The man has lied his entire life. In what world did anyone think that he wouldn't lie to them?

“But you don’t know him like we do!” —His supporters, who also don’t really know him at all.

yeah i'm flabbergasted that the nepo baby who spent his entire life lying, grifting, raping, stealing, conning, and putting his name in giant gold letters on everything would lie and con working class people to get them to vote for him. really out of character for the lying conman rapist pedophile to lie and con like that, who could've seen this coming?

They knew he would do bad things to the people they don't like, but they didn't think he would do bad things to them. They didn't realize that for Trump everyone is expendable.

Exploitable then expendable.

I will shout this from the rooftops every time the topic comes up -- if everyone was forced to actually watch Trump's speeches or sit through his addresses or read all of his Truth Social posts, the number of MAGA voters would be far, far lower. There are countless Republicans who get the sanitized, sane-washed version of Trump they see on Facebook or Fox News. They literally cannot understand why people don't like him because as you said, they really don't know him at all. They see propaganda Trump. Fox News didn't even *mention* his disgusting post about Mueller's death. Of course they think he's great because that's all they *let themselves* see. They've heard plenty of people talk shit about Trump and apart from the most technologically-illiterate old people, anyone can figure out why with a simple Google search. Conservatives love to live by "don't ask, don't tell" when they know that it'll hurt the image of someone they like.

Seems that Fox News is really doing some heavy liftting here and the easiest way to get rid of Maga is to kill the messenger.

This is why he ran away from all the agreed debates and all but hid until election day.

You give them too much credit. They like what he says, especially the parts about going after immigrants, people of color, and women. That’s why his support hasn’t really changed because they agree with him. Until they are personally affected (e.g., higher gas prices, loss of jobs, inflation, high mortgage rates) they’ll continue to support him.

Yah_Mule Mar 29, 2026 +3
Listen, everybody heard "grab 'em by the p****" and a million other hideous things he's said, so just stop with this nonsense. That Trumper in your life you're making these excuses for in your mind doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt, okay?

Sminahin Mar 28, 2026 +11
The narrative I've seen is more like "all politicians lie". I know a lot of people who voted Trump, Biden, Trump despite loathing Trump the whole time. Because they were so sure us Dems were even worse. A lot of these people never forgave us for running Kerry and were convinced both mainstream Dems and Republicans were blatant criminals and openly corrupt. So they made a really stupid lesser evil decision based on branding and superficial political awareness.
11
giddy-girly-banana Mar 28, 2026 +4
Kerry was a criminal?
4
Timeformayo Mar 28, 2026 +5
They know him less than anyone. These people are sheep who would walk themselves directly into the slaughterhouse just because there was a picture of a green field painted on the side. Doesn't even matter that they see the mutton trucks heading out from the loading docks.

Immature, young, especially white, men without fully formed frontal lobes that thought "Bro is a funny troll" and civil rights for other people is "just drama." The manosphere is like a Mid-level marketing scheme. Everyone in it thinks they'll win. They also prep their audience to believe that if they don't win, it's because of women and or minorities. Tale as old as time. Edit: to the comments saying "it's more than just men/white men" that supported Trump, yes, true, but the OP is about *men*.
76
MadRaymer Mar 28, 2026 +43
> "Bro is a funny troll" It's amazing how many people thought that was a plus. Like they thought the election was just a meme and didn't think any consequences out beyond how funny they thought it was, as if they were in on some great joke that the rest of us don't get because we actually care about having competent leadership.
43
notfeelany Mar 28, 2026 +7
They voted for him because they wanted to slurs again. According to that "Cruel Kids table" article: ["Later, a former Bernie supporter (who looked like the most Bernie-supporting person one could imagine with long, curly hair and a plaid shirt) told me the same: He wanted the freedom to say f\*gg\*t and r\*\*arded.""](https://archive.ph/9aa8N) Maybe they
7
kung-fu_hippy Mar 28, 2026 +3
It’s more than the manosphere. Trump carried the majority of white women. As have all republican candidates for the last quarter century.

