Honest question to any Hungarians, has Orban even talked about Hungarian issues this election or has he just been laser focused on hating Ukraine and Zelensky?

Fordfff Mar 28, 2026 +530
>has Orban even talked about Hungarian issues this election Not one word. It's only MP (the opposition leader) bad, Ukraine bad, Zelenskij bad, Brussels bad and about how he and his party is the only thing standing between us and all out war. I mean pretty much all issues we have is the direct result of this piece of shit and his gang running the country into the ground in the past 16 years.

I hope you can oust him. I’ve been wanting to visit the country for years but this fool’s presence has put me off since I don’t like endorsing authoritarian governments in my travels.

I was in Budapest last year, it was nice because I didn't meet a single Orban supporter. I felt like I was in solidarity with the people of that city who are being held hostage by their government and the brainwashed rural voters.

Sounds familiar.

Littman-Express Mar 29, 2026 +3
I was there in 2019 and every guide I had talked about how bad and corrupt orban and the government were.
3
True_Window_9389 Mar 28, 2026 +26
But then again, that kind of works for these idiot populists. Making people hate and be fearful of the opposition can be a more powerful motivation than being in favor of something.

Draxxhu Mar 28, 2026 +4
Nothing about domestic policies. But that’s fair since they are really poor in governing the country

Do the Hungarian people favour Russia over Ukraine? Or is the purely political?
3
Fordfff Mar 28, 2026 +20
Political, but iirc thanks to the government propaganda, a significant portion like 40%, favours Russia. When year after year you are constantly bombarded with how Ukraine's bad, this is the result. If you ask why, then you get empty stares.

MasterBot98 Mar 29, 2026 +1
As a Ukrainian it makes me weirdly proud to be someone's boogieman, and it's very funny.

\> how he and his party is the only thing standing between us and all out war. Hey, the Georgian Dream strategy! No wonder they're best of friends :)
4
basszameg Mar 28, 2026 +2
I hope y'all can finally rid yourselves of Orbán and the Fidesz-KDNP supermajority this election.

I somehow get how he can say bad to those things, but Brussels? Which he actively chooses to be part of? Only he can get them out of it
2
DifficultCarob408 Mar 28, 2026 +2
Straight out of the right wing campaigning playbook!
2
zoley88 Mar 28, 2026 +51
Not at all. "Oops, it's all Brussels, Zelenskyy, Ukraine". On March 15, the country commemorated one of our greatest national holiday, Orban did not say the name of its greatest hero, Sándor Petőfi, at all. Only war, Ukraine and else.
51
AcrobaticKitten Mar 28, 2026 +37
Not really because every single topic was taken by the Tisza. Since they are in power since 2010, in case of every domestic problem the reaction is "you had 16 years to fix this dont tell me now you'll care in the next 4 years if you didnt care in the last 16" He needed to find external scapegoats to mobilize his voters against something. Those are EU and Ukraine.
37
totallyRebb Mar 28, 2026 +12
Since he has Putin's arm firmly up his ass, puppeteering .. probably not.

Cynical_Classicist Mar 28, 2026 +11
I'm sure that he's been stirring up the usual Douglas Murray c*** as well.
11
FinestOldToby Mar 28, 2026 +6
Huh?
6
Cynical_Classicist Mar 28, 2026 +8
He's a prominent British white supremacist who the right presents as a great intellectual. He and Orban endorse each others' lies.
8
FiftyKcal Mar 28, 2026 +3
Not a single word on domestic problems, since according to them, everything is going great and everything would be even better if Brussels and Ukrain was not "blocking" us. lol....
3
higgs8 Mar 29, 2026 +2
No, in fact he has not been talking about any issues affecting the county for many years now. Only Brussels and more recently Ukraine who "want war" and "want our money". While it is alienating a lot of people, a frightening number of people still just believe whatever he says. In interviews, people who vote for Fidesz seem like brainwashed propaganda machines. It's scary to witness regular people reciting completely illogical propaganda messages as if it was an obvious truth, it's exactly like arguing with flat earthers: no logic, no reason, just blind confidence.

I'm praying so hard that nothing bad happens during these 16 days. Like, he shall lose, but will he and Russia accept it?
336
drkTwrCnt Mar 28, 2026 +201
my guess is he won't. Those kind of people never want let go of power and he is also probably involved in some criminal stuff so beeing the leader is saving his ass right now.
201
-Paski- Mar 28, 2026 +85
If he does lose and thinks he can't save the situation, he will be on the first flight to Russia to join all of the other deposed leaders that they seem to be collecting
85
airship_of_arbitrary Mar 28, 2026 +11
Fascists love to pretend that they can't be voted out. But the number of fascists that have fled to Russia when they lose public support is pretty high.

