What about this makes you think that Canadians fear China? Yes some Chinese-Canadian citizens or residents face persecution, or have their families threatened in China, but that doesn't scare us as a whole. Criminals of all backgrounds are everywhere in the world - Chinese or otherwise.

You just made up some things that I didn't say and are trying to scold me for it? F*** off.

It’s a lot easier to lie and bury your head in the sand than it is to accept that Canada has repeatedly put itself into precarious positions and now we are surrounded by unfriendly countries with no easy way out.  I feel a sense of despair for my country. Canada is scrambling and I’m not sure we will still exist after whatever war or political upheaval comes to pass. I’m aware that no country ever lasts forever but I don’t want to see Canada disappear in my lifetime

A modern nation ss big and resource rich as Canada disappearing within the span of let's say 100 is insanity.

If it makes you feel better, I am an American and I think my country will die out before yours.

Until y'all take the trans people who are gonna get put in death camps, I'm completely fine with it. It's the point I lost any respect for your people, every time I despair about my fate I just get laughed at and told to singlehandedly do the revolution myself.

Good reminder to Canadians that while our neighbours to the south are pretty awful at the moment, China hasn’t stopped being China either.

Xsiah 16 hr ago
We haven't forgotten what China is, and we won't forget what the US did to us. No need for a reminder.

Note that this is relatively recent, in the Biden era the Canadian sub was extremely skeptical of China. The Sinophilia is all downstream of Trump openly threatening to take Canadian territory and slapping tariffs at will.

honk_incident 22 hr ago +5
Yeah. After the crazy Trump stuff people tried to brush off all criticism towards CCP as US propaganda at first. Then people dialed it down to garden variety whataboutism.

Nobody stopped being suspicious of China, we just found someone who is causing more pressing issues for our economy and sovereignty.

It appears at least some of the people actually might be financial criminals?  https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/meet-the-mysterious-tycoon-at-the-centre-of-half-a-billion-in-b-c-property-deals People always say how much they hate it when people steal or scam hundreds of millions of dollars from ordinary people and then run off to another country to get away with it, but they also don't like when countries try to punish these criminals?

It's like when the US forced us to jail Huawei's CEO's daughter despite her not commiting any crimes under Canadian law. Later when China arrested 2 Canadian spies, people were up in arms...even after it was revealed that they were actual spies, and one of them successfully sued the Canadian government. Or how about the time the RCMP claimed China was operating police stations in Canada, until it turned out t be some Chinese senior citizen groups, who ended up suing the RCMP? The general public here is full of anti China propaganda brain rot. I don't expect them to do any critical thinking.

MumeiNoName 16 hr ago +10
You seem to care a lot about sueing as a proof of something , and you seem to be trying to make a point by bringing it up , but it doesn’t really mean anything. Go read the wiki article about Chinese overseas police stations
10
SecretBotAcc 15 hr ago -8
He sued specifically about being mislead to become a spy by his "friend", who was an actual spy. Our justice system agreed, since he won the lawsuit. Turns out both Michaels were spies, just like the Chinese said. What Canadian crime did Meng commit? Or do you like being used as a pawn by the US? Likewise in the case of the "police station" where it turned out to be a Chinese citizens club; they sued the RCMP and won Your sources: CIA brainrot propaganda; definitely known to always tell the truth. When do you reckon they'll find those WMDs?
-8
MumeiNoName 13 hr ago +10
I didnt say anything about the case about the spy. Overseas chinese police stations are a thing that exists for sure. Like, its a normal thing that people know about. Are you being naive on purpose? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_police_overseas_service_stations#Chinese_government_response go read the list. What you're doing by making a lot of noise about 1 specific instance is a distraction.

I find it interesting that there have been zero arrests made in Canada related to this issue whereas the US had made many.

> Chyna is still the bad guy . It's been like [a decade](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chyna#Death) since she died now, and while I never met her personally I don't see much evidence she was "bad", people generally liked her.

Can I just say, I don't care about US politics at all, you're all crazy, but..... How did you manage to miss spell a two syllable word? That's truly impressive 👏
26
glacialthinker 19 hr ago +10
There's also the single syllable word: *cue*, rather then "que" which isn't an English word. They could also be reaching for "queue" if they meant to say the bots and libs would be lining up. But what bothers me more is how they take the labels "liberal" and "conservative" and apply them very prescriptively. Like you're born one or the other and are expected to play into their puppet show accordingly.

Are the democrats that support China in the room with us right now? Or are you making up talking points to fight with yourself over?
