I'm a bit lost in the logic here, doesn't everyone need a real ID or passport to travel? What's ice really suppose to do at airports? Just terrorize people?

Get people used to living in a military state. Keep ice in airports, and then put em stationed in certain other places and expand. Trump wants to use ice as his private military and put this across the us.

Also soon once it’s normalized, they’ll say “We need to expand ice! We have them in the airports so we need more back on the streets!” Suggesting that in the airports is now part of their standard duties. They’ll keep going until they’re everywhere

I see this as an absolute win. It'll create more jobs. An ICE agent on every block in every neighborhood in America. They can patrol 24/7 as well so that's even more jobs. This will make America extra safe so we can ban all locks on doors. Your local friendly ICE agent should be able to drop in your house any time they want. You aren't doing anything illegal so what's the problem? It'll be good to have random immigrant checks. Gotta make sure there aren't any unsavory people in the neighborhood. The random drop ins will also make sure there aren't any disparaging remarks against the glorious furher king. /s just in case people can't figure it out

Immigration enforcement has jurisdiction 100 miles from international borders. This doesn't just mean the land and sea ports either. It means airports. Take a guess how many airports are classified as "international".
ICE won't just be to keep "foreigners" out. They'll be used to keep us in. Remember in Handmaids Tale when they stopped women at airports from fleeing the country? Its gonna be like that. And they'll send people to RFK Jrs Super Happy Fun Time ADHD is a Myth Just Concentration Camps for Kids to "re-educate" them to be patriotic for glorious leader Trump.

> Fascism’s ideological and political formula may have been unique, extreme, and brutal but its drivers were (and continue to be) disturbingly commonplace, indeed banal. This explains why, in the midst of a profound crisis of liberalism and of a collective paranoia against the spectre of a socialist revolution, interwar fascism gained traction so quickly among people and elites across countries, regions, cultures, and political spaces.
> If fascism may indeed be ‘banal’ in this sense, as I will argue, then the fight against it needs to be refocused on the mainstream fundamentals that drive its ongoing appeal.

How would that even be possible? Even with trumps enormous expansion and hiring frenzy they have a total of about 22k employees (not just enforcement officers, but clerical staff, accountants, lawyers etc.).

They are hiring people who failed an open book test. They are scraping the absolute bottom of society and with the insane amount of money Republicans gave them, they can throw money around to continue recruiting. So sure, they don't have the numbers today, but they very well may have the numbers tomorrow. With that said, even with so few employees, they have already caused chaos. It's not unreasonable to assume they will continue causing chaos in growing numbers throughout the year.

I would imagine a few million at minimum, numbers rivaling that of the military. Time to wake up everyone. Project 2025 specifically calls for TSA to be disbanded and privatized. That’s the Republicans goal with this bullshit. There’s a reason shithead Mike Johnson refused to hold a vote despite bipartisan support to fund TSA. They want as many TSA agents as possible to quit. What’s the best way to get people to quit? Not pay them.
As TSA worker numbers plummet, Trump will claim that outside support is the only option - hence the privatization part. You better believe they’ll find some shitty newly formed or already corrupt company to fill that role, and Palantir surveillance will be part of their program. Republicans also want ICE agents to remain in our airports, which will be part of this as well.
Completely fucked up. Trump needs to be removed from office and imprisoned ASAP. Biggest piece of shit in American history.

I really don’t think this is indicative of some nefarious plot to takeover the airports, but rather another example of how ill-planned this administration is. He’s saying “we‘ll see” because neither he nor anyone else actually knows. They’re just playing it all by ear and making it up as they go.

The actual context
> We’ll see. It depends [on] how many TSA agents come back to work, how many TSA agents have actually quit and have no plans [on] coming back to work,” he told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.
I don’t think they’ll stay there long term, it’s not what they want to be doing (which is cosplaying tacticool spec ops while arresting hispanic grandmas)
The issue here is that hundreds of TSA officers have quit so even if they start to get paid again, there will be a huge gap in staffing.
1
JustTestingAThingMar 29, 2026

OK, but ICE isn’t trained to do pretty much ANY aspect of the TSA’s role. They can’t just slide in and do it seamlessly. And if you’re going to train them, just train new TSA instead…
3
suprahelixMar 29, 2026

I know, but training TSA still takes time and sometimes they just need bodies.

