This is the grossest part:
"The frustrations with Mr. Hegseth’s approach came to a boil last summer during a heated exchange between Ricky Buria, Mr. Hegseth’s chief of staff, and Mr. Driscoll about a separate promotion.
Mr. Buria chastised the Army secretary for selecting Maj. Gen. Antoinette R. Gant, a combat engineer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, to take command of the Military District of Washington, said three current and former defense and administration officials familiar with the exchange. The command provides security and performs ceremonial duties in the nation’s capital, and its commander often appears alongside the president at Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Buria told Mr. Driscoll that President Trump would not want to stand next to a Black female officer at military events, the officials said."

Any white male who gets a promotion must have earned it. Anyone female or person of color who earns a promotion must be a DEI candidate.
To wit: Kentaji had a decade of experience as a circuit court judge, worked in private practice and as a federal prosecutor. Yet conservatives derided her as unqualified because Biden had said he wanted to elevate a black woman.
Meanwhile, the thrust of Amy Comey Barrett's experience was 16 years of teaching law school; she was placed on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals solely as a stepping stone to SCOTUS. Just 2 1/2 years later, she was elevated after the death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Nary a peep from conservatives, who rightly pegged her for a vote to overcome Roe v. Wade.
So which one of these women got their position based on their gender, and which one was imminently qualified for the top bench?

I always find these comments so confusing, on every post about Trump or his cabinet is someone pointing out how these people are massive hypocrites -- despite the fact that they themselves, and their dipshit cheerleaders in the electorate have over, and over, and over, and over again proven that being a hypocrite is a totally meaningless convinction to them -- they couldn't care less about integrity or honesty, no matter how much anyone points it out. I really do not understand the motivation behind such comments, is it just venting??
72
BlueBookofFairyTalesMar 27, 2026

Calling them hypocrites isn't to try and get them to change. It's pointing it out to others - just like the religious right has been using propaganda for decades (abortion is murder, being gay is a sin) to get a large number of people to get their view of the world to be taken as fact - we need to do the same.
They are hypocrites and pointing out every single time they are being hypocritical, that's how they will be seen.

Kind of a funny way that bigotry seems to perpetuate itself. If you have enough of it in an environment, all that’s needed is the rumor or the presumption that “the boss is racist” or “we got a lot of people who are racist so…..”, and the hive mind will simply work with it, or work around it. It’s always easier to avoid conflict, especially if your whole career relies on relationships.
Real or not, the outcome is the same: *perceived* eggshells alone are enough. People who aren’t even necessarily bigoted themselves will, consciously or unconsciously, end up reinforcing it as if they were. And when there are actually bigoted higher ups, they can just say “I never said to do that!”

[Newsweek: Donald Trump Won More Black Voters Than Any Republican in 48 Years](https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-black-voters-gains-results-1982939)
>Nationally, he roughly doubled his support among Black men under 45 compared to 2020, with about 3 in 10 in this age group voting for him. In total, 21 percent of Black men voted for Trump, which was 2 percent more than in 2020.
>The shift contributed to Trump's improved margins in battleground states like North Carolina and Georgia, where his share of the Black vote rose by 5 percentage points over 2020 levels.
>When it came to Hispanic voters, Trump showed the best results for a Republican candidate in over 52 years.

Well said. Also a former O-3 here - same profile you described except ROTC instead of service academy. Couple tours in Iraq, plenty of corporate/civilian experience and advanced formal education, yada yada.
And I would never in a million years consider myself qualified for a senior cabinet position like SECDEF. Hell, I've dealt with enough imposter syndrome just in mid-level corporate management roles.
People who have the character profile as the current SECDEF must just be so used to lying and bullshitting their way through life, without any meaningful introspection, that the rest of us "normies" can hardly imagine acting that way.
It's a real shame that so many of those who seek out "leadership" positions have absolutely no business being there, while many actual leaders - servant leaders who take the blame, deflect credit, and lead with empathy - aren't interested.

MAGA is just the Dixiecrats and they are the same bigots, racist, and segregationist they’ve always been. This is the entire point of Trump, Republicans and MAGA, re-segregation. They are not going to do it 'by law' though, but by removing avenues to address racism and discrimination and then just not hiring black people or harassing them (see the whole Hegseth beard thing) until they leave.
There are so many examples of this overt racism from every aspect of this administration. From Linda McMahon’s education department ending probes Into racism against non-whites at schools, to the DOJ openly saying they are looking for white people who want to sue black people who got promoted before them. To everything about ICE, to executive orders chiding the Smithsonian that saying there are not biological differences between the races is ‘un-American’. To the DOD announcing they are going to stop it’s contractors form using segregated work facilities. The racism is the thing that binds MAGA together.
From a different article but to the point.
>What its advocates want is not a restoration of explicit Jim Crow segregation—that would shatter the illusion that their own achievements are based in a color-blind meritocracy. They want an arrangement that perpetuates racial inequality indefinitely while retaining some plausible deniability, a rigged system that maintains a mirage of equal opportunity while maintaining an unofficial racial hierarchy. Like elections in authoritarian countries where the autocrat is always reelected in a landslide, they want a system in which they never risk losing but can still pretend they won fairly.....When Trump officials speak of a society that is color-blind and merit-based, they do not appear to mean meritocracy or color-blindness in the traditional sense. Instead of individual meritocracy, they seem to be advocating a racial meritocracy, in which the merit of an individual hire or admission can be assessed not by their individual accomplishments but by how well the group they are associated with fits a particular role.

