Imagine being as decorated as this guy and then getting fired by Kegseth.

XSinTrick6666 Apr 2, 2026 +627
It would be an honor. Imagine the reverse: you got this far only to end up sniffing drunken-scout-leader's butt. "Press Conference? Hurry up, get my makeup bag. NOW, General!"

numbersthen0987431 Apr 2, 2026 +225
This. I would gladly stand up to these asshats at this point, rather than retire early due to their stupidity. The problem though, is that their pensions and retirement plans are tied into not getting fired for doing what's right. Yay fascism

puffz0r Apr 2, 2026 +97
These generals are paid a metric fuckload of money and he will be able to write books, go on the speaking circuit, get interviewed on talk shows for decades, let alone become consultants for military contractors. There are no lack of options for income for a retired 4star general.
97
DoctorOunce Apr 2, 2026 +36
I mean it looks like he generals make around 220,000 a year. I am sure it is more complicated but it looks like at 20 years of service you maintain 50% of base pay for your pension. So 110,000 after retirement is not something most people would just scoff at at that pay rate. Book deals are not always lucrative or you may not be a talented author, distribution editing and publishing and promotion can take a good chunk of not all your profit. There are always consulting gigs of course but I am not going to fault someone for protecting their future and retiring before being in a situation where they are going to have to eschew their morals or lose their pension. EDIT: Seems he served over 30 so his pension is at 75%. Also he was asked to retire immediately so he will be able to maintain that pension. I remember this administration threatening the pension of senator Mark Kelley
36
puffz0r Apr 3, 2026 +5
Fair point, 110k pension is nothing to sniff at
5
ImpossibleBarracuda1 Apr 2, 2026 +12
Not paid that much for what they've sacrificed for this country. Probably 40 years of proud service to this country and being fired by an ass kissing dink who isn't qualified to hold the General's jock strap. Your entire identity as an adult gone. Money don't fix that nimrod.
12
Intelligent-Entry-81 Apr 2, 2026 +10
At this point in his career he can just say f*** it and receive his pension. Pretty much anyone over 20 can do that unless the commit a crime. That's like 9grand a month
10
DrunkCorgis Apr 2, 2026 +17
If he speaks out, sure. If he just takes the firing and stays silent, then he’s part of the problem.
17
PatReady Apr 2, 2026 +10
General Milley has entered the chat. He cleared the road so that orange idiot could hold a bible upside down.
10
echoshatter Apr 3, 2026 +7
Milley wasn't involved in that, he didn't know what was going on. It was (I think) Bureau of Prisons officers who cleared the way to the church. Milley was reported to be pissed about the photo op, he didn't want to be in it. No, Milley's biggest failure was on January 6. Not calling up the Marines from Quantico and the Army at Ft Meade and Ft Belvoir, and arresting every single person who stormed the Capitol and everyone who worked for Trump in the White House. It would have been a very, very different day and outcome had I been in his shoes. I'm not for military coups, but this is a case of "We'll hold thing down until Biden is sworn in in 2 weeks." And in that two weeks I'd be having a hell of a time getting an investigation underway into the election fraud case.

mishap1 Apr 2, 2026 +165
44 years in the Army and over 30 of them spent fighting wars in the Middle East. I sure hope he taught his soldiers well that they fight for their country and not a bloodthirsty Fox News host and his demented rapist boss.
165
Tijenater Apr 2, 2026 +49
You’d be surprised, sadly. “Just following orders” seems to be as potent as ever
49
SunveiliveFat Apr 3, 2026 +9
They havent stood up to them so far, and i dont think they ever will.
9
ttn333 Apr 2, 2026 +10
Are you serious? Look at what's happening right now.
10
Banmods Apr 2, 2026 +50
It's like Germany having an experienced officer corps, being underminded by a big headed ex-corporal who only wants yes men.

ennuiinmotion Apr 2, 2026 +27
So many parallels. History doesn’t repeat itself but it sure looks like it sometimes.

It’s Triple Sec-Def.

