Hezbollah has lawmakers?

Hezbollah has 13 seats in Lebanon's 128 seat parliament.

They are both hezbollah and Lebanese lawmakers. It's like saying "democratic lawmaker says X" and you respond "actually they're American lawmakers!"
21
Melinoe2016 2 days ago +14
Hezbollah is their party. Do you not call republicans “republican lawmakers” ? Most people do
14
MaxPlanck_420 2 days ago +9
Yes, as long as you are only talking about politicians they are Lebanese. When they attack Israel it is Hezbollah attacking and not Lebanon. But when Israel attacks Hezbollah, they are actually attacking Lebanon. This all make sense now?

Yes... what kind of question is that? 😂

lancersrock 2 days ago +15
Western media talks about Hezbollah like they are ISIS, terrorist organizations typically don't have legal representation in the govt.
15
dfiner 2 days ago +75
This is one of those cases where both are true. Most Lebanese (including the real government) want nothing to do with them. They are an Iranian proxy that supports and funds terror attacks. They are so numerous in Lebanon that they were able to muscle their way into “legitimacy” (quotes doing a lot of heavy lifting here). Lebanon is also extremely diverse with multiple muslim sects, Christian’s, and Druze. But Hezbollah is only located in one of the communities (Shia Muslims) and actively shunned by the rest. Most hate Hezbollah so much that they assume any Shia Muslims are associated which causes additional tension in the country.

Let's not get into pseudo-legitimising backwards theocratic shitheels, if possible.

Fatah in The West Bank is the poltical arm of the PLO, Hamas is actually the name of the political wing of the the terrorist group officially known ad the Al-Qassam Brigades. Badr isnthe political wing of the Iranian Proxy PMF in Iraq's.parliament.

Stop sanewashing Hezbollah. ISIS also had its own civil service network you don’t see people claiming it’s a legitimate state now do you? If anything Hezbollah being parliament shows how deep the tendrils of this terror org reach and how deep the roots that need to be pulled and burnt are .
12
lancersrock 2 days ago +1
I'm not sanewashing Hezbollah, just saying why people might be confused. ISIS is always portrayed as a terrorist org vs Hezbollah is treated a little more "official" in us media.

Unlucky_Accountant71 2 days ago +3
That's because they are like isis. Wtf
3
Sea-Cheesecake301 2 days ago +2
No. Hezbollah is a terrorist organization like ISIS because they also participate in terrorism.

America has democrat and republican lawmakers even though they are all American politicians. This isn’t super tough
4
faffc260 2 days ago +10
due to how fucked lebanon's political system is with segregated positions for certain religious sects and a required % of representation iirc (could be wrong) it's much easier for a popular terrorist group to have a successful political wing when they are part of one of the sects with guaranteed representation.

Iran's suggested ten point plan demands a stop to strikes in Lebanon. This is going well.
-8
daywall 2 days ago +1
This is a different ceasefire plan. That plan is from Pakistan and China.
1
phoenixmusicman 2 days ago -2
Nope. Iran says Ceasefire wont hold if Israel keeps up operations in Lebanon.
-2
HummusSwipper 1 day ago +4
Hezbollah absolutely did not stop attacks, there have been \~10 rocket launches by it in the last day

No-Faithlessness2879 2 days ago +47
Not saying Israel is right or wrong but this is on Lebanon to get their shit together. They banned Hezbollah but still allow them to dominate the country. If Lebanon wants peace with Israel, they need to get rid of the recognized Terrorist organization that is running their country. Its as simple as that.

You understand nothing about Lebanon and the middle east... it's simple as that.

If the USA had a massive faction of Texans who were a particular religion amongst themselves and formed militias hundreds of thousands strong to attack Mexico with weapons sold by Russia, it would be on the USA to end that. Otherwise, Mexico attacking Texas would be completely fair game.
40
Song-Historical 2 days ago -19
They only exist in this hypothetical scenario if the US doesn't have a real military and Mexico: a) refuses to recognize or declare their own borders and keeps grabbing more land, 'establishing a buffer zone', moving settlers into said buffer zone then saying they need more buffer because someone lobbed a rock or a grenade at a goat for stealing land that's belonged to Latino Texans for generations.   b) repeatedly invades and bombs civilians on said border forcing an armed response.   c) whines about the armed response being organized and allied with Canada and Brazil.   d) is funded by China to the point where it now faces the most well armed non state actors in the world, because Texas wouldn't survive otherwise.
-19
SP1570 2 days ago -46
You would need to add a few ingredients in your example: - the hostilities between Texas and Mexico started decades ago and nobody can actually pinpoint who fired the first shot - Texans have the strong suspicion that Mexico wants to annex them and then kick the indigenous population out (as they have done it in other places already) - the US government is totally absent from Texas - the religious militia acts as de facto government providing basic services and some level of welfare Lebanon is far from black and white...
-46
Due-Department-8906 2 days ago +21
Nothing you listed convinced me that Mexico shouldn't deal with Texas until the USA does something. The way you said it made it sound like Mexico isn't invading the USA at all, but only a third government who is attacking Mexico.