Trump's real turnout is 50-80 year olds who just like him cause he's racist, i would know, that basically describes my family. Don't blame the youth blame the ones who should know better. Boomers sold to their children to baal, their country to Israel and their minds to fanstism. All hail the orange God
19
Taysir385 Mar 28, 2026 +3
> Don't blame the youth blame the ones who should know better. This is, unironically, why I don’t blame all boomers. For many people in a terrible situation, there has never been an opportunity to move past the toxicity. Nothing but propaganda on TV and radio. Schools intentional crippled to keep them uninformed. And an outdated and outmoded clan identity that persists due to lack of exposure to the antiseptic benefits of travel and different viewpoints and different cultures. If someone “hates every single n****r”, I doubt that there’s redemption. But if someone thinks the one black person in town is “one of the good ones,” then that’s showing the potential for a worldview that isn’t tainted by the artificial limits of their experience. Still a racist view, still a bad thing, but one that is more likely to reflect the world that person has always lived in, and therefore one they may still, I truly believed, be grown past. There’s an applicable quote from a nineties movie for this. “ The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”
3
rooktakesqueen Mar 28, 2026 +7
It was mostly older men listening to Rush and other AM radio bullshit. Capturing young people with that is relatively new.
7
Taysir385 Mar 28, 2026 +4
Rush Limbaugh’s demographic (in particular) was 30% female. So yes, mostly men, but hardly exclusively. The age demo tracked with him over time, becoming older as he did; when he was middle age, so was his predominant demo. The only predominant majority for the viewership was Conservative, with between 80 and 95% of the listeners depending on how the metric was measured. Old conservative white men are, frankly, an existential problem. But it’s important to bear in mind that so are old conservative white women, old conservative black men, young conservative white men, etc.

Iran has 3x the population, 4x the size of Iraq and didn't fold in the first 24 hours. It's mountainous and teeming with Shahed drones The US military actually doesn't have the number of active army troops needed to occupy Iran, so if Trump wants it.. Ready to get drafted and die for your pedo emperor yet?

Being Trump, he would probably demand that if a draft did come back, start with the college liberals, and use government spying on social media to ID anyone to the left of MAGA to be the front line bullet/bomb shields. He still needs enough rubes to stay home and support him. If he got his loyalists killed right away, he would be even closer to facing the possibility of an actual impeachment doing something, which is still very much a fantasy at this point.
14
Sigma_Function-1823 Mar 28, 2026 +9
He doesn't think in terms of cause and effect nor care about his in the least. To him they exist to obey him whatever he says or does. Anyone that complains, protests or shows disloyalty will be dealt with by the DOJ or DHS, repurposed ICE as traitors. Fully expect him to put his son in uniform and trot him out from.his nice safe rear area duty station to say " my son is serving why aren't you?" . Lots of bullshit theater in support of his war. Really depends on the midterms. If democrats have a good showing he won't have a ability to pull.this off. If on the other hand republican's keep their majorities the odds he will call a general.muster and walk the US into another war are significantly more probable.
9
olmnknt Mar 28, 2026 +26
No they have more and more voters rolls from states. If a draft happens it will be a majority of young democrats.
26
Isbleeding Mar 28, 2026 +55
They would be making a huge mistake if they did that. They would have Democrats gathering together, training for combat and all have a mutual rage for why they are there. You can see where that could lead.

Trump is so unhealthy that I don't think he would live to see the consequences of that action. We really need an upper age limit on three presidency (and Congress)

Gonna institute a draft and nobody’s gonna care and they’ll look even stupider when nobody shows up.
10
Recent-Singer8146 Mar 28, 2026 +8
I don’t think a US military draft is possible: it would cause the politicians chaos as the citizens would promptly protest and/or vote them out. Even the GOP knows any draft would be deeply unpopular and would bring down any govt. attempting to boost the size of the military by forced conscription.
8
TheNatural14063 Mar 28, 2026 +3