*Uhem* I believe you mean Triple Sec-*War*
9
Spaceman2901 Apr 2, 2026 +11
They don’t like preferred names or preferred pronouns. So the proper name is still Department of Defense, and his title is still Secretary of Defense.
11
Rbtmd78 Apr 2, 2026 +710
More than likely doesn’t agree with a ground invasion of Iran.
710
heroman3 Apr 2, 2026 +311
Yup basically told them that it would be a suicide mission probably and got fired for it.
311
Irwin-M_Fletcher Apr 2, 2026 +90
Probably just told him it wouldn’t be a cake walk.
90
HotDogFingers01 Apr 2, 2026 +35
F****** woke ass generals....
35
SirSnackums Apr 3, 2026 +8
I bet it was a rainbow cake
8
cbarrister Apr 2, 2026 +30
Iran has a population of 92 million. You can't do a limited ground invasion with a few thousand troops and expect it to go well.
30
Plaineswalker Apr 3, 2026 +1
But all the people in Iran will go in the streets and cheer for us!!! Right?
1
labelkills1331 Apr 2, 2026 +16
100%, we don't have the military power to invade Iran. We put, what, 20k soldiers there... they have 600k active soldiers in Iran?
16
rockytop24 Apr 3, 2026 +1
My first thought was it was about the promotion list for 1 star generals which has caused a dust up recently. Technically he's only supposed to approve or decline the whole list for presentation to congress, but he demanded 2 black women and 2 others be removed. There were some other shenanigans I think, one officer was finance track and the other was I wanna say engineer. Noncombat and women or black so not cool with him, regardless of how many career military officers are protesting it. I'm concerned you may be right though with us massing a cool 40k ground troops to the Middle East theater. President Dipshit probably thinks he can seize Kharg Island without destroying all the infrastructure with airborne and marines without armor to hold it. Either way we're firing a chief in an offensive war so... yeah. That screams "we have our shit together."
1
Efficient_Resist_287 Apr 2, 2026 +618
A Fox News host just fired a career military officer… America your voting choice was truly impeccable. PS: GOP Congress…well huh I dunno
618
Potential-Run-8391 Apr 2, 2026 +77
A dude fired from the national guard for being a f****** nut job on top of it.
77
crackdup Apr 2, 2026 +56
Just looked at the career highlights of the guy that was fired. 4-star general, military service of 40 years, West Point grad, rising steadily through the ranks, served overseas numerous times and shit ton of medals. How can it possibly be so damn easy for a political appointee to fire such a distinguished officer?
56
Own_Bet5189 Apr 2, 2026 +25
Look at the USPHS. Officers with decades of experience may be led by an unqualified political hack into non-scientific medicine who doesn't even hold a medical license and has never worn a uniform. The point of it is to humiliate and replace "old" authorities. It's a war on competence and institutions that oppose a total takeover. The narrative matters the most.
25
RandyTomfoolery Apr 2, 2026 +2179
My guess is he was not willing to follow unlawful orders.
2179
Main-Bandicoot6477 Apr 2, 2026 +1088
That or they're laying out real projections for plans in Iran and Pete can't handle the truth and wants to lie to the President. Or he just stood up to Pete on some issue or made him look dumb. Which probably wouldn't take much even inadvertently.
1088
cookiemikester Apr 2, 2026 +326
I’m guessing Pete didn’t like the Kharg Island assessment. Probably because they’re going to need so many patriot batteries and anti drone measures and even those won’t guarantee against heavy casualties.
326
gringledoom Apr 2, 2026 +142
"Mister Secretary, sir, there's a technical warfighting term for this, sir, it's called 'sitting ducks'."

VanceKelley Apr 3, 2026 +22
The French term for it is "Dien Bien Phu". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Dien_Bien_Phu
22
A_Nest_Of_Nope Apr 2, 2026 +36
Kharg island would be a massacre streamed on 4k all over the internet. When Iran was at war with Iraq, they sent waves of kids running towards the Iraqi soldiers as martyrs. Can you imagine US soldiers being ordered to shoot hundreds or Iranian kids running towards them on Kharg island?
36
Icy-Clerk-7715 Apr 2, 2026 +26
Without a second thought that’s the order Trump would give. He doesn’t give a shit about kids except to r*** them.
26
Cybertronian10 Apr 3, 2026 +13
Even worse, it will be non stop videos of US soldiers fleeing in terror before a drone blows them to smithereens. People are not paying attention to the shit going on in Ukraine, war is so much more viscerally brutal when every single death can be clipped and posted for engagement.
13
versusgorilla Apr 3, 2026 +1
The Ukrainian military posting terrified Russian soldiers realizing there's a drone baring down on them and there's nothing they can do to stop it is a harrowing type of psychological warfare they're waging against Russia. Obviously, Russia is trying to control these videos, but you don't need to see many before you realize you might be safer trying to avoid service than being sent to the front in Ukraine where some drone operator with dozens of confirmed kills hunts you in defense of his homeland.
1
SpinningHead Apr 2, 2026 +21
I could make his strategy look dumb and Ive never even served.
21
ExcellentJuice4729 Apr 2, 2026 +21
Pete wants a war to bring on Jesus rebirth. So any craziness is good for him
21
Microtom_ Apr 2, 2026 +61
They gave Israel carte blanche and Israel is commanding this operation entirely. Of course the high ranking officials are entirely against those plans, especially in what happens next, which is likely the capture of the stocks of uranium.
61
Omateido Apr 2, 2026 +23
Or a nuke.