It's also striking how much scrutiny the media gave to Jeremiah Wright for saying America hasn't treated back people well as opposed to how little media seems to care that Hegseth's pastor Doug Willson is an open white supremacist and has so many followers in the government.
Doug Wilson is against homosexuality being legal, women voting, and he's a Neo-confederate who's against racial equality. He’s written fondly about the confederacy and slavery. He thinks homosexuality should be outlawed. He’s called for his followers to have ‘more white babies’, believes women are pretty much breeding property and shouldn't be allowed to vote and just a few years ago wrote a very long winded blog post trying to explain where on a political spectrum that he made up, his stance on racism is. And well sure enough he said that while he wasn’t a full on ‘forced removal from the country’ type segregationist, he still ‘found no kinship’ with anyone who thought the races are equal.
He’s called for white christians to form a separate economy to shut minorities out of civic life (one where you only do business with white Christian heterosexuals) and his cult has actually done that to some extent in their home town Moscow Idaho by taking over business downtown (it’s always f****** Idaho with these racist!).
And again, for a national media that collectively lost its mind at Obama's pastor for criticizing the U.S. over slavery, it's amazing how much white supremacy and calls for religious violence they will overlook as long as it's from bigoted white people.

And the next generation will know even less as Republicans rewrite history to suit their agenda.
Project 2025 has a lot of ugly consequences as part of the Biblical Family push. Removing no fault divorce, making it more difficult for women to work - this used to mean many women and children were trapped in abusive homes. When I see the glorification of Trad Wives , it's chilling as the reality behind it is brutal.
The EEOC recruiting men to sue for employment descrimination means corporations will be reluctant to hire or promote women above men. The Comstock Act, destruction of Planned Parenthood, HeadStart , subsidies for child care are all part of bringing back the Patriarchy.
The creators of Project 2025, the Christian Nationalists, Heritage Foundation are on record pushing for men to replace women in high paying career jobs.
People need to pay attention.

Generally, they all just *cheat*. Because they're dishonest, amoral, unethical, unintelligent cretins. And I don't mean they just *cheat* in their marriages like Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski, but they have always cheated at life and business... just like dear leader.
They can't even be bothered to have open marriages because they get a thrill out of cheating and hurting others.
This is truly the most criminal and cruel administration ever in American politics.

The overwhelming sentiment among the majority of white voters across all three elections: 'This is amazing!. We love this because we admire Trump, because he embodies the qualities we aspire to possess. Trump takes delight in the harsh treatment directed at LGBTQ individuals, people of color, and anyone else who isn't with us. A sentiment that resonates with us as well. While you may continue your protests and vocalize your dissent, the reality is that when it truly mattered, we turned out on November 5th, while you did not. Brace yourselves for the continuation of this cruelty and the ongoing deportations. Because there are three plus more years of this, and we are just getting started.'
Among those who voted, the majority of white men and white women voted for a racist, fascist, sexist, war-mongering kid rapist and kid killer in 2016, 2020, and 2024. *It was never about the price of eggs or gas.*

This administration is actively making the high ranks of our professional services worse just because of their effort to telegraph their anti-DEI stance, regardless of the impact on the services. I think the people struck from promotion should retire from the military, then run for congress. What better way to fight this than to be able to impeach these assholes.

Few people will admit to being racist because of the stigma. It’s like saying you’re a bad person
But people will more openly admit to believing their in group is inherently superior to others. They’ll call it pride.
People will also admit that they believe some groups are inherently inferior or flawed, with occasional exceptions made. “I’m not racist. I have a friend who is X”
There is nothing wrong with recognizing that there are differences between groups based on cultural factors. There is nothing wrong with saying that there are good and bad things about any culture
Racism happens when you believe or act as if:
Cultural traits are biological and largely unchangeable
Your own group is primarily good without recognizing flaws
Other groups are fundamentally bad without recognizing strengths

This pisses me off for two reasons. The first reason is the obvious. The second reason is that because I know how much work goes into having a fair and accurate promotion board selection process. I don't want to say how I know on my main account, but there's a lot of laws and regulation into how this process works. Having the Sec Def just change the list based on random grievances (or race, gender, etc) is just absurd.

Its time to stop depending on a broken and corrupt system to fix itself through just votes and rallies (don't get me wrong, they are still necessary, just NOT ENOUGH). These clowns are all in on it together and just put up a show for the American audience to think that there is some heated internal war between democrats and republicans. WAKE UP EVERYONE, the war is between the rich and the poor, and the rich have been winning for longer than most of our lives are long. THEY DON'T PLAY BY THE RULES THAT THEY EXPECT US (THE POOR) TO PLAY BY. Its time for the true Americans (we the people of America) to break ourselves free from this "game" and its rigged rules.
