Joel Madden has entered the chat...

Aron Carter, even though he was closer in age, was also sort of a red flag.

How did he hurt Hilary? They were like 13 and there were no issues

I didn’t say he hurt her. But he had a history of substance abuse and I believe juggled her with Lindsay Lohan, which caused their original feud.

The topic is about Hilary being exploited or harmed in the industry. The person mentioned Joel because he dated her when she was 16 and he was like 26. It makes no sense to mention Aaron in that context because he never harmed Hilary. Edit: Lol this person blocked me

Thanks for clearing that up. As previously stated, I was referring to his substance abuse issue, and dating someone at a young age who’s also perhaps a bit impressionable, but okay.

Yeah his own mother gave him the drugs as a child so he was less tired and could perform more hours .

> “I think I feel really quite sad when I watch a lot of those documentaries, for obvious reasons,” Duff said. “I feel very grateful that I wasn’t put in too many positions that left battle wounds on me. But I have held a job as an adult since I was nine years old. I have a very different upbringing. I have a lot of missed experiences, but also a lot of amazing [ones].”

One line there I think people just don't even realize. Its literally a job for these children.

Pop stars recounting their careers has kind of just solidified for me the lie of the pop ecosystem. Its sold as being about talented people living their dreams but its peoples dreams being monetized and corporatized and their humanity slowly eliminated bit by bit. Some have had strong enough support systems to resist the worst of it others had families like Britneys.

Literally what I hear when people like her say that is " You must have had a good mom."

Yup, we are now seeing the same thing play out with Justin Bieber. 😕

Which makes the k-pop industry so weird to me like, it’s a concentrated version of what everyone says is bad about the music industry, and it’s the hottest thing in music right now

I mean how long have you been a pop fan. Pop fans have known this since as far back as the 90’s. And music wise we have seen this across genres since the 30’s. But check out the movie Josie in the pussycats. 90’s comedy that shines light on exactly what you are talking about. And shows we have know this about pop stars for a long time.

Exactly this. I wouldn’t hold any studio accountable for what happens after a star moves out of the limelight as it’s purely a job like any other that is subject to terminating employment at will, but if they market it as “living the dream” then they’re putting themselves on the hook for their well being during and after.

Suprised because Frankie Muniz said Hilary’s mom was more like a manager (than an actual mom) and she sort of made him uncomfortable. He said he mentioned he was doing Cody Banks to her, and the very next day, Hilary had signed on.

She was tough which is probably why Hilary was protected

She’s not saying she had a perfect experience. Just that it wasn’t as bad as a lot of others had it.

"Too many" I.e. she was put in bad positions more than once. Horrible.

Got to be a Solution to this somewhere. BS has got to be careful or else she will Die Young herself.

I mean of course not, her mom was too busy inflicting that harm on anyone near here in Hollywood. Go ask Frankie Munez.

Eh I disagree about it being strange. She’s expressing sympathy but talking about her own experience which she’s allowed to do. Especially since this interview is regarding her times 100 honor. She really doesn’t need to speak on anyone else’s experience because she likely had no idea what actually went on in the majority of those people’s lives.  Hot take but the whole “free Britney” movement didn’t particularly help Britney at all. She still needs a lot of therapy and support which she is struggling with now. IMO that’s a good lesson to people that we don’t need to speak for other people if we don’t really know what’s best for them

Britney did not want to be in the conservatorship. She made that very clear. She called 911. She was able to get herself removed from the conservatorship. While her fans were supportive, Britney had herself removed. Fans had nothing to do with it. If she was able to tour and care for herself, there was no reason for it. Just because someone needs therapy and support does not mean they should be in a conservatorship. Especially if the conservator does not have their best interest and is stealing from them and drugging them.

That's actually a fairly normal way that Duff goes about this question. The one thing anyone ever wants to ask her about is her teenage stardom and why she's "normal" compared to everyone else and her only responses are basically just that she had a good support system. She doesn't advocate for the others like her other than to say she feels sorry for them and what they went through compared to her. There was an interview not too long ago where she said some younger teenage stars had contacted her and asked for advice on how to handle the fame and attention and she didn't respond because she "had no experience with that they were dealing with." She keeps her distance.
