HBO intro: Which show do you first think of?

Posted by Imzadi76

Seeing this intro. the first show that I always think of is "Band of Brothers". No wonder considering now many time I have seen it in the past 25 years or so. How about you. What is the first show or movie (?) you think of?

I watched the intro every time on that show years ago. To this day every time I hear the static bit from HBO, I expect the theme song to start.

Was OZ done on HBO with this intro? It sure reminds me of OZ which scared me as a kid lol
24

Oz was the first and you should be scared. Your butthole was in constant danger with Vern Schillinger around. He offered you a piece of gum, your first day there and you took it…It was literally your ass.

I’m from the UK and was staying in Atlanta GA for work in 2002 and this came on the telly for the first time for me….HBO intro will always be the sound before “Frolic” It’s a great choice of music, the frivolity of the tune but in a minor key makes it feel like trying to smile while the shit keeps pouring down Here’s a clip of the composer playing it all on piano https://youtu.be/dRm1_WK6vfU?si=p7qEaaDsLNoJsfoc

We've had many, many HBO shows with the intro intact here for years despite the lack of HBO.

Well I'd rather commit a crime than pay for Sky Atlantic. I guess I must never have seen an HBO show aired on a UK channel.

There was a time when The Wire aired on BBC 2. That's how I first saw it. I think Sopranos was on channel 4 originally? But yeah for a good while HBO=Sky

This is where you can find different ages. I was too young for sopranos when it aired caught entourage late. But HBo show that I started and finished on time was game of thrones

Rewatched not long ago and my mouth was wide open after a few episodes like... this shit came out in 2005? NO ONE was making TV like that. It was full on ancient Roman Empire, movie quality every episode. Still baffling they even attempted something that ludicrously huge and expensive and on a Network that was still just starting to spend big with Sopranos / Wire etc.

Why are you apologizing for entourage?
50
DanicaHamlin 4 days ago +13
I'm guessing its probably a fake guilt because Entourage skirted the line of being appropriate and wouldn't last today, sadly.
13
Chris_Helmsworth 4 days ago +11
Ari insensitivity and sexism/racism was supposed to be known as inappropriate it was a cynical depiction of the industry and not a glorification.

4
astralsmith 4 days ago +5
Don’t shame yourself. I’m a woman and a progressive and Entourage was funny AF. Yes, the later seasons got much shittier, but I maintain that at the beginning, the women were there DTF just as much as the guys. Ari in general was the most offensive (on every level) and he wasn’t exactly a good guy — I don’t think they were co-signing his bullshit. Would they make the show now? No, and that’s a good thing. Would I watch it if somehow they did? Probably not: my eyes are more open now and in the current climate, I tolerate a lot less. But it still was hilarious. Rhys Coiro as Billy will never not kill me. Kevin Dillon brought so much pathos to Drama. I think of the show like early Jon Moxley (pre-Dean Ambrose) where he was a drunk, brash, skanky, crazy guy with questionable attitudes and no off switch. I’m glad he grew up and got sober, but I still appreciate the raw nut job he was then.
5
