Purging command of anyone popular or competent enough to influence the military against you is dictator 101. Remember that this administration pulled this shit on day one, a whole year ago, and the army fell in line immediately. Blow up some fishing boats because "drugs" and deliberately follow up with immediate execution of survivors, in total violation of both US and international law? Check. Kidnap the leader of a nation, murdering bystanders and blowing up a bunch of stuff along the way also in full violation of US and international law? Check. Full-on invasion of another nation without provocation or even a goal? Check.
You don't have to be a genius or even sane to do an authoritarian coup, you just have to check the same exact boxes all the other ones did. Republicans have been doing so with DT as a battering ram since 2016. If the military was gonna refuse compliance they'd have done it last time Donald ordered something illegal, or the time before that, or the time before that.

Something tells me this has to do with the investigation into those AH-64s overflying No Kings Day protesters at very low level and showing up at Kid Rock’s mansion.
The US Army initiated an investigation when this came to light, temporarily suspending the involved crews from flight status, which is the regular procedure.
Hegseth personally stepped in to overrule it.

My thoughts exactly. Especially the timing of it: after market close (Stock market closed tomorrow for Good Friday). And within a couple hours of Bondi being fired the same day?
I have no basis, other than the last few weeks of lived experience, but I think it's within the realm of possibility that someone floated a ultra dangerous idea about increasing the velocity of the war with Iran. And Gen. George flat out said no, not doing it.

When you need experience and are in a war it might be better to keep the people who know what is going on and how to work to a resolution! New people might not have all the experience or knowledge!

You can't have a sane general stopping the insanity.

Our seasoned warrior monks are getting cast aside by this imbecile just so he can plant a sycophant in their former position.
It's funny. Just when I think our times couldn't get any darker...

Had to have been the Kid Rock stunt going unpunished that pushed him over the edge. Obviously the war crimes didn't.

Republicans could end the insanity any time. They choose not to.
All Republicans are fascist domestic terrorists.

So is this because that kid rock flyby happened under his watch? Or is it because he investigated and suspended the pilots for doing it (which hegseth quickly reversed)

60% of vetetans voted for this. Maybe the military has a stupidity problem, but who am I to get in the way of someone's dreams?

Gen. Christopher LaNeve, is the Vice Chairman. What's the scoop on him? Seems to have experience. Commanded 82 Airborne.

I really hope he opposed any orders to boots on the ground in Iran. The US does not have the resources for an Iran war unless we started taxing billionaires at WW2 rates.

At this point we need competence. Our military is starting to destroy vital civilian architecture in a foreign country for literally no reason.
We need people in this government and in the military who are willing to stand up to a Fox News host given a vitally important job for no other reason than he is a proper yes-man.
The more people who quit, get fired or retire who are actually good people, the worse off this country is in the very near future.

Soon then the administration is going to do what he refused to do.
Sacrifice American Service Members all to appease Trump.
Hegseth is prob maxxed out on lethality and this is war soldiers know what they signed up for.

Why the heck did /r/worldnews moderators remove this from that sub-listnook (https://old.listnook.com/r/worldnews/comments/1sat7ml/secdef_hegseth_has_asked_army_chief_of_staff/)? There is something deeply wrong about the moderators of that sublistnook. I've seen this time and time again there and they don't even bother explaining why.
