The ugly drab streaming show aesthetic sticks out so f****** bad when put up against the magic of real film

Chris Columbus had a magic that none of the other directors even came close to replicating

Chris Columbus looking like Scorsese over here.

John Williams’ score will be surely missed the most by me :(

Bro it's basicaly just a 1:1 remake with worse color grading. What' s even the point aside from money?

Asclepius-Rod Mar 28, 2026 +20
*more* money

This is going to probably be 45-60 minute episodes and I assume each book will have its own season. They’re going to be able to reach much more detail.

I mean it's going to be an 8 hour adaptation vs 3 hours. Changes will be made

Bro it's an adaptation of the books, which existed before the films. And here's a little secret for you - the films were also made for money.

To retain ownership of the IP, most likely

WB has the rights in perpetuity.

And less whimsy.

I find it interesting fans have been begging for a book accurate adaption for years, and now that it finally might happen the constant complaint is it looks the exact same lol

Saw someone say the first few films were fairly book accurate, the later films not so much.

DodgerBaron Mar 28, 2026 +1
Pretty much most book fans want adaptions of book 4 on because they remove so much from the source material. Book 3 seems to be largely ok with the omissions because the films do a decent job of still referencing it.

Yep literally could have started with 3 or 4 here. Four was just killed by that movie adaptation

Harkoncito Mar 28, 2026 +4
Even the trailer has scenes not in the books, i wouldn't call it "book accurate"

DodgerBaron Mar 28, 2026 +1
We have no way of knowing as of yet, most of the fans want a book adaption of the later books where it became too big for the movie.

Yeah but the new scenes are, like, suuuuper engaging. I always found myself reading this book about a teenage wizard and kept thinking “I wish more of this took place in Surrey”

Careful not to arrange that many straw men too close together. It creates a fire hazard
1
DodgerBaron Mar 28, 2026 +1
Nowhere did I say those two groups were the same. Sounds like you're making a strawman of my argument. Edit: Damn the instant block when you don't have an argument hilarious

ElasticPlatypus Mar 28, 2026 -2
I love it when people do that thing where they learn a new word and immediately start using it all the time, even in the wrong context lol. Yes, yes, yes. That was very “strawman” of me lol
-2
DodgerBaron Mar 28, 2026 +1
But you're the one who used it lol Anyway I used it correctly, strawman is when someone misrepresents, exaggerates, or fabricates an opponent's argument to make it easier to attack. Which is what you did, I'm not saying those groups are the same. I think I made it pretty clear they're separate people in my original comment.

Your argument is that Harry Potter fans have been “begging” for a book-accurate adaptation. That’s categorically untrue. I’m happy to have taught you a new phrase though :)

DodgerBaron Mar 28, 2026 +1
What? A lot of book fans have been begging for a book accurate adaption. Nothing I said there was wrong. [Here's a post from 6 years ago wanting one ](https://www.listnook.com/r/harrypotter/comments/iek2vx/who_wants_a_harry_potter_tv_series_like_that/) Weird thing to take issue with ngl

ElasticPlatypus Mar 28, 2026 -1
That’s a single post from 6 years ago and almost every comment has the sentiment of “wow what a dumb idea.” Excellent “gotcha” journalism
-1
DodgerBaron Mar 28, 2026 +1
And? I can link more they're not hard to find lol It's weird you think Book fans aren't interested in this series for a possible book accurate adaption. And I'm sure you will shift goalpost again once the show becomes a mega hit. Because of course no one cares about this reboot lol

The main difference is that I can see the movie and the TV version makes me keep wanting to turn the light on. What the hell is up with the color-grading? It's not "atmospheric" it's just plain "moronic" and visually uninteresting. Gonna be a hard pass on this thing. It's mediocre acting along with eye-strain I don't need.

Massive_Weiner Mar 28, 2026
The same thing from 25 years ago, but now with worse color grading. Here’s hoping the new filler scenes that they’ll add do all the heavy lifting.

BabypintoJuniorLube Mar 28, 2026
I was optimistic but this looks like ass. Not adding anything new, just regurgitating nostalgia. Could've had AI make this if they just wanted something that looked exactly the same but worse.

Do this when it comes out not just the trailer

...that's the plan

They're going to make seven seasons of the same thing all over again. Aren't they?

Just like his dad and his friends. Explains why the sorting hat wanted to put him in Slytherin.
