Hoping to talk to someone about the movie I just got to see :( (no spoilers).

Posted by obsessed_FF7lover

I tried to talk to my family about it when I came home, but all three of them ignored me for their devices. They didn’t even look up at me. The movie I went to to see tonight is project Hail Mary! I am currently getting my associates degree in biology and am currently in chemistry courses so this movie was shockingly up my alley. I have a huge fear of space, but this movie was just perfect in my eyes, 10/10 no notes. I was really surprised at how well done it was, how the acting felt so natural, how the movie ebbed and flowed with the past and present scenes, how amazingly the first interactions with the alien were portrayed. I had a blast watching it with my incredible partner, it now that we’ve gone home I was looking for other people to gush over the movie with while it’s fresh in my noodle :)

I'm so sorry your family ignored you :(. But, I'm always down to talk about movies. To quote YouTube film reviewer Sean Chandler: "I like to talk about movies way too much", so I'm down to chat about movies. I will say upfront I haven't seen Project: Hail Mary yet, but I really want to-- the crew making the film is stacked with talent from Lord & Miller to Drew Goddard, so I want to see it for their work alone. I've heard nothing but praise for the movie so far. Glad you liked it too!

:3 all good, tomorrows another day. I would 100% see it, it was worth every last penny spent. I haven’t felt so captivated or excited by a movie in a very long time. The praise isn’t overhyped in the slightest, it is truly a phenomenal film

Maybe spoiler alert, but I loved the scene where Grace decides to give up on going to earth, and decides to instead go save Rocky. Then Beatles 'two of us' starts playing as he sends the pods with all the needed info to earth, while he turns his spaceship back. That entire sequence is beautiful, made me tear up, something that resonates deeply with the type of person I am. Project Hail Mary is definitely going to be one of my top 5 movies for a long time!

I loved it! It was so unique and engaging. There are a few scenes where, looking back, I needed to suspend my disbelief, but I don't even care. It was a really good 2 1/2 hours - don't forget to pee first.

Yes the book is so good! I read it years ago so it's not so fresh in my noodle.   I loved how it actually went into some detail about the science behind it, and it was really well written (from what I remember lol). You should def read it :D

Im glad you enjoyed it!! And I’m so sorry that your family ignored you. That makes me sad. Though that’s great you had your partner to enjoy it with. Movies are one of my favorite things on earth but the best part to me is getting to talk about them after with people or share your excitement. I saw the movie the other day too and had a lot of fun! Have you watched many other contemporary sci fi movies like Interstellar or Arrival too?

It’s alright, some people just get dealt a bad hand. Life’s life. But I have my partner and friends and all these awesome folks online to gush about the movie so it makes up for it!! You definitely get it :3. I have watched Interstellar and Arrival! Though all three movies fill me with dread they are also so so so captivating and beautiful

Ive seen it twice! I went to a IMAX theater on opening night and also saw it in a 70mm theater near me, its one of my favorite books and Im so glad everyone gets to experience rocky now :) . If you liked the movie you should look into the production of it, they built the whole ship and a lot of the best scenes were practical! Fascinating to learn about

If you like the science aspect of the movie. I highly recommend reading the book or listening to the audio book. It goes way more in depth. It's in my top 5 favorite books. This is coming from someone that is planning to go to grad school for Astrobiology.

I saw it last week with my brother who read the book a while ago. He said the alien was portrayed just as he imagined. Also, *spoiler alert, don’t read further if you haven’t seen it* I saw a really weird thing in the theater. A couple was sitting right in front of us and, at the part where Ryland realizes he’s going to be forced into the mission and stands up to try to get away, the man of the couple starts laughing, hard, like it’s hilarious to him. It just struck me as so weird that at probably the most unfunny part of the movie he’s laughing like he just heard a knee slapped.

that’s wild your fam ghosted you like that, but so glad you loved the movie! the way they handled the alien interactions sounds really cool, it’s always a treat when a film nails those moments. let’s hear more about what you think!

Yeah not to sound like a Debbie downer but they do that to me a lot haha. I’m used to it but tonight it just stung a bit more since I was so excited. I think probably my favorite part of the movie was just… letting it unravel itself. I was always so excited to see some of the math or hear explanations for certain scientific theories or discoveries pertaining to the plot. The ending was just the cherry on top, it really felt like such a clean finish.