Iran isn't exactly a modern military super power but they have spent decades preparing for a US military invasion Iran would represent by far the best equipped and trained military that the US has fought in decades. The US and their leadership seem wholly unprepared for this fight and what it would look like. I am sure there are a bunch of analysts who could have drawn this whole thing out exactly as it has unfolded only for Kegsbreath and Trump to simply say 'we are the best military ever we can't possibly lose'
104
BigPapaJava Mar 28, 2026 +104
Analysts DID draw this out exactly as it has unfolded… since the Ayatollah government seized power and took American hostages during the Carter administration. This was not a secret or even something that wasn’t already EXTREMELY well known. The Iranians frequently said it publicly. The Iranians always said they would immediately close the Strait to hold 20% of the world’s energy hostage, then attack “American interests in the region” (read: oil and gas facilities) with missiles if they ever faced an existential threat. Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama, Trump 1, and Biden all AVOIDED any major military action against them (besides an occasional, limited missile strike or assassination) because they knew there was no real solution to the problem other than a manned invasion to take and hold the Strait while working on regime change. Now they have a massive, nearly infinite, fleet of c**** ($20-50k) drones that can outpace our ability to shoot them down one at a time with $3-5 million missiles, too. That means we can’t just outspend them, which has been a key U.S. military strategy in every war since WW1. Either Trump and his team is lying about not seeing this coming and being ok with that or they are completely incompetent even by FoxNews pundit standards.
104

If only there were a nation that had experience fighting those drones and had given them a presentation of low cost counters to those...if only.

No_Accountant3232 Mar 28, 2026 +14
War with Iran would have been a Defcon 1 situation in any other administration. This can and will go nuclear if this idiocy continues. That's why we were arming the shit out of Iraq in the 80s so Saddam would be dumb enough to start a full scale invasion and we'd go in and pick up the pieces.
14
tethysian Mar 28, 2026 +5
Not only that, the US breaking international norms first gives Russia any of the other lunatics in his dictators' club a convenient excuse to do the same.
5
WeirdIndividualGuy Mar 28, 2026 +8
> Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama, Trump 1, and Biden all AVOIDED any major military action against them (besides an occasional, limited missile strike or assassination) because they knew there was no real solution to the problem This implies there was a problem to begin with. There was never any real reason to invade Iran, not today, not 10 years ago or even 40 years ago
8
Any_Put3520 Mar 28, 2026 +5
To my knowledge Trump 1 was the only American government other than Carter to order direct military action against Iran. This would’ve been the air strike on Gen Soleimani. There was also the incident of shooting down an Iranian civilian airliner in the 80s, and perhaps some indirect operations in Yemen or Lebanon, Syria, Iraq against the militias. No other administration has done military action because it’s always been clear it won’t work. Whatever got into Trump 2, right around when the FBI didn’t release the Epstein files like mandated Trump invaded Venezuela, threatened Greenland, and attacked Iran while also threatening Cuba. I just can’t understand why these actions would happen now, again while we all wait for the FBI to release the Epstein files as congressionally mandated.

14
DillBagner Mar 28, 2026 +6
From what I understand about Iran, they more separated the loyalists and regular military and just gave the loyalists more power. Correct me if I'm wrong though, I've never really looked in to how loyal their regular army is.
6
BigPapaJava Mar 28, 2026 +4

