Hey there!
I'm a Media Scientist and currently studying canon content one should study if they want to be taken serious. this includes shows such as Star Trek, Wakfu, Battlestar Galactica and, of course, Stargate.
But Battlestar Galactica seems to be dead? I couldn't find a proper way into it, the streaming service I am subscribed to exclusively hosts the russian dub for it and there isn't even a sublistnook for it?
So, can someone tell me where I should start? I am not looking for c**** entertainment, so I don't mind if it's "dated". All I care about is an objectively good show part of the Sci Fi video canon.
Media Scientists need people to tell them how to get into a show?

No, we don't. We just know it. One of my classes is actually called "How to get into canon Sci-Fi shows such as DS9 and BG"
i'm just too lazy to take it tbh

Are you talking about the OG or the modern reboot?

Classic is super dated and corny, but it is what led to the new series; the new series is likely a top 25 if not top ten TV serious of all time.
That depends on taste, and context; but is is for sure top 50 by any objective judge!

Do you wear a lab coat while watch shows?

I do wear a Labcoat and I do shake an Erlenmeyer Kolben while watching shows, yes. And I do pause every 5 seconds to dictate random observations to my text program in a strangely narcissistic voice tone.

It’s on Amazon. Watch the miniseries first, then the pilot episode 33. Enjoy

According to [justwatch.com](http://justwatch.com), if you are in the U.S. you can purchase all of the 2000s reboot on Prime or Fandango at Home. It is also available on blu-ray and DVD.
Keep in mind, the 2000s reboot starts with a mini-series then 4 seasons (I think?) as well as two or three tv movies. There may also be some webisodes.

In the US the 2004 BSG is available VOD on amazon. It doesn't appear to be streaming on any subscription service at the moment.
You might be interested that Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) is currently doing a rewatch show with her husband who hasn't seen it before. It's on youtube with longer episodes on her patreon.

Watch episode 1, then id recommend jumping to episode 2. Now after that, risk takers would skip to episode 3, but its your call.

Actually false information. The show, as I've learned, starts off with a Miniseries, often listed as EP 33.
Others Shows also do that, like Star Wars The Clone Wars which is a huge mess. The movie, for example, is in between S2 EP 16 and S1 EP 16, which are linked episodes followed by Star Wars The Clone Wars The Movie (good lord what a mouthful!)
Aka total chaos.
