probably like 6 or 7 but I remember being so frustrated with it lol. My mom tried teaching me the bunny ears method but I kept gettting the loops all wonky and gave up for weeks.

I was probably five when I mastered the bunny ears method and felt like a total genius for about ten minutes. But let’s be real in 2026 manual shoelaces are becoming a vintage lifestyle choice because everything is magnetic or has a dial now. Our kids will probably treat tying shoes like calligraphy or manual transmissions a cool party trick that nobody actually needs for daily survival. It is one of those tiny milestones that used to mean "I am a big kid now" but now it is just an obstacle to getting out the door faster

Everyone has that one friend who can’t tie their shoes, right?

I was five when the "bunny ears" finally clicked and I felt like a NASA engineer. But honestly, in 2026, manual laces are becoming a vintage choice because everything is magnetic or has a dial now. Our kids will probably treat tying shoes like calligraphy a cool party trick that nobody actually needs to get out the door. It’s a dying art form at this point