Thing is that the great superpowers underestimate the survival instincts of people. Desperate times will result in low tech guerilla warfare and wars of attrition. So many examples from Vietnam to Afghanistan ( both the Soviets and then the US) to the Germans trying to subjugate Britain or the USSR to their peril. We’re seeing that with Ukraine right now. Iran will play whatever cards it has knowing there’s elections in November. It has strategically made alliances with Russia and created enough oil dependency with China and India.
8
Tegurd Mar 28, 2026 +6
This is very true. For example in my country (Sweden) both the military and general public has been told to never surrender if we ever become occupied. Even if our leaders are killed or make peace and our military are ordered to stand down we are told to disobey such orders and resist occupation. It’s incredibly hard to subjugate a small country that doesn’t accept occupation. It can easily evolve into guerilla warfare that is extremely hard to win if you’re the offender. The defenders will always have much more willpower and endurance because they are fighting for their survival on a whole other level. So even if you have ”won” you have to constantly deal with sabotage, bombings and ambushes.
6
manachar Mar 28, 2026 +25
Trump and similar fascist conservatives see the world like a bully. They believe in a few swift punches to get a lifetime of “free” lunch money. To be fair, it often works. They know a secret about humanity. People would rather endure injustice than fight it, especially if the injustice comes from a position of power. People fear future escalation more than present injustice. So they hand over the lunch money until they have no other choice. You see, most people inherently know that fighting is risky. That even if your cause is righteous you and even if you win, you can end up with more damage than if you didn’t resist.
25
BigPapaJava Mar 28, 2026 +15
And that’s why bullies are always in trouble when they find someone who’s willing to just stand up to them and hit back. The bully might win that fight, but they’re going to learn their lesson and not enjoy the pain inflicted on themselves. Bullies target weak victims for this exact reason. Trump saying he thought the Iranians would crumple like paper after the Ayatollah died and a few missiles hit Tehran is either a lie based on decades of “common knowledge”intelligence he should have heard over and over again since 2017 that he just disregarded or it is total stupidity and incompetence by this administration.
15
Taysir385 Mar 28, 2026 +6
> he just disregarded or it is total stupidity and incompetence by this administration. Trump thought that Iran would respond to his behavior the same way that the US has.

3
BigPapaJava Mar 28, 2026 +24
This is how Trump has “handled” crisis situations his whole life. Step 1. Talk a bunch of people into supporting you and giving you lots of their money with promises of profit and great things. Step 2: Proceed to make some bizarre, unnecessary, and completely preventable move for egotistical reasons that throws a wrench into the plan and puts the whole thing in jeopardy. Step 3: Tell your benefactors that only way out of the mess you just created is to continue to hang on and follow the course you set at the beginning. because if they pull out now they lose everything and possibly face legal consequences far more severe than what you’ll deal with personally. Step 4: Laugh at your supporters and mock them for their powerlessness and bag holding because you’ve already dropped a bomb on the situation (in this case literally. and thousands of them) that can’y be um-dropped now. What else are they going to do? They now get to hold your bags, which was always part of the plan, too.
24
trampolinebears Mar 28, 2026 +23
Easy way to tell Trump didn’t have a plan: the US strategic oil reserve wasn’t full when he started the war. He didn’t realize Iran would close the strait. If he had, he would have filled up on gas before the prices went up.
23
danceswithporn Mar 28, 2026 +18
There are more ways to know there was no plan. We decommissioned our minesweepers in the area in January, and the replacements are still in Malaysia. The Tripoli was in Japan and is still days away. The Boxer was in San Diego and is still weeks away. And the Gerald Ford had been deployed for 9 months and needed repairs (currently in Croatia).

I don't know why the Dems aren't running on the possibility of Trump bringing back the draft. It should be in political ads from today until the midterms. "Vote Republican and you could get drafted to go fight in Trump's wars". Even if Trump says that he won't bring it back, just say that you can't trust him because there is a war and he lies about everything. What 20-year old would want to risk getting drafted?

>The US military actually doesn't have the number of active army troops needed to occupy Iran, so if Trump wants it.. >Ready to get drafted and die for your pedo emperor yet? Only about 24-25% of Gen Z men are fit enough under current physical requirements to even be drafted. That's probably the reason for the recent age update. Though even with a draft Iran is basically a fortress. No amount of regular manpower is keeping Iran controlled for more than a few weeks at best. Bit of a tangent but imagine if Iran was six times larger geographically, has roughly four times the population, and almost every adult is capable or expected to own a firearm. Now you start to see why the idea of martial law doesn't work here when our military really only makes up about a 1% of the population. A decent chunk of which are stationed abroad.

