Also part of Project 2025. It wants less high ranking officials on the military. Likely to concentrate power and easier fill it with loyalists.

Yes, its a multifaceted coup, nobody will call it what it is. Project 2025 is the groundwork for a coup.

I hope they are able to personally sue him for going out of his way, beyond the duties of the job.

Can't wait to watch this phony He-man women hater go under the wheels of the Trump bus. Just a matter of time. Only question is, who will go first, this fool or that idiot Kash?...

If they put troops in Iran a lot will die. The public will not digest that easily and Trump will dump Hegseth.

no person of color should enlist dead end job

They're trying to give this lasting impact by stoking this bery sentiment. If you truly believe there is an out to this then the recruitment cant stop. 4 years of no minority recruitment means 10-20 years of no representation amongst senior enlisted and flag

I see your point, but it's difficult to see the solution here. If I were a person of color interested in the military I'd think twice about enlisting because of this particular situation. Maybe better not to ask people of color to keep enlisting, and ask people in charge--or who vote--to do something about this.

Turkstache Apr 3, 2026 +1
So the issue is the people in charge want to remove minorities and women from influence, which makes appealing to them a total no starter. The people who vote are *still not motivated enough for some reason*, unless you're talking to the white and Latino male population who disproportionately voted for this... but they are similarly far gone as the leadership. What is an extremely tall order here is maintaining the representation here. It requires time and it requires people surviving filters. Assuming minorities and women stop showing up entirely for the next 3 years... full reversal of this situation means no representation from E-3 to E-5. Minimal representation from O-1 to O-2. Which leaves gaps 4 years later from E-4 through E-6 and O-2 to O-3. Mind you while all this is happening, the people most comfortable with this administration are still disproportionately preventing minority and women advancement even under a new government. Correction against this injustice is multifaceted. Refusing to participate is what has historically given them power and allows them to continue their regression no matter who runs the program.

Which is fucked, because when I enlisted 20+ years ago it was a source of pride that the military was one of the first major organizations to be desegregated. I was proud to be part of that legacy. Anyway, I don't think minorities starting their careers now should be deterred, because Hegseth will be long gone before they make Colonel, and it's not like the private sector doesn't also have issues. I think getting hurt or killed, or hurting and killing others in fruitless wars is a better reason to think twice.

If you’re a person of color living in a country with racist leadership, what would make you more comfortable: 1) having an all white military, or 2) having people of color within that military? Racist leadership backed by an all-white, possibly racist military is a bad look…amirite? Ask 1933 circa Germany how well that turned out.

Reeks pretty heavily of “mediocre staff officer who got passed over and thinks it was because of affirmative action and not because he sucks so much he only made Major in the IRR.”

Naturally. Why risk having the military turn on you because their leadership opposes you?

>Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has taken steps to block or delay promotions for more than a dozen Black and female senior officers across all four branches of the military, some of whom are seen as having been targeted because of their race, gender or perceived affiliation with Biden administration policies or officials, according to nine U.S. officials familiar with the process. >The process within the Army, the Air Force, the Navy and the Marines is structured to ensure the most qualified officers get promoted. Hegseth’s decision to intervene in the process has raised concerns among some officials within those military branches and the White House, the nine U.S. officials familiar with the situation said. >On Thursday Hegseth fired the Army chief of staff, Gen. Randy George, whose term was expected to be four years ending in September 2027. George, the Army’s top officer, was senior military assistant to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during the Biden administration. >George recently asked to meet with Hegseth to discuss Hegseth's blocking of promotions for some Army officers, which seemed to focus on women and Black men, but Hegseth refused to meet or discuss his decisions, according to two additional U.S. officials.

Nd of course his own shining career and current position were earned by grinding and toiling and learning like the rest of us, not that DEI vs. meritocracy “hoax” he likes to pull from his butt ad nauseaum.