Don't forget the indoctrination in crackpot Christian Nationalist theology which happened recently. It was contrary to the regulations, traditions and morale of the US armed forces and something an officer who takes his oath of loyalty to the Constitution seriously *should* object to.
31
PageVanDamme Apr 2, 2026 +30
Because of my job, I’ve known guys that were in 5th SFG. (Green Berets Specializing in MENA, they have to study region’s history, culture, language and most importantly Geopolitics and Strategical outcomes.) Not one, I mean NOT ONE has good outlook on boots on ground scenario. One of them was a h******* Trump supporter and And that’s what led him to drop the support along with Esptein thing.
30
CcryMeARiver Apr 2, 2026 +6
This [ex-ME Marine intel officer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALxr05y5YaE) doesn't mince his words. I think he's on the money tactically but a little out of his paygrade strategically. But what would I know? Still worth a watch.
6
kerkula Apr 2, 2026 +12
Just a guess here, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the US military is actually running out of munitions
12
ennuiinmotion Apr 2, 2026 +6
Last I heard we were running out of certain long range munitions but had plenty of closer range ones, and since we took out a lot of their air defense we don’t need the long range ones as much. Still terrible planning on their part.
6
qriousqestioner Apr 2, 2026 +5
>Still terrible planning on their part. No one could have predicted
5
heroman3 Apr 2, 2026 +155
Probably told them that a ground invasion is a horrific idea and got fired.
155
Ven18 Apr 2, 2026 +71
Or told them under no circumstances would he allow the use of nukes against Iran.
71
FantasticJacket7 Apr 2, 2026 +28
A nuclear strike would go through the Air Force, not the Army.
28
BasicPhysiology Apr 2, 2026 +14
You don’t think there would be some discussions before hand with the joint chiefs?  Or would it just be a phone call from the oval directly to a nuclear submarine?
14
mishap1 Apr 2, 2026 +18
They bought Trump a couple of those buttons you can record a message for your dog. One just yells "Diet Coke!", the other is "Nuke Iran!".
18
BasicPhysiology Apr 2, 2026 +6
This is believable.
6
Bukowskified Apr 2, 2026 +3
Navy nuclear sub just shrugs.
3
Epistatious Apr 2, 2026 +9
You make it sound like he doesn't want to get kids killed in a unwinnable ground war for hubris? Hubris is almost worth as much as unobtainium.
9
USA46Q Apr 2, 2026 +247
Pete Hegseth is destroying all the evidence that he's a f****** idiot, and he's firing all the witnesses that can prove he lied about invading Iran.
247
StreetRude7351 Apr 2, 2026 +90
Doesn’t matter, they can still testify here in the United States against him and at The Hague courts
90
USA46Q Apr 2, 2026 +39
I didn't say Pete Hegseth was smart, or that it was good plan.
39
netsheriff Apr 2, 2026 +12
No, anyone who enquires to companies like Blackrock to buy shares just b4 declaring war on a country can't be too smart. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2026/04/02/democrats-launch-another-probe-into-pete-hegseths-alleged-effort-to-buy-up-defense-stocks-before-iran-war/

