This is great! Hadestown is probably my favorite musical. It’s sung through and on Spotify, so you can easily figure out if you want to see the recording.

The Broadway recording is phenomenal. The original cast recording before it was completely fleshed out I'm not as big a fan of, though. Eva Noblezada's voice is just perfect.

oh man I'm the exact opposite. I'm a huge fan of the original concept album with anais mitchell and bon iver and all but the show version of the album has always bounced right off of me. I'm hoping that seeing it paired with an acted out show changes my opinion though

I'm a connoisseur of the live album from the New York Theater Workshop. Damon Duanno and Chris Sullivan sound so buttery smooth.

And including  Ani DiFranco of course.  I'm a fan of anything she does, and she sounds great on the concept album.

Eva is amazing. Reeve is… very much less so.

Completely agreed. He's obviously a talented vocalist, but it's not the kind of lead I enjoy at all. He kinda reminds me of Chris Thile. But André de Shields, Patrick Page, and Amber Gray were all excellent too, so they carried me through to really love it.

From Bleecker and LD. Should be an interesting experiment. Can its success lead to a possible *Wicked* capture from Universal?

It's a recording of the musical, like Hamilton, Waitress, or Anything Goes

Yes. And I wonder if Uni will ever record the Broadway show if it pops off?

I could see that happening in a few years when they want to revive interest in the film versions.

I think that time has passed unless there’s a big name playing the leads in the next generation of stars. Hamilton recorded with the original cast in 2016, Hadestown also brought back the original cast and Waitress got Sara Bareilles in the lead when they recorded it. Original cast members of Wicked have moved on and are too old to reprise the roles.

I adore the original album this was based on and have always wanted to see the show. Excited for this.

Excellent news. I'm sure The Odyssey releasing this summer has something to do with it, so even if it's an absolute stinker it will have done something good for the world.

I actually love both recordings for different reasons. The concept album feels like a folk song cycle, while the Broadway version is a full theatrical beast. Excited to see how that stage energy translates to film.

Saw it in St. Augustine a couple years ago and thought it was great.

I still think it would make a superb old school 2D Disney-style animation too. Right from when the album first came out I've had that vision for it.

I saw this on Broadway last Fall and it was fantastic. I bought the vinyl immediately. Greek mythology and New Orleans Jazz/Blues/etc (as someone that lived there a good long while). This play was made for me and I cannot wait to see it again. The one thing I hope for is that it’s shot as well as the Hamilton capture was. Those “Fathom Event” recordings tend to suck, directing wise, but Hamilton put in the effort. I hope this turns out great.

So glad this was filmed forever ago but supposedly they wanted Hamilton money

I missed this performance by a day or two! We saw the replacement for Hades and he did an excellent job, but I am incredibly excited to see Patrick Page in the role. Love the musical.

Just saw it last week. Told my wife I felt like I needed a bourbon watching it, would just fit the style. Great show.