It also has a history of buying huge amounts of mining equipment for the building of tunnels, including machines that can dig upward from underground so that the building of the tunnels is not as visible from the outside. They've been doing something with all that mining equipment for the past 20 years and it's not been mining resources, their mineral resources are very underdeveloped because of all the sanctions against them.

Besides the usual racist and sexist beliefs, I think most of MAGA also just doesn’t want to take responsibility for what’s happening. “We didn’t know! We were tricked!” Is the best way to completely evade responsibility for their choices, which have collectively made everyone’s lives, including theirs, worse. Most of these people suffer from chronic “it’s not my fault!” while simultaneously being incapable of holding the nuance that while they might not be individually responsible for discrimination, they uphold a system that perpetuates discrimination.

Welcome to the Vietnam War. It was the same thing then. All the f****** conservative young men were pro war right up until their draft number got called. And then they'd invent medical issues or deliberately pissed their pants during the medical to get out of it. Those same men are running the Republican party now.
3
Broken_chairs Mar 28, 2026 +156
Young MAGA man = 30yo? Not that 30 is old... but like come on, the dude was 20 when Trump was first elected, saw what a clusterfuck that was, and is only now surprised that he elected a liar?? FAFO champ.
156
IJourden Mar 28, 2026 +8
I mean, if you're talking about the average age of a Republican voter, 30 is practically a baby. The only people younger than 30 voting for Trump are people whose parents deliberately filled them with hate, or whose parents neglected them so much they got scooped up by incel/manosphere social media when they couldn't connect anywhere else.
8
JeffSteinMusic Mar 28, 2026 +397
These young MAGA men were told that Trump was lying about everything, didn’t listen, and now they’re here to whine that he lied about everything. Ain’t that some peak f****** privilege.

How do we punish these people economically? I mean, like, more than the rest of us? Elections have consequences, right? So, until these people start their redemption tours to put in the work to fix the damage they've done, I would like to see 'economic incentives' that remind them to be better next time.
10
pUmKinBoM Mar 28, 2026 +92
But heaven forbid you say "You had access to the exact information I had and told you this would happen the entire time and you ignored me" Because if you do you are met with "Oh yeah I bet you are so happy to be right. This is why Ill never vote Democrat and talking like this is why Trump won." We are captured by the dumbest portion of Americans. They will only accept not only doing exactly what they say but also expect silence from all oversight or critisism or else they threaten to burn it all down and blame you for it.
92
JeffSteinMusic Mar 28, 2026 +23
Yep, only underscores the peak privilege. As a society we seem to be allergic to the basic concept of holding free-willed grown-ass adults accountable for their fuckups and their moral failures. We’re especially allergic to this when it comes to Republican voters - the most privileged and coddled people on the face of the earth.
23
b_tight Mar 28, 2026 +20

I think a bunch of them thought feminism would get reversed. That we'd go back to women having to marry and be subservient to men. However not completely dependent on men because they also want those women to keep working and making money instead of returning to SAHM traditions. That way men can avoid the pressures of being a sole provider and keep most of the money they make for fun stuff, have the woman financially taking care of herself, the children, clean the house, cook, and provide sex on demand.

Netanyahu wanted this war for 40 years. Trump was the first president in that timeframe that was dumb enough to do it.

>“Trump and Republicans in general are going to have major issues in the midterms, in 2028, if we can’t wrap this up in a relatively quick amount of time,” said 21-year-old Andrew Belcher, president of the Ohio College Republicans. He added that Trump is doing “relatively poorly” with hyper online young men who are influenced heavily by media figures like Tucker Carlson and other isolationists in the GOP. This is where Gen Z gets their news. We had a good run.

Right? I can somewhat understand dumb kids thinking Rogan is kind of a cool guy, but Tucker Carlson is such an obvious arrogant lying a******, I don't see the appeal for anyone really. Then again, I still cannot fathom people thinking that Trump of all people should be president. Twice.
20

Exactly! They know THAT Trump is failing (that's just vibes, after all), but *very few* will understand *why* he failed; why his promises were not only impossible, but dangerous.
4
Mor_Padraig Mar 28, 2026 +7
It's where that segment of young men- and I don't think we can point fingers broadly at Z's- *choose* to get.... what they *choose* to consider news. Pretty sure it's a matter of clicking around, until something hateful enough registers.