Trump and MAGA influencers look to Orban as a role model. They should examine how Orban made Hungary poor while ending freedom. Does Trump and MAGA want the USA poor and without freedom?
24
Snakebird11 Mar 28, 2026 +18
Yes, they absolutely do. MAGA voters give no shits. Trump can piss in their mouths and convince them it's mountain dew, so they're willing to let people with brains suffer the same just to call it a win.

Same can be applied to Trump.

Yeh, that's the worry now. Authoritarians like Trump will just pedal the lies of stolen elections and the billionaire media will stir it up.

January 6th all over again. Especially cause taco pedo endorsed him
33
IntelArtiGen Mar 28, 2026 +8
Even if something bad happens I hope hungarians won't be influenced so easily. It's obvious that there is a lot at stake and that many people want to "influence" the elections.

Oh dear, is Putin's puppet finally feeling the heat? Good! The sooner Hungary is rid of him, the better.

He'll call the US gedtapo in. They are already sending their buffons in as we speak to do a January 6th on Hungary.

My guess is that OV will pull a Bolsonaro and will flee the country once they see that they've lost.

Well, Orban is pushing Putin's cart.
104
SamsonFox2 Mar 28, 2026 +9
I think I think it's Putin who's pushing Orban's something that's not a cart.
9
Crestina Mar 28, 2026 +44
Guess they should be pushing Russia's cart instead eh Viktor? Cause it's sure as hell not Hungary's cart your crusty old sell out ass is pushing.
44
ObviouslyRealPerson Mar 28, 2026 +48
May he follow in the footsteps of Nicolae Ceaușescu
48
YF422 Mar 28, 2026 +53
He accuses them of "pushing Ukraine's cart" yet all the while gargles Putin's balls and attempting to undermine Democracy in favour of Russian style rigged elections for his party. While it's not over until the fat Vatnik sings I do eagerly await seeing this treasonous piece of shit get wrecked and locked up if Hungarians can pull through for us all. The only one's supporting Russia at this stage are either traitors, parasites or regressive idiots. We need to make sure they're kicked out and never allowed near power no matter what country it is as they're all the same corrupt bastards ruining things for everyone.
53
ImpatientSpider Mar 28, 2026 +12
Attempting to undermine democracy? Dude is already inflicting harsh Hunger Games like deprivations on villagers that refuse to vote for him. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c36r0068xp2o >Local mayors exercise an iron grip over daily lives, providing work, firewood, transport to polling stations and, in one case, even access to medicine, in exchange for the "correct" vote on election day, according to claims made in the film.
12
YF422 Mar 28, 2026 +10
And one of the first things to happen on the removal of Orban and his friends should be prosecuting those said Mayors for corruption and having them locked up for a good long while.
10
Substantial_Milk8170 Mar 28, 2026 +54
Bro is mad about people 'pushing Ukraine's cart' while he’s literally riding shotgun in Putin’s. The projection is crazy.

Trump endorsing Orban is great imo since it's likley to have the opposite effect of what the orange pedo thinks it will

They had a few planned but they kept getting exposed ahead of time. Didn't stop the botnyet from spreading fake news about a fake assassination attempt. It's too unrealistic even for them. As if anyone could miss the giant toad.
2
SpatulaWholesale Mar 28, 2026 +14
He's saying that Hungarians who are opposed to him are *pushing Ukraine's cart?* Is he saying that like it's a *bad* thing? Because if Russia takes Ukraine then all that is learned is that Russia's imperialistic behavior *works*. So, who's next? Maybe Hungary. Supporting Ukraine is acting in your own best interests, long-term, while Ukrainians are the ones under fire, not you. This man is at best a fool. At worst a puppet.
14
butterslice Mar 28, 2026 +10
Solidarity with an oppressed neighbour is stupid in the eyes of evil people. They can't understand even the concept of empathy or solidarity because their brains only work on pure selfish greed.
10
DavidlikesPeace Mar 28, 2026 +3
Whatabout pure selfish fear?  Why would anybody want to trade Ukraine for Russia as an eastern neighbor? Russia, the former imperialist that has occupied Hungary for decades. Beyond empathy or morals, we should have basic common sense.

7
butterslice Mar 28, 2026 +3
I have a lot of family in conservative hungary and every single one of them is fully insane, and I'd even say kinda evil. The family drama is constant with everyone trying to screw each other in family business deals, even holding family ashes hostage and refusing in intern them until the family come together with a few thousand euros worth to build the hostage takers mother's monument. And every single one of them will talk your ear off about what a threat to society trans people are, how they all need to be locked away. How Putin is a great ally of Hungary and once their eternal enemy of Ukraine is crushed Putin is going to give Hungary a bunch of prime land (which was always hungary's sacred clay), how the first humans actually were Hungarians and all culture and civilization actually flows from hungary because evolution is a lie. How hungary is getting robbed and screwed by the communist EU, but also how orban is so smart for robbing the EU blind. They're just awful people.
