Anyone tired of seeing govt leaders use state run media for propaganda need to watch Hungary's new PM elect dress down their state run media live on their show. It was breathtaking.

For the record, because it might be a bit confusing, telex is an independent media platform who managed to survive for years despite the fidesz regime's best efforts and this video is a compilation of Magyar's appearance on national tv (m1) and radio (Radio Kossuth).

The Union just got a little stronger! The election in Hungary showed the world that there is still hope, almost like a shining light in all the darkness around us right now!

I believe the EU has gotten a lot stronger with a more democratic Hungary. I sincerely think any Hungarian that voted for Magyar should be proud that not only their own country will see more progress, but that the EU in general will flourish with a trusting and friendly Hungary.

It’s a lot less pro-Russia than Hungary under Orban.

I think Peter is better but how did they become “more democratic”? I feel like Viktor losing by vote shows it was already so, no?

Peter won the majority. He got 55% of the vote. How did he lose the vote?

I said he won?

Democracy improves when Hungary gets rid of state-controlled disinformation campaigns and other tricks Orban used to unsuccessfully rig elections

Because they think that a part of the world providing material support to Ukraine represents support for Ukraine?

Ah, so that was why Trump was so keen to prevent Orban being kicked out of office.

GardeniaFrangipani 1 day ago +17
Putin also wanted Orban in office. That says a lot.

Better than a facist wannabe dictator is such a low bar to pass, and yet so many parties all around the world are arming their voters with shovels... And yet, here we are. Better than a facist wannabe dictator. And we do need to celebrate it.

At the cost of repairing the Druzhba pipeline to continue the flow of crude oil from Russia to Hungary. That is what it cost Ukraine and listnook is celebrating it.

Hungary just chose new leadership and Ukraine needs to give them some time to get aways from Russian oil.

More to the point, I doubt Hungary will still be a big supporter of Ukraine. Like, they might not openly torpedo EU efforts, but I wouldn't expect too much more, at least until Hungary can get concessions from Ukraine for Hungarians living in Ukraine

wanderingpeddlar 2 days ago +17
Yeah russia's pipeline is not likely to ever function again. Ukraine has already demonstrated they will just keep on hitting it. Not much there for gains for russia. Ukraine on the other hand needed this aid package.

Hungary are years behind in letting go of Russian dependency due to Orban. Let's give them the time to find alternatives.

loki-1982 2 days ago +37
They already blew up a pumping station for it in russia

Madbrad200 2 days ago +10
The oil is tomorrow's problem. Ukraine is literally starved for money and cannot survive without it. It can survive with Russia getting an income boost.

2014, 2022, now 2026, got it, Ukraine can wait another day, oil is more important.

Madbrad200 2 days ago +8
For Hungary it is, and the loan is more important for Ukraine.

Are you still celebrating the EU existing in ww2?

Madbrad200 2 days ago +5
The EU didn't exist during ww2?

Indeed, but the guy I responded to thinks it did.
