>One GOP senator, granted anonymity to speak candidly, summed up their feelings: “I just want to go home.” So do a lot of people stranded in airports, or stuck on amphibious assault ships steaming towards the Persian Gulf. Do your f****** jobs, assholes.

dbkenny426 Mar 26, 2026 +176
Not to mention those being held in concentration camps.

ComplexTomatillo6278 Mar 26, 2026 +19
I want to up vote this 1,000x!
19
Windrunner17 Mar 26, 2026 +30
So many of our leaders are so f****** pathetic, it’s insane.
30
TubbyFatWombat Mar 26, 2026 +16
Maybe that one GOP senator needs to quit? If they don't want to do the job then quit.
16
Jellyfizzle Mar 26, 2026 +5
Really? I just want you go to the Dr.

If every citizen in the United States is suffering, it is only right and proper that those leading it suffer along with everyone. Put on your big boy / girl pants.

I feel awful for TSA agents, but Dems are in the right on this one 110% and need to stand strong on it unlike they did with BBB. The reforms for ICE are common sense and make complete sense unless you are a fascist lover (hint: Republicans are). If it means complete chaos at the airports, so be it, that is Republicans mess and they can lay in it.
253
RobertoPaulson Mar 26, 2026 +88
Its not just TSA. All DHS civilians are either furloughed or working without pay. I’m lucky enough to have savings to fall back on. But some of my fellow Coast Guard civilians are really starting to struggle. That said I hope the Democrats stay their course and don’t fold like usual. Everybody outside the cult knows who’s responsible for this.
88
YouShallNotPass92 Mar 26, 2026 +25
Yep, I know. Forgot to mention everyone else hurt by this. But I do think the airport situation is going to hopefully cause the GOP to crack. Once enough rich people complain and the general public gets more pissed about it, they are backed into a corner. Dems have literally nothing to lose right now.
25
ConfusedInKalamazoo Mar 26, 2026 +21
And let's not forget Dems are willing to fund the rest of DHS and resolve ICE funding and reforms separately. Republicans are the ones holding the government hostage.
21
Bittererr Mar 26, 2026 +43
>Dems are in the right on this one 110% and need to stand strong on it unlike they did with BBB. The BBB got zero democratic votes, not even Fetterman.
43
DunAnOir Mar 26, 2026 +41
And then Chuck decided "meh, whatever" and here you are.
41
UghFudgeBwana Mar 26, 2026 +25
The fat ugly Bill was passed through Reconciliation with Vance as the tie breaker. In that case there really wasn't much the Dems could do.
25
Popping_n_Locke-ing Mar 26, 2026 +5
This, thanks for setting the record straight.
5
YouShallNotPass92 Mar 26, 2026 +6
Yes, this is my point.
6
ahundredpercentbutts Mar 26, 2026 +1
Incorrect, you might be thinking of the previous shutdown.

They got the promised vote in the Senate and it failed as everyone expected it would. The house never promised to vote and never held one.
7
Responsible-Corgi-61 Mar 26, 2026 +15
I recall that one of the demands was, "no warrantless searches" which boils my blood the Dems phrase it that way. ITS ALREADY F****** ILLEGAL TO ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHOUR  A PROPER WARRANT. I'm glad they are holding the line, but God is it still so weak that they didn't go for the full shutdown.
15
DeftCoast Mar 26, 2026 +33
They are not sending their best… to congress.
33
FeelingPixely Mar 26, 2026 +19
Don't worry, Mike Johnson will send them home for the week.. maybe two.. maybe a month.. after only a few hours.
19
Unfair_Web_8275 Mar 26, 2026 +19
It's always impressive that the Republican party, who have now been presided over the two LONGEST government shut downs in our nation's history, find ways to blame the Democrats for this. As of now, the Democrats have offered to fund the TSA **9 times**.
19
Shadow293 Mar 26, 2026 +38
Shut it all down. I feel bad for everyone affected, but this is the only way to make the blissfully ignorant folks wake the f*** up. People only care when they’re personally affected.
38
lordfili Mar 26, 2026 +39
I mean, they can override a veto of any of the bills to fund the DHS ex-ICE if they were so inclined. They aren’t so inclined.
39
SnootSnootBasilisk Mar 26, 2026 +15
Hold on, let me get my tiny violin for you!
15
NoMayoForReal Mar 26, 2026 +12
F*** you, you want to go home, then stop voting with your other GOP a****** colleagues. What a piece of shit.
12
Pro_Gamer_Queen21 Mar 26, 2026 +20
“I just want to go home” Yeah? And I just want a job in my industry and my degree to finally mean something, but we can’t all get what we want now can we? So how about for once in your goddamn life do your f****** job that we all voted for you to f****** do **correctly** and stop crying like a little b****.
20
JohnHenryMillerTime Mar 26, 2026 +8
Reminds me of the Deepwater Horizon disaster where the poor executive just wanted some peace and quiet at a horse race.
8
tackle_bones Mar 26, 2026 +7
Not once in this entire article did it mention that Trump shut down the agreement brought to his desk and said he wouldn’t sign anything except SAVE. The article quotes a GOP senator saying it was Dems that reneged on the agreement after that meeting, but that is patently besides the point. The agreement was brought to Trump, Trump said no, they have yet to come to an agreement otherwise, and the GOP says Dems reneged. There is an important step missing to this story, then they end it with a lie.

