I liked Euphoria s3 premiere

Also posted in r/euphoria Changing aesthetic or tone doesn’t mean a story is losing itself. Euphoria is always been considered prestige TV because of its themes, perspectives and character’s feelings representations, also capable of knowing the general mood of the newest generations. I also was scared of what the new episode was going to be. But what I found was actually Euphoria, the show I knew and loved. This time, is not the teenage feeling of being lost that is trying to represent, but instead (imo) the feeling of being on the verge of becoming ad actual adult, having to make life chooses that are more deep that just “what am I going to do with my life” but something more existential – this season conflict seems to be about hedonism vs peace – and it’s a type of perspective about becoming adult that I personally don’t see so much in Tv. Also: good writers know that mood, aesthetic, and tone of the story comes after, cause they need to adapt to what the story is actually trying to tell. And as far as I’m concerned, Euphoria is still trying to tell something.

I thought it was fine, not as bad as people make it out to be and still interesting enough for me to watch next week as well. Nate feels a bit out of character, but then again interacting with adults more and running a business probably made him more human I suppose.

Despite the radical tone shift the show is still interesting to watch. People who invested in the first two seasons are going to want to see how this last one plays out for better or worse. Euphoria is a show where your best bet is to just not read online comments on (ironic statement I know). People online have had a big up their ass about it since the very first episode. I saw the comments on the weeks ahead trailer on YouTube and it was some of the most unhinged assumptive shit I’ve ever read in my life.

I really enjoyed it too. I can understand the very real gripe of characters and tone dramatically shifting (compounded by change in composer and the time-jump) but it feels like the kind of trashy, asthetic exercise that Spring Breakers was and that, for me, is a huge plus

I also enjoyed the first two episodes that have been shown. Since some actors left and others tragically died during the wait of season three I liked that season three has left a space between high school and adult life. For me, I felt like the characters were too extreme in their personalities to be in high school when it first played out. I still enjoyed it and I loved the dark tone vibe that it showed but it didn't always felt realistic at start. Maybe it's a cultural difference between Sweden where I'm from and the US but the characters seemed to have so much confidence for being in high school. It felt like some things they do come later in life for bad and worse but everyone in the show had a depressing and extreme story behind them. I like season 3 because it still has the best actors left, the story takes place in their mid 20's which feels more accurate towards how they look age wise but it still has a cinematic vibe that still makes you want to find out what happens in the next episode..