12

>It’s telling how many Americans don’t know This should be open ended because you can use it so many situations
10
BiscottiEastern220 Apr 2, 2026 +8
But if my post fantasizing about drumpf being dragged in front of The Hague gets enough listnook karma, it'll become true 🙏🏻
8
Prayer_Warrior21 Apr 2, 2026 +9
Reminds me of the meme "Jesus checking if the Facebook photo has enough likes to save the sick child" lmao
9
SunMyungMoonMoon Apr 2, 2026 +3
Oh, sorry he missed that half-court shot little sick kids, guess that's another $100k in the bank for us!
3
algaefied_creek Apr 2, 2026 +5
The USA does not recognize The Hague’s authority and per the American Service-Members' Protection Act (ASPA) of 2002 and was never even a member of the Rome Statute (aka ICC treaty, etc). Section 2008 is nicknamed “The "Hague Invasion Act" because it grants the US president the statutory authority to use "all means necessary” to bring back any US personnel brought there. Soooo probably no Hague.
5
hackingdreams Apr 3, 2026 +5
Firing witnesses doesn't make them go away. I don't know why people keep saying this, but it's not as if a witness suddenly forgets everything they witnessed if they left their job. All it proves is improper dismissal - it *adds to the case* of their being a conspiracy at work. Please, can we stop being stupid people? Hegseth asked him to do something illegal, the chief of staff reminded him that it's illegal, Hegseth got mad that he doesn't have absolute authority and now wants him gone. And because nobody has a f****** backbone anywhere near this administration, they're probably going to leave without a fight.
5
Krisparz Apr 2, 2026 +37
My guess is that's the reason Hegseth has been twisting scripture to formulate a "religious" imperative that overrides stuff like war crimes.
37
Fionaelaine4 Apr 2, 2026 +19
Possibly related to the Kid Rock incident?
19
2HDFloppyDisk Apr 2, 2026 +15
Captain Hegseth loves telling Generals what to do
15
SadFeed63 Apr 2, 2026 +7
Trump wants to drop a nuke, is my guess
7
Pernapple Apr 2, 2026 +15
They want to invade that island and every one with a brain know that is a doomed mission. We will lose hundreds or thousands of soldier. Iran can just let us take the island and just thrown drones at it until we leave. Hegseth way over his head and wants your sons and daughter to die for his vanity project. weak men and hard times and all
15
HotMachine9 Apr 2, 2026 +15
Israel wants to use your America armed forces as cannon fodder in their war.
15
Visual_Leadership_35 Apr 2, 2026 +13
Why won't Israel send soldiers in, they can't all be needed for shooting Palestinian children surely?
13
emmacappa Apr 2, 2026 +7
Israel is going to pinch some land in South Lebanon whilst everyone is looking the other way.
7

Nukes. Nukes everywhere.
9
Scarlettail Apr 2, 2026 +6
Or merely for the Kid Rock think, really.
6
D0nk3yD0ngD0ug Apr 2, 2026 +3
More likely due to the private Kid Rock airshow over the weekend. Gen George likely stood behind his staff on punishing the air crew and Kegsbreath stepped in over the top of him.

Military coup before the midterms? Land invasion of Iran? The possibilities are endless with these guys.

Land invasion and suspension of elections.
109
wiggmaster666 Apr 2, 2026 +39
Yup. Anyone thinking there will be (fair) midterms, is a gullible fool.
39
Desperate-Till-9228 Apr 2, 2026 +44
They're going to try to cheat and they're going to be woefully outnumbered in that effort. Gas prices are going to win.

