He is not. He lost half his voters already and MP is not even in the parliament yet.
Half his base was bought anyway.
There is still a good chunk of fuckwits who would vote for him, but most wont even live to see the next election.

I think he meant that he's powerful because he's still, and always be, a puppet and a bum-licker.
I am sure a lot of his power evaporated simply because he's not a useful toy anymore, but he still *should* have connections and friends in high positions both within the country and internationally.
But, heck, I do hope they all tossed him out like a mangy mutt and don't give the fat traitorous dipshit the time of day. It's clear he's a weak-willed, money-hungry imbecile, and who'd want to have anything to do with that kind of guy if he's not useful?

> It sucks that this change is during global crisis created by trump
It's not just Trump. It's the *entire* Republican Party. They could stop him at any point, and actively choose not to. They are - *entirely without hyperbole* - a political group full of hatred, unchecked greed, pedophiles, grifters, religious zealots, and all the other worst traits humanity has to offer. They are running the entire United States government, dismantling what's left of their democracy, and successfully turning it into a fascist authoritarian regime.

Do we dare hope that this is the actual beginning of the end for this monster?
The "putin is done" crowd have been disappointing us for a looong time now. But I'd really, really like to believe it. Now more than ever. No single mind can ever grasp the true extent of the harm he's caused. Can we just be done with him already as a planet? Please?

It goes without saying that Putin is a dead man once Russia loses the war, which has been an inevitable outcome for quite a while now. However, it's a very slow process. The war will almost certainly last another full year, probably even longer, but things are escalating.
There are clear signs that some kind of uprising might be coming, such as the fact that propagandists are now openly criticising the war (which is illegal) on Russian national TV, and that the government is jamming the mobile internet inside Moscow itself under the guise of stopping drone attacks (when the only actual practical purpose is to make it harder for people to organise on the streets).
Combine the above factors with the fact that the Russian economy is now in such a bad state that the government actually has to admit things aren't looking great (since not doing so would be too big of a cognitive dissonance for the average Russian), and it's almost impossible for *nothing* drastic to happen. What exactly will happen and when? Who knows. I personally won't hold my breath for it, but I also won't be surprised when things do go down.

Depends on the timeliness. Extremely likely in 10 years Putin is out due to ɓiological reasons. Looking at trends, that he is literally isolated by FSO he might be too delusional for elites start planning coup. Maybe 1-2y. Russia can change very fast.
1
Plastic-Fox02935 days ago
+1
The whole world is changing fast. 10 years is a long time in these sorts of times. Opportunities to root the things that will affect the rest of the century are gonna be picked clean between now and then. We just gotta wait and see what takes root.

It was a election thing. Dont ask why they thought it would help them. Even if they won the court would have returned it (Fidesz is still in power in the end).
Edit: oh yeah, i forgot at some point they claimed it was money sent to Tisza from Ukraine :D
104
Ax3stazy6 days ago
+49
The money was leaving the country, from Hungary heading to Ukraine.
They claimed the money was for Tisza.
How? Why?
They also claimed Ukraine stole data from Tisza, while they also claimed they built the same database, why also claiming they support Tisza.
Fukin insanity

In the end they even claimed that the Twenty something years of IT guy working for Tisza was a Ukraine Spy that spied on them, while also Tisza is a puppet of Zelensky :D. It was just stupid asf.
20
Sorqu6 days ago
+32
The actual story about the IT guy is a lot wilder. It is a fine example how incompetent everything has become involved with the fidesz regime.
The IT guy is not twenty something, he is 19, and briefly did some IT work for Tisza and after that became a volunteer discord mod with the nickname gundalf. The Hungarian intelligence service tried to convince him to spy on Tisza. They tried to turn him with hookers and bribes and when that didn't work, they threatend him with treason. At this point someone actually competent from inside the service tipped him off and prepared him for interrogation, because he told the wildest shit, like jacked ukranian mobsters etc. and they belived him. When the story came out they leaked all the stuff gundalf said without fact cheking anything.
After that they tried to portray him as a pedophile, but one of the investigating officer (Bence Szabó) became a whistleblower and revealed that everything was just made up. He got fired the next day and an investigation started against him. He had a mortgage that was tied to his employement and had to pay back in like 2 weeks so his brother made a go fund me for 12500 euros. In three days they collected 900 thousand euros before closing it early. That just shows how fed up people were with fidesz. The surplus money is going to be donated to charity.
I guess his example gave courage to other service men, because not long after a military captain (Szilveszter Pálinkás) came forward telling us how Viktor Orbán's son was organising a military operation in Chad, to fight for Christianity and combat the imigrant situation with quotes like "We expect a 50% mortality, but that's the cost of becoming a combat ready military". Imagine him as one of those deranged televangelists you see in american television.
You can't make this shit up and this was all happening less than two weeks before the election. The hungary listnook was maintaining a scandal calendar and had to split the days up to morning, noon, evening, because we had so much shit coming out. If it had not been real life it would have been super entertaining.

Happens more often than you'd think.
Part of the reason that Iran agreed to the 2015 nuclear deal was [the release of around $100B in frozen Iranian assets](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_frozen_assets) (along with some reduced sanctions).
-11
IntelArtiGen6 days ago
+11
There's a difference with frozen assets. For example russian assets are currently frozen in Europe and it's totally justified. Countries can freeze assets if they think it's a threat for them to give back this money. The ukrainian cash & gold were just in transit in Hungary, and Ukraine is not a threat for hungarians, it wasn't justified and they didn't justify it this way because they know it's ridiculous.
Iran used these $100B to build all the missiles that destroyed refineries in gulf states, so it's hard to say it wasn't justified to freeze these assets. The same way we know by giving back the frozen assets to Russia they would reinvest it all in missiles to send on Ukraine.

Apparently the General who organized the seizure of Ukraine’s money died the same night. He “drowned” after hosting a private party for 150 at a lake side resort and wandered off.
-17
Nnarol6 days ago
+14
This is false. ~~organizer of the party was involved in the operation from the tax & customs office's part, not the officer who drowned~~. EDIT: It later came out that the one who drowned was a "key figure" in the operation too, although not in what capacity. There is no evidence pointing to anything else than him being drunk and unfortunately drowning, not even a suspicion of interests at play.
