I don't know why they're worried about something that has already happened.
Trump taught Iran it can, at any point, inflict catastrophic economic damage not only to its neighbors, but also the world economy, and the US can't do anything about it.

The ability to block the straight and the potential damages doing so would cause was never some secret and had been known for decades by many experts including both Iran and the Pentagon. What America gave Iran however was a clear political/military excuse to do it by attacking Iran first especially during negotiations, had America not done that the international backlash of blocking an international water way protected by international law would have been alot different then it is now.