dread it, run from it, high gas prices arrive all the same.
29
Desperate-Till-9228 Apr 2, 2026 +16
It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear.
16
RobonianBattlebot Apr 2, 2026 +14
This is realistically what will happen. Massive voter suppression tactics that fail to win the Midterms for the GOP because of how pissed people are at this Admin. Sort of like 2020. He tried desperately to cheat and to stage a coup and failed at both.
14
Desperate-Till-9228 Apr 2, 2026 +7
Worse than 2020. All this shit is his own doing.
7
monkeypickle8 Apr 2, 2026 +6
I'm honestly surprised the military has gone along with this bullshit for so long, why respect a draft dodger and an alcoholic that never cracked Major and most recent job was shitty opinion news TV host.
6
labelkills1331 Apr 2, 2026 +21
A military coup in a country with millions of people with guns is certainly a choice you can make.
21
brobastian0227 Apr 2, 2026 +25
It's not going to matter. Those who have been hoarding guns for years love this shit. Yes there are liberal gun owners, but it won't matter. They will just cross reference who owns guns and don't vote Republican. Or just drone your spot.
25
XSinTrick6666 Apr 2, 2026 +14
Throws General under the bus - Trump FAIL means heads fixing to roll. "LOOK PA, I found a deep state former advisor to Lloyd Austin. THE ENEMY! Don't worry I immediatelyI fired him -- HE was the one making us do bad, pa. Honest..."
14
boom929 Apr 2, 2026 +23
Gonna be wild if we see a terrorist attack timed perfectly in time to try to stop midterms isn't it? Never saw myself as a conspiracy theorist but at this point I'm all out of disbelief or shock at anything that could happen.
23
Emory_C Apr 2, 2026 +9
There is no mechanism to "stop" elections. They may try. They will fail.
9
Potential-Run-8391 Apr 2, 2026 +3
I didn’t believe they won all the swing states to start. Once the massive pedo ring papers showed cannibalism and torture from the rich all over the world, I decided f*** it, anything’s possible.
3
johnnycyberpunk Apr 2, 2026 +8
DHS Secretary - GONE. Attorney General - GONE. DNI - GONE (?). Army Chief of Staff - GONE. Something really bad is about to happen. Not just the doomed ground invasion of Iran. They want to use a nuke, or invoke Martial Law, or a full military takeover of the government.
8
campfire_eventide Apr 2, 2026 +267
Okay what is happening? Noem, Bondi, maybe Patel (?) and now the Army chief of staff. This is beginning to feel coordinated.
267
COMM_NTARIAT Apr 2, 2026 +166
Just creating a little election year chaos for the talking heads to play with. Meanwhile Trump and the Courts love "acting" Cabinet Secretaries and high ranking appointments as a way to dodge accountability.
166
Boring_Investment597 Apr 2, 2026 +80
This happened during his first term too. In the 2nd year the turn over started getting wild.

How many f****** press secretaries did he go through his first term? Like, 15?

How many scaramucci’s is Karoline Leavitt at?
13
campfire_eventide Apr 2, 2026 +8
Okay that’s reassuring in the shittiest of ways, but still. Knowing it’s not entirely unprecedented for Trump helps ease my worry just slightly. Thank you
8
True-Desktective Apr 2, 2026 +3
This firing most likely was a deflection for Pete.  Trump is a very angry and superficial person - if *you* aren’t getting fired for poor results, who are you actually firing instead? Pam didn’t have a scapegoat, Pete did.  Is it problematic for the country? Hell yeah. But this was not some elaborate plan from dummies. It was “I gotta fire someone, or else it’s me”
3
Safe_Climate883 Apr 2, 2026 +13
Might just be a symptom of things not going particularily well.
13
FanofK Apr 2, 2026 +18
My guess is things aren’t going as expected so they’re trying new things
18

How has Patel lasted this long?
7

he’s seen the Epstein files, if I were trump I would hang onto him as long as I could.
7
Obfuscious Apr 2, 2026 +5
People that know what they’re doing know that this administration is sending our military to their deaths for no reason and know that it will result in the deaths of Americans on USA soil (not to mention those in all of the other nations affected by this).  All for nothing. (This is not mitigating the injustice and oppression that the people of Iran have faced).  This administration doesn’t care.
5
mrbrambles Apr 2, 2026 +6
Your pattern seeking brain is begging for there to be some higher reasoning. Trump second year is the pattern
6

