I asked my parent a random question and didn’t expect the answer to hit this hard

Posted by Hefty_Attorney2194

I randomly asked my parent: > “What is the story about your childhood you most want me to remember?” I thought it would be a quick answer. Instead they told a long story I had never heard before. It kind of made me realize how much of their life I actually don’t know. Most of our conversations are just normal everyday stuff, but this felt completely different. It made me wonder how many stories like that are just… sitting there, never really talked about. Has anyone else had a moment like this with their parents?

My elderly mother and I would swim together in our pool. She had many stories. I have started telling my grandchildren stories because now I am elderly.

that’s really nice. I like that it kind of carries on like that, from her to you and now to your grandchildren. must feel special to be able to pass those stories along