Training ICE takes time too, and it takes more than “just bodies” to operate the various scanning equipment TSA operates and to manage the logistics they do in each airport — what would they be doing that they can’t already?

They won't even have to put the VP in a car and have secret Service plan to drive them away this time.

It's HALARIOUS and just so ironic how when 9/11 happened the government ramped up so much security over Americans and millions of Americans who are now mostly MAGA became this "big brother is watching" conspiracy theorists. I mean they spent the better of 15 years pushing to uncover conspiracy theories against the government thinking its all the Democrats......Then the person who is probably the holy grail of conspiracy theories infiltrates their party sells them on so much bullshit and is now basically fulfilling what they feared would happen the most...and they STILLL DONT SEE IT, because they have been convinced that being pro American is NOW supporting your government. The anti-government people are now the government is always right.

I believe part of the reason trump finally got around to paying the TSA was that the rank and file ICE starting bitching.

Why should they leave? Airports are ports of entry. It will be good for security to have UCE replaced the TSA
I'll be sure to flip them all off when I have my trip in June.

They chose airports because there's no consequences for them there. There should be.

Tbh the TSA thing is actually a decent reason to train and deploy guardsmen temporarily and hey while we’re talking about cutting Feds (we were last year weren’t we? Oh wait we fired a bunch of career professionals instead) maybe we can vastly cut or sunset TSA’s mission altogether

Better in the airports than on the streets where they can do a lot more bad shit to innocent people.

See how they moved the goalposts on you. Now you’re seeing ICE in airports as the lesser of two evils.

No, I'm acknowledging that people who have the privilege of air travel are largely not the most vulnerable among us and it is better ICE wastes their time being shit security guards at airports than murdering and deporting innocent brown people.
ICE still must be abolished and every member put to trial.

The issue really is the creeping force of ICE becoming normalized. First it’s roaming the streets, then airports and then schools, voting polls and more. They should be rejected at every turn.

ICE is no different than every other fascist boot-stomper enforcement agency in this country, and those have been normalized since they were slave catchers. Fight against the entire injustice system, not just the newest branch of the tree.

Tom Homan was Obama’s ICE chief and give him a medal for his efforts in deporting over 5mil people during Obama’s 8 years

This dude is a huge improvement over his predecessor. Which isn’t saying much.
Doesn’t give a f*** about anything or anyone. The man has a job to do and he’s gonna do it per the boss’ orders no questions asked
There’s a certain honesty to him that I find refreshing. He ain’t pretending he’s doing any good, he has a fucked up job to do and he's gonna do it

So ICE was funded 16 times during the Obama and Biden administrations where they used ICE to deport over 7 mill people combined. So what do liberals want now, open borders forever, no vetting of anyone? Since Obama, Hillary , Bill all said that unfettered migration causes undue burdens on our social systems and then ramped up deportations using IcE that they funded. In fact all presidents have enforced immigration laws that both parties have passed, using immigration enforcement officers that both parties have funded. What does the left actually want in terms of immigration enforcement, non whatsoever? Do we close down customs at airports and just invite anyone in forever?

ICE has murdered US citizens and is setting up and filling concentration camps all over the country torturing women and children. We don't want that. Why do you?

What purpose is if for, and why did the do immigration work two years ago and now they don’t? Why didn’t Biden defund them?

Can you acknowledge that the funding levels, behaviors and actions of ICE have shifted between how they were during Obama's and Bidens terms and how they are during Trump's second term over the last year?

Possibly but I have no idea since I don’t work there. What is obvious is that there is more hysteria about it now. In 2015 there is a cnn video where reporters were accompanying ice into neighborhoods for detention and deportation raids and none of those left wing reporters were upset. There was no outrage.