Scapegoats for trump's own failures.
4
Fantastic-Watch8177 Apr 2, 2026 +74
Um, okay. Why?
74
captain_intenso Apr 2, 2026 +117
My guess is it has to do with strongly advising against the ground invasion that will happen over the weekend.
117
heroman3 Apr 2, 2026 +46
100% Hegseth wants that ground invasion so bad and doesn't care how many would die because of it.
46
ProfessionalBench832 Apr 2, 2026 +29
This is literally what it is about: Hegseth wants to kill a lot of people (legit don't think he cares who). He told this story on Fox News about how dumb the rules of engagement are. He claims (I believe, not positive on this part) he left the army as a Major because he was prevented from firing on civilians (the part I am unsure is if he said he left for that reason.) We know this did happen, he was reprimanded and likely asked to leave the military after this. Some of his company were hurt or killed (again, his telling) and he blames that on not being able to fire on unverified targets. He used to bring it up on Fox with some regularity. Now, the Major is the head of the armed forces and, seemingly, enjoying killing all the civilians he wants and no career military serviceman is going to get in his way.
29
warm_kitchenette Apr 2, 2026 +7
As a chess player, Hegseth can only see about half a move ahead. Even being ejected from the Army didn't teach him anything.
7
Zulmoka531 Apr 2, 2026 +9
Which would go along with the theory Hegseth might be on the chopping block next.
9
XSinTrick6666 Apr 2, 2026 +4
Yeah they don't call it hot war for nothing. He'll be keeping close check from the trenches of the Ritz-Carlton Dubai - flexed-biceps-emoji ... SignalChat party in the makeup suite ... flexed-biceps-emoji
4
nasorrty346tfrgser Apr 2, 2026 +16
My educated guess is he spoke the truth about we are losing on Iran
16
SpanningTreeProtocol Apr 2, 2026 +5
Most likely one of two things: he advised that taking Kharg Island is a bad move, or because he said something about not undermining your commanders, re: the Apache pilots and Kid Rock.

I bet this guy was pissed that Hegseth overrode the punishment of the 2 pilots who visited Kid Rock's house. The Army takes rules and punishments very seriously. Seems like Pete probably gave the order for the pilots to deviate from their official flight path and Pete doesn't want to take any heat for breaking protocol and being a partisan dumbass interfering with Army business.

PlebsnProles Apr 2, 2026 +39
That’s my guess as well. As soon as I heard the army was investigating, then disciplining the pilots for that whole fiasco, I knew someone’s head was going to roll for doing things by the book.

Ape_x_Ape Apr 2, 2026 +11
Not to mention Army business can't be extended to "protecting polling places" with the old guard still firmly in place.

We've done this once already before Venezuela happened. MAGA doesn't like to be told *no*. They're not interested in facts or good logic, either. Assume the worst and you're probably close to the why of this story. "MIAMI, Dec 12 (Reuters) - The admiral in charge of U.S. military forces in Latin America retired two years early on Friday, amid rising tensions with Venezuela that include Wednesday's [seizure of an oil tanker](https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/trump-administration-seizes-oil-tanker-off-venezuela-coast-us-officials-say-2025-12-10/) and [more than 20 deadly strikes](https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pentagon-says-it-struck-another-suspected-drug-boat-pacific-killing-three-2025-11-16/) on suspected drug-smuggling boats. Three U.S. officials and two people familiar with the matter told Reuters that Admiral Alvin Holsey was pushed out by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Two officials said Hegseth had grown frustrated with Southern Command as he sought to flex U.S. military operations and planning in the region." Unsurprising, since their savior doesn't like being told "No" either. Especially from women and children.

Gotta wonder how it feels for a decorated general to get fired by a drunken Fox news anchor
28
ShakeyLegsMcGee Apr 2, 2026 +8
Probably like shit. These people are feckless wreckers. We’ll never know the Doge destruction.

Environmental-Arm365 Apr 2, 2026 +26
It’s sickening to watch good and honorable men who have dedicated their lives to defending this country have their legacies destroyed by a POS bottom feeder like Hegseth. I can’t imagine setting this shameful example why anyone would join the military.
26
BrandenWi Apr 2, 2026 +20
Probably because the Army Chief said that a ground invasion of Iran was a suicide mission that he wanted no part of, and Whiskey Pete didn't like that.
20
wembley Apr 2, 2026 +39
Refusing unlawful orders like bombing desalination plants maybe?
39
SpanningTreeProtocol Apr 2, 2026 +3
Army wouldn't be in charge of that. That's an Air Force responsibility
3
kalamari_withaK Apr 2, 2026 +6
Yeah this is being told ‘you’re a moron if you want to order a ground incursion’ all over.

Always a sign that a war is going well when you demand a top general’s resignation.

Reinstates people who fly Kid Rock home. Fires four star generals. Pistol Pete, folks.

I hope he told Kegsbreath to pound sand.