Exactly, the question isn't whether sentiment is changing. It's has it changed enough for them to behave in the opposite direction. At best we'll get abstinence from them as they become even more disengaged
3
iFlashings Mar 28, 2026 +6
No it isn't. Anytime a report comes out about MAGA turning on Trump it is immediately contradicted by his poll numbers remaining stable with his voter base.  It's obvious either they're lying about how they really feel about Trump, or the media is creating clickbait articles for views.

Of course he did he's a liar, felon, con man, grifter, pedo. The list of descriptive words to describe him is long and none of the words should be complimentary. F*** Joe Rogan too. That a****** is trying to wash his hands of it. Once he's gone there is going to be an insane amount of gas lighting about "I never really supported him" or the Republicans saying "we need to get the party back"

What happened to young men? When I came of age to vote, I didn’t know very many young men who would ever trust any politician. We all distrusted lying liars for good reason… where are young men getting the idea “he did really poorly last time, but THIS time, he’ll be great!” Did they get some kind of benefit from Trump 1.0 that gives them nostalgia? Is it all a natural result of that mistrust we used to have? A logical extension of “I can’t trust the government, but I can trust this influencer because they’re a real person like me”?

Spread the word to other MAGA’s because they don’t want to hear reasonable criticism when facts are revealed the their Commander and Chief’s horrific conduct to use people for his personal gain. That’s why the unredacted version of the Epstein Files has not been released.

REPUBLICANS LIED! NOT JUST TRUMP Republicans lied. They lie to you about what they stand for. They lie to you about what others stand for. They lie to your face about everything to get us to hate each other so them and their buddies can rob us all blind and take away any opportunities we have to achieve the American dream. Dont let them give trump all the blame and then just continue along next election about everything. They are liars and you cannot trust them.
1
InertiasCreep Mar 28, 2026 +2
If you believed the lies, then yeah. However, the article pertains to young MAGA guys. They're in the 'he's supposed to be hurting the right people' category because maybe someday they get drafted and actually have to fight this war.
2

Turns out 'no new wars' was just another campaign slogan. Who could have possibly seen this coming?

3

2
blackmobius Mar 28, 2026 +2
They should be upset. Hes made it harder to get the opportunity to make their lives better, made it harder to exist, and saddled them with bills they can never hope to repay. But theyll get over it cause trump also makes lgbt people mad and thats all the maga ever really wanted
2
BearTimberlands Mar 28, 2026 +2
I call bull junk. Everyone will revert back to their previous positions when it really matters. During election time they’ll be self soothing telling themselves a Republican is still better on the economy (tax cuts for the wealthy), social issues (anti trans/anti brown), and foreign policy (bullying). I hear and read a lot of “yeah I don’t think he made a good choice but I’d rather him than the democrats.

If you can't tell an obvious lie maybe your just dumb.
2
Rezzekes Mar 28, 2026 +2
Ok. Perfect opening for Vance or whoever else the Republicans endorse. Trump's status is clearly crumbling, and I suspect he'll be dumped relatively soon, just to be replaced by even worse. Trump is genuinly dumb. There's plenty of republicans that are just as evil but actually have the brains to carry out their plans. I fear that the people that come after Trump will really and openly create a fascist state. I really hope that the US has checks in place to uphold democracy. We will see what happens to the midterms I guess.

2

I'm not sure why the media keeps trying to hype of the unpopularity of Donald Trump amongst his base. It's simply not the truth. He, and his actions, remain as popular as ever. The few who question Iran get drowned out. It's almost like they want people to get complacent.
2
Soft_Author2593 Mar 28, 2026 +2
Yeah, lol. Because now they feel like their actions could have consequences, if they are drafted. F*** those assholes
