Has anyone been using same contact number for years - like since 2000s?

I’ve had my number since I went to college in 2003.

Have had the same mobile number since at least 1995.

Same number for 21 years. It was interesting during my 20s when I’d get the late night calls on the weekend with no one speaking on the other end - just listening. Damn, the days when I dated…. Hahaha. My 30s are coming to an end and it’s mostly duct cleaning now.

We've had the same number for 34 years. We transferred our old land line number to a cell phone several years back. It was a real relief to us when the rules changed and you could keep a cell phone number when you moved or changed carriers.

Current cell phone number is also my first - almost 20 years old My original gmail from 20+ years ago is still active although it is such a junk/spam trap that I have started new business and personal gmails since then. But I still check it cause some people I've known a while still use the OG one Hell, even my license plates on my daily driver are the same plates from when I first registered a car in my own name 11 years ago, and I'm gonna keep renewing the same reg/reusing the same plates as long as NY keeps letting me do it If it ain't broke don't fix it 🤷‍♂️

My aunt moved her home number to mobile. She's had it since 1982

I've had the same number since st least 2006, if not 2004/2005? I can't remember when I got this number, but it was after my brother stopped working at Nextel which might have been in 2005? I know I got it no later than 2006 which was when my husband and I started dating. Got a Virgin Mobile prepaid phone and have kept the same number since!

I've never changed my phone number in my life, still have the first phone number from our first family plan. Honestly at this point I just keep it since it's so similar to my dad and my brothers phone numbers, no other reason.

I had the same number from 2001-2014, but I moved out of country for a year and had to give it up. I was sad about it, but in retrospect it was a good time to cut ties with anyone who I wasn’t purposefully going to be keeping in my life when I got home, haha. Now I’ve had the same number from 2015-current.

My email is 30+ years old. My Junk Mail folder amuses me.

I've had the same email and phone number since Dec of 2011, and can't foresee needing to change either even if I move to another state.

I know a lot of that haven't changed numbers in decades, myself and my family members and most of my friends.i don't think it's that unusual. Especially since you can port your number.

Pretty sure I have had the same cell phone number for roughly 30 years The area code is where I grew up, so when circumstances took me from my hometown, it was nice to have that little slice of home

Same phone number since 2001. Before that, same number from 1991-2001. And before that, same number from 1971-1991. All home landlines. Yes, I still have one. My work always asks for my cell number. I always tell them, “until you provide a work phone, you get my landline.”

We got our current cell phone numbers when we moved in 1999. Probably be the last numbers we have. My folks lived in the main house I grew up in for over 40 years. When they moved I begged them to keep their same number by moving it to a cell phone but they didn't want to confuse people in their new state with a totally different area code. There were literal generations of friends and family that all knew that number. From a time when everyone still memorized them. But nope. About 2 years later my Mom said she wished she'd listened to me. /sigh When we got our now adult kids their cell phones it struck me that unless the move out of the country they will likely be the only numbers they ever have. Very few reasons to ever change now.

I've had the same cell number since the 90's. I ported our childhood number to another cell phone that's from 1978. Most of the people that called that number are gone, but I still get an occasional call.

We had the same land-line number for about 40 years. When we moved to a new city a couple of years back, we didn’t bother getting a new land line. We’ve had the same cell numbers for at least 20 years, though, so I doubt anyone will have a problem getting in touch with us.

My parents still have the same phone number they got in the mid 90ies. They moved once in '99 and were able to take it with them as they only moved down the street. Despite not living with them for almost 20 years you could wake me up at 3am and I could tell you that number half asleep.

I had the same one for around 15 years until recently. I only changed it because I moved countries!

I had to change mine 15 years ago because I moved across the country, and they claimed that since it was a new region they couldn't keep my old number for some reason that I don't remember. I wish I could have kept it.

I have had mine since the mid 90s. My number is unusual because it's XYX-YXYX and that's not a common thing for private phone numbers. If I can, I'll will it to my kids lol.

My parents have had their same phone number for at least my whole life (I’m 57), and likely since they got married in 1966. I think when they first got it, it was just 4 or 5 digits. The two-digit “exchange” (I think that’s what it was called?) became mandatory around 1980, and the three-digit area code requirement is more recent. Does that count?

Still using my number from 2003 ish. What I find interesting is I recently got a work phone, and that thing gets spam calls all the damn time whereas my old number rarely does.

Forever ago my company gave me a cell phone that had a really easy vanity number. When eventually they kicked everyone off, I transferred it to a personal acct and kept the number. I can't remember the year, but this all happened before my kid was born. And she's 26 now

I still have the first mobile number I got with my first mobile phone. That was around 1999 I think. I see no good reason to change it. I was also one of the beta testers back in the day of gmail. I still have first name dot last name @ gmail.com. And my name isn't that uncommon.

I’ve had the same phone number for over 2 decades now. It was my mom’s and when she passed my dad gave me her cell phone instead of cancelling the line. Not sure how long she’d had it before that, but it had to be a few years at least cause I had the number memorized.

My mom and bestie still have theirs from the early 2000s. For both, I type the number in faster than I can find their numbers in my contacts. Two of my friends have called my mom looking for me because she still had the same number.

I feel sorry for whoever got the number my grandmother first got in the 1950s. At least seven of us used it as our primary number until the early 2000s.

Have one of the few original area code phone numbers in my old state. It’s bee passed down at least 2 family members before me and it will continue remaining in my family regardless of where we move(within the states).

I have had the same home phone number since 1979, although these days its connected to my fax machine because everybody texts me on my cell (same number for well over c 20 years) instead and the only people who call that number are scammers.

We've had the same house phone number for 37 years. We've changed towns. It used to be a lane line. Now it's a VOIP number. There's no bill and the quality is better than the cell.

Yep maybe 2005? It carried it through carriers. Alltel which became Verizon and where it's at now - Google Fi. I can't get rid of the number. My grandmother had me on her contract. She passed in 2021.

I’ve had number since 1998. My son took over my late husbands number after he passed in 2003, and he had that since 1996.

I owned a bag phone in 1993. I still have the same number today (obvs I’ve gone thru all the various cell phones since then). Fun fact, my husband at the time also got his girlfriend a phone for the same Xmas present and her number was one different from mine! 😂

I’ve had the same number since 2004! My first phone was the RAZR, and it was fantastic! I’ve saved contacts from high school, college and everything in between. I’ve moved a few times, but I’ve been in the same city for about 8 years now and I got a Google Voice number with a local area code instead of changing my number because I don’t want to lose it.

Had my number since I was at Uni 30 years ago - had multiple phones but always kept the number. Not quite sure why you wouldn't keep it unless actively trying to ghost someone.

1996, I purchased a vehicle with a hard wired mobile phone built in. I had the phone activated and still have that same number. Of course it is now my cellphone number.

I think I got mine in the early 00s and it's been transferred between multiple networks and sim cards. When I found the card for it as a PAYG option I grabbed it as it was an easy number to remember. My email address, however. I've had that for at least a quarter of a century.

For context, I used to take up that phone line with a 28kbps modem playing Warcraft 2 over kali in the late 90's, in the very early days of internet gaming, when few people even knew it was possible...She still has it.