Pump_and_Magdump Mar 26, 2026 +17
~~That's~~ Best not try to fly Delta then. You'll never make it through the security line.
17
mobileKixx Mar 26, 2026 +12
I never made it through your first sentence.
12
Pump_and_Magdump Mar 26, 2026 +8
Yeah, voice recognition error I did not catch. Fixed it.
8
Sea_Working_80 Mar 26, 2026 +5
Piss off.Stay until its done.Thats why we elected you jagoff
5
DunAnOir Mar 26, 2026 +5
Yeah no, f*** you, you don't get to go home until you fix what you broke. Every one of them is complicit, Trumpist or Democrat.
5
Bittererr Mar 26, 2026 -53
It's not appropriate to keep Congress in DC all year, a big portion of their job requires them to be back at home in their districts and depriving them of that time working in their home office deprives their constituents of representation.
-53
LivingIntelligent968 Mar 26, 2026 +39
Did you write that with a straight face.
39
Bittererr Mar 26, 2026 -45
Yes? Have you, like, never contacted your representative? There's a reason they spend a significant portion of the year in their home state.
-45
Confu2 Mar 26, 2026 +34
They’re not talking about coming back to their districts to work. They are talking about going on vacation for 2 weeks. Big difference. It’s pretty shitty going on vacation for 2 weeks when your inability to do your job is causing airports to meltdown and thousands of people to work without pay.
34
Bittererr Mar 26, 2026 -32
There's zero indication of this in the article. A recess is not a vacation, it's an opportunity to do the other half of their job in their home state. They will definitely get the federal holidays off, but they get the federal holidays off when they are in DC too.
-32
LivingIntelligent968 Mar 26, 2026 +23
There’s a war, employees not getting paid, no meaningful legislation passed so far this year. Vacation or time away from doing their jobs in DC should not be an option.
23
Bittererr Mar 26, 2026 -4
If they spend all of their time in DC they are equally useless as if they spent none of their time in DC. Their jobs as representatives require doing both halves of the job.
-4
OkProfessional6077 Mar 26, 2026 +11
I understand what you’re saying in normal times. However, them being home meeting with their constituents means nothing if they go back to DC to then do nothing. They aren’t passing laws, they aren’t balancing budgets, they aren’t working together to fund the government, they are allowing the Executive branch to take more and more power away from the Legislative branch.
11
ChanceryTheRapper Mar 26, 2026 +1
So if they do the DC half of their job, they can leave. They aren't doing that right now.
1
LunaLovesly Mar 26, 2026
Now you understand why they asked if you've ever contacted a rep right because you're fully relying on this article telling you basic shit that everyone has seen for decades. Republicans aren't even meeting with their constituents anymore yet you say this with a straight face.
0
Officer_Hotpants Mar 26, 2026 +3
I've contacted my representative's voicemail plenty. Who is being deprived of representation? Congress has abdicated all of their responsibility to the executive branch already.
3
Status_Commercial509 Mar 26, 2026 +2
Surely you realize that there has to an exception in an extreme circumstance like this.
2
37GreaterThan4547 Mar 26, 2026 +2
Is all the airport ice melting?
2
Extreme_Medium_1439 Mar 26, 2026 +1
DHS employees just want to be paid!
1
Horror-Primary7739 Mar 26, 2026 +1
F*** the SAFE act and everybody but the goons at ice get paid.
1
ZGadgetInspector Mar 26, 2026 +1
Think of how much CO2 we can keep out of the atmosphere if we can shut down the useless air travel! We have Zoom now. No one *needs* to travel.
1
FosterFl1910 Mar 26, 2026 -44
Why is it ok for either party to hold a segment of the population hostage to score political points? Four hour wait time again at my local airport. I’m just left with hatred for everyone in the government. Privatize TSA and get it away from the government.
-44
Mountain_Reveal7849 Mar 26, 2026 +26
Funny, that's exactly what the Republicans and oligarchs want is to privatize TSA. What a coincidence.
26
Healthy_Intention_92 Mar 26, 2026 +16
Notice how whenever it's clearly Democrats' fault, they're happy to call it out, but if it's clearly Republicans' fault, they generalize the blame towards 'the government'...? Funny that.
