I (23M) just left my 6-month contract job yesterday. I didn't like that job much too much since it's boring and kinda meaningless, the benefits also suck. Sometimes I wished my last day of work would come faster. Yesterday when I stepped out of office, I actually had mixed feelings. I knew I can take a rest and have more time to do what I like (I don't have any offer now, I would love some gap time between two jobs). I know I don't have to wake up at 7 next Monday (waking up early is a real torture). On the other hand I know I won't see my manager and colleagues who are all nice, caring and patient people again. I know I will never come back to that office which I stay 35 hours at. Anyone has similar feelings?
totally get that, bro. leaving a job you didn’t love but still having those connections makes it super bittersweet. enjoy the break, you earned it!

This is totally normal. Even if you hate a job in the future, you are likely to feel that way. It’s stepping away from the known into the unknown.

Leaving a job is kinda like graduation. I don't know what will come next, I don't know whether there will be assholes in my next workplace. That's also why I have mixed feelings.

People quit jobs all the time. You want to make sure you and tolerate or like what you do. It's normal to find new positions, most people stay in a job for a year or 2. I worked in an ER for 15 years. It was the best and worst job I ever had. Just remember a job shouldn't make you feel miserable.

I was in shambles. I'd worked there for ten years and they promoted me, didn't train me, and tried unsuccessfully to fire me a few times, so I quit. I lt hurt to know I wasn't good enough and it hurt more to know they didn't care about the years and years when I was. But better jobs, better employers, came in time.

Love the people hated the job. Was working hard but it came to a quick close sadly. Ran over my foot with an electric jack by accident and I had eye surgery next month so I decided it was quits. Geeking out over a girl as well but she had a boyfriend. Man I miss her but whatever.

I felt RELIEF. I remember devouring chick fil a in the sun and smiling lmao. My first full time job was as a registered behavior technician in an autistic kids clinic. I got paid $15 an hour and had 4 kids in total per day (2 hour sessions each). Each kid was different but the worst was when the kid had “accidents” and I had to clean them up. I lasted 4 months. The job was slowly eating me away and there were some good and bad moments but I genuinely just knew this wasn’t for me. It was so traumatizing and I got sick too often.

I feel bad for you just by reading what you typed. So glad that you left that toxic environment. Kids with special needs are too difficult to handle.

Totally feel you on this! It's always a weird mix of relief and sadness when you leave a job, even if you didn't love it. Enjoy that well-deserved rest and freedom from the 7 AM alarm

I quit my first real job just shy of 10 years with the company. I think it was easier because it happened during the COVID shutdown so I didn’t have the chance to say bye to many people. I made an effort to say bye to those I worked closest with but that was about it. I knew my family was moving on to better things so that also helped. The only thing that left me feeling uncertain was that I didn’t have anything lined up. It took me about 2 months to find another job so it wasn’t a real issue.
