I had almost no bar set as far as expectations go. Nearly every other adaptation of “The Office” other than the original and the US has failed but right from the pilot this version gets nearly everything right.
I think it stems from the fact that the lead Fernando Bonilla absolutely nails the inept, completely inappropriate boss character but they still let you see tiny bits of a character to root for.
The show borrows lightly from its predecessors but it is very much its own thing. I rarely gush about a show but after being underwhelmed by the Paper, this just hit so good i binged the 8 episode season 1 in one sitting.
It’s on Amazon Prime in Mexico. I used a VPN to watch but I’m hoping the word of mouth spreads on how good it is and they show it somewhere in the US. Definitely recommend.
I often find subtitles don't work as well for comedy, as pacing and inflection get lost in translation. Thoughts?

Can you get that with the dialogue on?

As a mexican, i can Say that while it's a good adaptation with very good mexican jokes, the actors kinda suck, most of the time they sound like they are reading from a page, they can't even laugh believably.
The leading role should be a really good actor, in my opinión, but I just can't get into his acting. A few of the supporting characters are a little better.
My wife, who is watching it told me to give it time, just like the office us season 1 is kinda hard to watch, this one may improve if there's a second season.
It has lots of potential.

The German version was pretty good too. It is called Stromberg and the German boss, the Stromberg of the title, is as bad as the original David Brent

I loved it. I couldn't get through The Paper, but I also watched La Oficina in one weekend.
