One of the most anticipated shows, for me at least, and there are no set leaks. No rumors. No news. And it's been months since they wrapped up shooting it. Makes me wonder if they're going to toss it in the dumpster.
One is a tv show in a IP that has two box office failures… the other is part of one of the biggest IP in the world. Just less interest so less coverage. BR99 is supposed to be released this year

Yes, niether were able to even double their budget. The first is considered a cult classic and managed to profit after home media. The second just a plain flop.

Blade runner 1 definitely was thanks to home media. 2049 maybe. Pulling a profit via home media is way easier when your budget 30 million instead of 185 million. 2049 needed to make $400m to breaks even… it isn’t exactly a popular IP outside of Listnook, so I wouldn’t be surprised if home media and merchandise figures didn’t do too well. However with streaming I’m sure it will be eventually if not already.
Either way this franchise is kinda done in the theater department, we will get some anime and this upcoming tv show… which i expect to also not do well compared to its budget.

I think Prime Video will release it in the fall if I had to guess. Which is probably when AppleTV will release the Neuromancer show as well so it will be cool to see two cyberpunk shows airing at the same time.

Is Neuromancer happening this year? I thought Apple did an event a few months ago where they showcased all their 2026 titles and Neuromancer wasn't one of them from what I could see

I highly doubt they are tossing it in the dumpster. Most likely they have a release window from Amazon and are following that. It's been speculated it's supposed to air this year so it will have to release something sooner than later if that's true. There's also Apple's Neuromancer TV show they might also want to try and avoid releasing around the same time.

Don’t quote me on this but I believe it is in development hell. However — and this is a big however — they recently sent someone down there to retrieve it, sorta like in that movie “What Dreams May Come” where the Robin Williams character goes to the afterlife to fetch his wife.