Bearski79 Apr 2, 2026 +24
After Bondi, Hegseth has to know his time is limited. Iran not being finished as quickly as Venezuela, which I am sure is what Trump expected, is going to see his head on a platter soon enough. He's either trying to direct attention to his own set of scapegoats, or he's acting on personal grievances before time runs out.
24
Ticksdonthavelymph Apr 2, 2026 +17
No. Trump is only getting rid of the girls Gabbard is next. Hegseth will stay to take the blame for the dead soldiers.

As absolutely bonkers as this sounds, my money in on the Kid Rock thing. Here's why, Service Chiefs of Staff do not lead Combat formations or make command decisions in the context of military operations. They lead their respective institutions. As such General George doesn't have a whole lot of say on what's happening in Iran. Where does he have a say? In the SecDef stepping in and undermining good order and discipline by reinstating the Army pilots. My guess is that he had some very strong opinions about that. We truly live in the stupidest of timelines.

Ontheragnarock Apr 2, 2026 +5
This will of course be interpreted as everything is going great.

Hagseth left a bag of sex toys he used with steven miller in a helicopter and he was mad they did not go back to get them

He was a soyboy cuck and wasn’t warfightery and maxlethally enuff.
4
AdComprehensive7952 Apr 2, 2026 +3
Probably the guy who wanted to investigate the Army pilots who flew to Skid Rock's pool. Considering the first story we heard was about the investigation, then "Nope, investigation closed. They're getting a medal instead", then this firing. All within 3 days. The connect-the-dots schemes with this regime are 3rd grade level, at best.
3
ikesbutt Apr 2, 2026 +3

I believe the time is coming for a military coup in the USA, led by a few generals with brains and balls who will guide the country to a restoration of normality.
4
MatthewUnplugged Apr 3, 2026 +4
Yeah, I'm less convinced now that a political appointee should have this much power over the military. Defer to the career guys... not morning news show guys.
4
ARLibertarian Apr 3, 2026 +1
I detest Kegsbreath as much as the next guy... But...congress voted to confirm. Congress can impeach and remove. Coup not required.
1
festafiesta Apr 2, 2026 +3
He wouldn't lead the ground invasion of Iran, so Hegseth fired him to get a goon that will
3
Daytonabitchridda Apr 2, 2026 +3
It’s because he wouldn’t sacrifice two battalions of paratroopers.
3
janzeera Apr 2, 2026 +3
Q: does one have to be a General to be Army COS? I figure Hegseth will go as low as it takes to find someone that agrees with his POV.
3

Indict and jail Pete Kegsbreath NOW!
3
MourningRIF Apr 2, 2026 +3
You have to know that you will be thrown under the bus as soon as the doomed mission fails... I wouldn't step down though. You would have to fire me.

I can't imagine that it's wise to change leadership just after starting a war.
3

Can we get Lt. Gen. George Hammond of SG1? I'd vote for that guy.
3
Crouton_Sharp_Major Apr 2, 2026 +3
He should just ask Pete to step down
3
svBunahobin Apr 2, 2026 +3
He's really upset about that Kid Rock flyby
3
throwawaybsme Apr 2, 2026 +3
Asking the Chief of Staff of the Army in the middle of a war (of choice) definitely reeks of desperation. Hegseth knows he is the next to get fired (after Gabbard). Gotta make yourself look big and bad to keep deer leader appeased.
3
MasterOfBunnies Apr 2, 2026 +3
Let's hope he tells Hegseth to kick rocks.
3
wolf_at_the_door1 Apr 2, 2026 +3
I’m sure he might object to sending men into their deaths. Just a guess. Pete fired him because he’s refusing to give the order? Idk. Land invasion will mean a lot of caskets coming home. We haven’t seen the worst of drone warfare. I don’t want to see it.
3
mrhooha Apr 2, 2026 +3
We should ask Hegseth to step down since it’s likely any failures are his fault.
3
Calvin_Ball_86 Apr 2, 2026 +3
SHOIGU!!!! God Trump's regime is just a mirror image of Putins.
3
WysiwygBB Apr 2, 2026 +3
And now we know which general said that invading Iran was stupid.

This is really Bad. They are Purging sane heads - or at the very least realistic ones. Who is going to f****** stop this nightmare ?
1
Perniciosius Apr 3, 2026 +1
He probably informed the always-so-responsible alcoholic Hegseth that a ground invasion with fewer than 200,000 troops and zero allies is, somehow, the most spectacularly ill-conceived strategy he has ever had to listen to.
