mind-boggling that former Real World contestant Sean Duffy is Transportation Secretary.
I'm sure he was the most qualified person for the job.

I just read his Wikipedia and wtf. Dude was indeed a world champion lumberjack speed climber, originally inspired by some of his 10 siblings to start log rolling at the age of 5, and was later at one point considered the one of the top American lumberjacks by The New York Times.
His climbing technique was extremely reckless. Where the f*** do they find these people.

Who else remembers those couple years immediately after 9/11? Between those and the anthrax attacks and the DC snipers and for a long time every unusual happenstance had people scrambling because we thought another attack was happening. This is starting to feel the same.

I’m saying this with all the respect in the world. The counter argument is strength. We learned from all those horrible events. We developed systems. We trained people to recognize the early warning signs. We implemented new government agencies post 9/11. We changed the way existing agencies communicate and work. We taught the public how important it is to report unusual behavior. We spend more, year over year, on defense than the entire continent of Europe combined.
The people doing the work aren’t stupid. They aren’t weak. They aren’t under funded.
The f*** is Iran actually going to do that we can’t handle?
-4
eezeepeezeebreezeeMar 15, 2026
+1
So you’re not actually not anxious because it’s something you can’t control. You’re not anxious because you trust that the US military’s got you. Basically defeats your whole statement that I replied to initially. But yeah thanks for the astute analysis; I was under the impression the Iran was gonna take over the US.

SeaTraffic6442Mar 16, 2026
Iran’s leaders spent what, the last 30 years chanting “Death to America”? If they had the capacity to act on that, it would have happened already.

Not really the same IMO. 9/11 was genuinely terrifying for Americans and people were rightfully scared of what else al Qaeda could do. It was and still is the most sophisticated, most destructive and deadliest attack by a terror group in world history and will likely remain that way.
This time everyone knows that we fucked up and created this mess. And we also know that Iran doesn't have some kind of secret 9/11 card up their sleeve. They probably have small sleeper cells scattered around the US and Europe that could pull off low-level assassinations or maybe do something like shoot up a shopping mall, but none of that is especially novel in this day and age and Americans would likely forget about it after a few days.

And trumps a second away from purposely letting it happen, if he even was capable of stopping it, just to try to raise his approval level like a dead cat bounce.

I was on a flight today in CLT heading to PHL and my flight was stopped on the run way due to a ground stop issued in Philadelphia. We sat off to the side of the runway for like 2 hours before we eventually took off. The pilot blamed it on malfunctioning air traffic control equipment.
Kind of a weird coincidence

While true, pilots seem to LOVE blaming anything and everything on ATC haha. Poor ATC. Insanely stressful and high-scrutiny job, many with 6-day work weeks, high burnout rates, and no flight benefits!
Have some patience and gratitude for ATC, folks.
