How do you not let past humiliation stop you from becoming a better version of yourself?

Realize that no one is thinking about a humiliating thing you did nearly as much as you believe they are (if at all). Most people are too concerned with their own lives to notice or care about what you're doing, pursue what makes you happy and recognize that failure/humiliation is always the part of any process. No one achieved greatness without learning pains along the way.

>No one achieved greatness without learning pains along the way I don’t necessarily agree with that. Look at today, there are a slew of people in disgustingly powerful positions that barely understand struggle beyond complaining not enough people complimented them this morning.

This is a fair point. Though it begs the question of did those people actually "achieve" anything? Or were they just handed wealth due to their family status, which I'd argue is hardly an achievement at all.

We remember our own stumbles far more than anyone else does. Don't let a memory that others have likely forgotten hold your future hostage

I'm hit with waves of guilt often. I recite the lords prayer in my head and ask for forgiveness. This calms me and gives me hope.

My identity is not predicated upon being “perfect”; instead, it lets me focus on what I can do better now.

By simply not caring about people

When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

Hopefully the lesson isn’t “you’re a loser”

Knowing that even the humiliation could have been brought in my reality to help me become a better person. Everything happens for a reason.

And we all make mistakes. Just try to learn and grow.

We all make mistakes, no One should judge no One. I Mean thought the frist rock if you never made a mistake. As long as you learn and you are a better person. That is the most important factor! focus on who you are now and what your building in the present. And make sure each day you your doing your best!

Out of the comments what rings most true to me is that other people are paying little attention to what you’re doing or what you’ve done in the past. The biggest problem I have in this area is negative thinking. I imagine people in my life judging me or being blamed for something I didn’t do. I’ve recently started noticing when I’m doing it and say “no” to stop the thoughts. Thinking about humiliating situations is what keeps them in the front of your mind. Doing the thought stopping can help away.

I can’t change the past, but I can change tomorrow with better choices.

Why do you let it stop you? It starts with acceptance. Yes, that did happen. Yes, that was humiliating. Can't do anything about that. So, what's next?