16
SquidmanMal Mar 26, 2026 +6
Every f****** time.
6
Unfair_Web_8275 Mar 26, 2026 +2
It's important we recognize the language being used, thanks for bringing that up.
2
FosterFl1910 Mar 26, 2026 -39
I’m sorry if I don’t like showing up at the airport at midnight to catch a 7am flight just so you can own the republicans. Can’t you figure out some other way to own them?
-39
ShrikeTrike Mar 26, 2026 +28
Republicans could just vote to fund TSA, but they’ve refused to do so the last seven times it was brought up. That seems like the easiest solution to me.
28
FosterFl1910 Mar 26, 2026 -28
Yeah they’re both holding airline passengers hostage. But we have no say in what the madman in the White House does. We’re just collateral damage and it sucks.
-28
ShrikeTrike Mar 26, 2026 +32
I just want to be clear here: Dems have, seven times, said “let’s fund TSA so airport shit doesn’t get bad.” The GOP, seven times, has said “we don’t care if the airports get bad.” This is strictly a GOP issue.
32
Unfair_Web_8275 Mar 26, 2026 +3
I think they're up to nine times now.
3
FosterFl1910 Mar 26, 2026 -10
I didn’t blame a specific party, I’m blaming the system that allows this. You don’t see this c*** in other countries.
-10
DeceptEmotiCon Mar 26, 2026 +16
Not blaming the party that is causing this is why its not getting fixed.
16
FosterFl1910 Mar 26, 2026 -1
All everyone does is blame. Trump and the republicans have the lowest approval rate ever. Doesn’t fix the airport lines.
-1
ShrikeTrike Mar 26, 2026 +6
They have the power to, this very second. They’ve chosen not to, and continue to do so.
6
VioletPaissa2077 Mar 26, 2026 +5
We are seeing the consequences of voting a bunch of corrupt clowns into office who have no intent to do their jobs in good faith.  All they care about is power, money, and creating enough chaos that the oversight mechanisms they haven't managed to capture or dismantle can't keep up.
5
LunaLovesly Mar 26, 2026 +1
And you think pretending that it's not republicans doing this to push more of their fascism will make things better? Just smile for Daddy and maybe he'll stop hurting us.
1
SquidmanMal Mar 26, 2026 +5
What's it like going through life and being so deluded and dishonest to where any time it's clearly one person/group's fault, you can just bury your head and say 'both sides' Is it blissful? Is it happy? I legitimately wonder what it's like to be free from the burden of rational thought.
5
FosterFl1910 Mar 26, 2026 -2
I clearly said we’ve been blaming republicans and their approval rate is the worst it’s ever been. What’s it like with no reading comprehension? Is it blissful?
-2
SquidmanMal Mar 26, 2026 +5
I see, not gonna give an answer, they never do. Oh well.
5
LunaLovesly Mar 26, 2026 +2
Yes and we're simply clarifying that in that system there are two parties. The Dems have tried to fund it multiple times while republicans have blocked it. Don't worry I'm just clarifying. You understand.
2
Healthy_Intention_92 Mar 26, 2026 +8
This isn't about "owning the Republicans"; They're trying to fund TSA while leaving out the extra funding for Trump's gestapo (who are already obscenely over funded.) Republicans have blocked funding for TSA seven times in the last month and counting because *they're* the ones throwing a hissy fit.
8
VioletPaissa2077 Mar 26, 2026 +5
Republicans have all three branches and have rejected multiple funding bills so Trump can hold airports hostage to force the SAVE Act through.
5
DinerEnBlanc Mar 26, 2026 +3
lol own republicans. Thats all you think about huh? Whose side is winning, not the fact that the Dems have tried to push funding TSA through separately. Who’s holding the funding hostage by bundling it with a bunch of other shit that will destroy the US? Not the Dems.
3
DinerEnBlanc Mar 26, 2026 +6
You’re mad that you had to wait 4 hours so your solution is to privatize it? Lmao
6
Unfair_Web_8275 Mar 26, 2026 +2
The Democrats have offered to fund the TSA about 9 different times.
2
LunaLovesly Mar 26, 2026 +1
Because ice is a fascist arm of this child rapists regime that must be stopped. Republicans refuse to fund DHS unless Dems have to the fascism. Why don't you place the anger in the right spot. Republicans could vote to end this anytime and hold off on ice talks for later.
