Help finding Nostalgic Movies

Posted by LemonActive8278

im looking for a Spanish Movie Database, I used to watch movies that my dad would rent from a Mexican video rental store in California and I can not find traces of the following 2 movies. \-The first movie is a movie about 3 men who kidnap a the daughter of a powerful man to hold her ransom, but the powerful man's security lead purposely botches the exchange resulting in a shoot out so that he can steal the ransom money and claim it was a setup. The 3 men then bond with the girl and eventually end up dying trying to return her home, which they do. \- The second movie is about a boy that is kidnapped on horse back and eventually escapes his kidnapper and finds refuge when he runs into an older man wearing a poncho living in a humble home, potentially a hut. The man teaches him how to use a slingshot and eventually returns the kid home, riding on a donkey. There might also be an ending where the kidnapper and father of the boy get into a fist fight over shallow water.

man those descriptions are super specific but i have no clue what either of those movies are called. might want to try asking on r/tipofmytongue too since thats basically there whole thing also maybe check if any of the old video stores in your area are still around - sometimes the owners remember random titles from way back and could point you in the right direction

For the database part, I'd try FilmAffinity first. It's much stronger for Spanish-language and Latin American cinema than IMDb if you're chasing stuff that lived in old rental-store circulation. I'd also try doing Spanish searches with plot fragments on Google and put site:filmaffinity.com or site:sensacine.com in the query. Sometimes those old Mexican rental titles were known under a different U.S. title, a dubbing title, or a VHS distributor title, which is why they vanish if you search the English description straight. You might also have luck posting the descriptions in Spanish, even rough Spanish, because someone will recognize the vibe faster that way. The first one especially sounds like the kind of movie that may have had multiple alternate titles depending on the VHS release.

try searching in IMDb but filter by country (mexico/spain) and older years… sometimes the spanish titles are diff from what we remember also lowkey… a lot of those movies from small rental shops never got properly archived online u could also try asking in communities or forums, some ppl there are rlly good at finding super specific old films hope u find them tho… feels kinda sad when u cant track down childhood stuff like that

Yeah, part of me feels like rewatching these movies will unlock more lost memories from my childhood.
