It’s winning back-to-back Guest Actor Emmys……for a drama series. (It’s been done with comedy.)

Wild that “guest” basically means “shows up twice and rewrites the record books.” They should put that stat in the FYC ads, voters love a little history-making narrative.

Tbf, he absolutely crushes it the 2x he's called upon each season. He did great as the "calm at the center of chaos" last season, especially considering his state the first time you see him in E1. I'm willing to bet he's going to absolutely kill it in the finale while talking to Robby. He's been in it just enough that you know his personality very well, but not enough that an emotional speech/advice is super predictive. He has a lot of past to pull from, combat or otherwise. If they wrote that scene well, which I feel is almost a given, Shawn will absolutely murder it and the emotional impact will land way harder.

Didn’t know he won last year. Congrats

TLDR: would be first actor to win back to back guest actor emmy. He'd be 6th actor to win multiple guest Emmys

For drama specifically.

>Only five actors in the guest drama actor category have ever won more than once: Patrick McGoohan for “Columbo” (1975, 1990), Ed Asner for “Rich Man, Poor Man” (1976) and “Roots” (1977), John Lithgow for “Amazing Stories” (1986) and “Dexter” (2010), Charles S. Dutton for “The Practice” (2002) and “Without a Trace” (2003), and Ron Cephas Jones for “This Is Us” (2018, 2020). Notably, no performer has ever won back-to-back [guest drama actor Emmys](https://variety.com/lists/2026-emmys-predictions/) for the same role. It is a lane Hatosy could create entirely for himself.

Very specific honor I suppose.

Not back to back though. This would be, theoretically, the first successive win of this type. A narrow superlative but even so, Shawn Hatosy and Ron Cephas Jones are welcome peers and a great sign for the quality of acting we are getting even in the guest spots

But someone has won it in back to back years and multiple have won it for the same role (including in 2/3 years). Congrats tho I guess

is this the next category fraud drama now that the bear fell off?

I was hoping Charles Baker would get an emmy nomination but He was in too many episodes to be considered a guest actor even if most of them were just him in the background. I don't think he would get a supporting actor nomination but it would be pretty cool. He crushed his role in season 2.

He was so good in Animal Kingdom. I wish I could handle medical gore so I could watch this show. I can watch horror movies all day long, but there’s something about realistic medical scenes that are just too much for me. Happy for him though and everyone who enjoys the show.

Pope became my favourite in the 6th season. Such a good actor

If you're looking for more of him, he's also fantastic in *Southland*.

Loved him since The Faculty. Happy to see him back

Omg that's him?!?

meggan_u Apr 13, 2026 +3
Yes! Do you remember how sad you were when he got taken over by those weird alien parasites? Glad to see he got help and ended up in the medical field.

thewizardgalexandra Apr 13, 2026 +1
He has ages SO WELL - I actually watched the faculty for the first time recently as was like "damn. Jocks are not my type - I don't get this at all" aha but dr Abbott? I get it!

Does it really count as being a gues actor if he’s been in 6 episodes this season and 5 last season? Sounds like he’s just a side/supporting character

monsieurxander Apr 11, 2026 +35
The Emmy criteria for guest is appearing in fewer than half the episodes. He has an advantage because The Pitt has more episodes than most prestige dramas.

Pardybro911 Apr 11, 2026 +12
*limps in with a cane looking like Ed Baldwin* back in my day…. Prestige dramas had 22… hell some had 24 episodes!

Well isn't a guest star literally somebody who isn't part of the main cast? How people are credited in a show for pay isn't the same as how viewers associate a character with it. He's credited as "special guest star" for all his appearances.

Not sure how he wins against Jeff Kober

Hatosy is awesome.  His role in Southland was phenomenal.  Hes quietly become one of my favorite tv actors

notthatgeorge Apr 12, 2026 +1
If you're on the show for that long, you're no longer a guest. I think the rules need to change
1
MHath Apr 15, 2026 +1
He appeared in a few episodes for two seasons. What would you define as guest?
1
notthatgeorge Apr 15, 2026 +1
One episode

Grahf88 Apr 11, 2026 -23
Has he even done anything this season?

KeyBreak6698 Apr 11, 2026 +8
Hello he is a police medic and was hurt. Do we pay attention

*he'll pay for it*

SoWrongItsPainful Apr 11, 2026 +12
He’s done more this season than last
12
friskyjohnson Apr 11, 2026 +14
And showed off his rockin' middle-aged bod.
14
tetoffens Apr 11, 2026 +3
I don't agree. He was a rockstar least season during the aftermath of the mass shooting. Roby was in a state of crisis and he was the most competent doctor throughout that.
3
SoWrongItsPainful Apr 11, 2026 +2
While true, he actually made an appearance multiple times mid season, compared to just the first episode and the last few of Season 1

This guy was the only reason to watch Animal Kingdom in its later seasons.