What don't I understand? Its very simple, the actual Lebanese people are great, just like the Iranian people(non IRGC are great). There are great places within Lebanon and also Iran. But Lebanon is also dominated by Hezbollah, which is backed by the IRGC. The Lebanese Armed Forces are not stronger than Hezbollah so Hezbollah dominates the country and has committed multiple Terrorist attacks on record against the people of Lebanon. TLDR: Lebanon People(non-Hezbollah)=Good and Hezbollah(IRGC backed terrorist group)=Bad

Many more funerals for Hezbollah operatives
14
crash_bat 2 days ago +6
They're bombing residential areas, it's mostly funerals for civilians - ie old people, children, ordinary citizens just trying to get through the day. The way you dismiss their deaths is abhorrent.
6
Lethaldiran-NoggenEU 2 days ago +15
Evacuation notices claim otherwise. If Hezbollah's military arm wasn't entrenched in civilian population then there would be much less casualties. If Lebanon would have disarmed Hezbollah as they said they would, there would literally be none. So long as an organization that has vowed to destroy Israel is pulling the strings in Lebanon, Lebanon will be under attack. Sadly innocent get hurt too, let us pray for the wounded.

No, I don't really care what you think. Quite frankly, your lot will never be satisfied until my country is destroyed, my people are raped and murdered and my house is in ruins. I say what I believe, unlike your performative comments.
7
WellsFargone 2 days ago -6
This only makes sense if you’re Lebanese talking to an Israeli.
-6
Lethaldiran-NoggenEU 2 days ago +15
We have no quarrel with the Lebanese, we long for the day we can ski, navigate the desert and swim, all on the same day, but that day is far.

The last 100 bombing blitz didnt have he usual 30m warning and went beyond the southern border where most striked were concetrated before. Qnd besides an ceasefire was in place israel broke it

7
Substantial_Milk8170 2 days ago +5
One side pauses, the other continues. Realistically, it doesn't look like we’re anywhere near a ceasefire anytime soon.
5
Teeklee1337 2 days ago +51
There isn't any current ceasefire deal between Israel or Hezbollah (Lebanon) ...

YogiBarelyThere 2 days ago +33
How often does Hizbollah not fire rockets into Israel? I believe they only take breaks after their weapons and stockpiles get depleted. Historically speaking.
33
MiserableTennis6546 2 days ago -13
They fire when Israel is at war with their allies, which in recent years amounts to the same thing. Before the wars they weren't firing.
-13
almog546 2 days ago +3
So they don’t decide when Israel stop if they fire at Israel when they want Israel will stop when they want
3
ux3l 2 days ago +3
It depends. If Iran doesn't care about Hezbolla, the ceasefire affecting the strait of Hormuz might hold.

Israel cannot allow a terrorist group to fester so close to its borders. It will result in another attack like Oct. 7.
10
ThrowRA_deviant301 2 days ago -17
It did let the terrorist group fester that led to Oct 7
-17
Simple_Map_1852 2 days ago +7
Exactly. Lessons learned. Best not to make that mistake again.
7
Ultra_Metal 2 days ago +32
Exactly my point. There should be no terrorist groups allowed on any of Israel's borders.

Israel called it “Operation Eternal Darkness”. That’s an awesome name.

It is quite clear, israel does not want to stop the killing. Almost like how the russians drop a load of bombs after any kind of ceasefire talk is underway with the Ukrainians. They don't want to stop. That is now 2 nuclear powers that want to kill and destroy others and cannot be told no. Sad times.

Israel want hezbullah to disarm. Why should it stop the war if hezbullah do not agree to disarm?
42
IntelArtiGen 2 days ago +53
Even the lebanese government wants to disarm Hezbollah. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2025/09/05/lebanon-says-army-will-begin-implementing-hezbollah-disarmament-plan_6745078_4.html

The whole UN Security council wants them to - see UN Resolution 1701. Twenty years of Hezbollah ignoring it.
30
Teeklee1337 2 days ago +27
They "want" it, but don't actually do it.
27
CaptainBunderpants 2 days ago +15
Insane to rage at Israel for continuing a defensive war. Until there are guarantees for their security against further Hezbollah aggression they won’t and shouldn’t stop. Tactically though, they should try to displace and kill fewer civilians (as always with them) and action should be taken by outside parties to make that happen.
15
filikesmash 2 days ago +6
This is a temporary 2 week ceasefire, the war is far from stopped until any agreement has been reached between both sides.
6
Unhappy-Bullfrog5597 2 days ago -28
Israël are terrorists, just like the other terrorists. And under protection for things that happened 75 years ago
-28
GodOfBoy8 2 days ago -7
So they pause yet israel continues attacking? Not surprised. There will be no ceasefire. Israel wants to take over amd kill as many as it can in the middle east
-7
almog546 2 days ago +2
So they can fire rockets when they want and just stop when they get attacked and then expect Israel to stop you hearing yourself?
