I love how my husbands heart rate slows down when I hug him in his sleep

Posted by Acceptable-Bed3686

I’m 19 weeks pregnant with our hopefully first earth-side baby & so I deal with insomnia while my husbands usually in deep sleep. I cuddle up to him a couple times throughout the night and every time I do, his heart rate instantly slows down to a nice calm pace. I know this is some basic science thing happening but it feels heavenly to experience. Like we are really one

I try to be everyday! He’s let me stay home since my recurrent miscarriages & works his butt off everyday for us. It’s truly the least I can do for him, he deserves the world

Im so sorry for your loss, I know it’s a lot to go through & is one of those things that doesn’t leave you fully. Take care of yourself please & give yourself so much grace in this time. No one understands til they understand which can be really hard but know you are valid in all your feelings about it. I hope you can come to find hope again, no matter how long it takes. After so many losses, I didn’t think I could carry but here I am in my second trimester with a seemingly healthy girl

Thank you. Your story gives me hope. My heart is broken right now. Hoping to glue it back together somehow. The cracks will still be there, always a part of me. Hopefully can paint them gold like that Japanese method for fixing broken objects.

Read the other day how a woman's touch literally affects a man's hormones/chemicals. My unfortunately ex-fiancée once called me (hadnt seen each other in years) a video call and I could not believe how it felt like someone took over me and my heart started racing with excitement...

Yeah, there’s actually real biology behind that. Physical and emotional connection can trigger things like dopamine and oxytocin , so what you felt wasn’t just in your head, your body genuinely remembered that bond. It's kind of wild that how even after years, a single moment like this can bring everything rushing back

I love cuddling with my husband but he snores and constantly wakes me up on top of my insomnia while pregnant so we sleep separately :(

Oh I see, I'm sorry for you for those experiences, I have watched some coworkers go through those heartbreaks in recent times and it can be so rough. I hope this baby indeed comes out earth side. <3 (I probably read too much sci-fi since my first thought was that the alternative would be space-baby.)

Imagine i was talking about space babies lmao, that’s a great thought. Thank you for your condolences though, that is very kind :)

Yeah, with Artemis 2 being all over the news, space was my first thought too. And I was a little confused.

That's actually really cool - are you using like an Apple Watch or something to track his heart rate? My wife noticed similar stuff when she was pregnant but we never had the data to back it up. There's definitely something to the whole nervous system sync thing between couples, especially during pregnancy when all those hormones are doing their thing.

This is so cute. Reading it, I felt calm wash over me. Sometimes my husband has nightmares and will groan in sleep. I wake and embrace him and he relaxes. Just thinking about it is so soothing, I think I will try it next time panic strikes. Blessings upon you and yours.

This is honestly one of the most beautiful, quiet kinds of love. There’s something so deeply human about how our bodies respond to the people we feel safest with , like his heart recognizes you, even in sleep, and lets go of everything. The fact that you notice it, and cherish it, makes it even more special.

My husband does this for me. I was incredibly surprised the first time I needed those extra cuddles and it actually helped and I wasn’t gaslighting myself into thinking it helped haha.

Sadly, I have nobody to share my bed with. I was cheated on by my girlfriend, as I was a straight man back then. Today, I identify as genderfluid, nonbinary and asexual. I have practically forgotten what it is like to be in love. It is as though I was castrated. But still I experience loneliness. So, I went to a thrift store and bought a rag doll. Now I used stuffed toys to replace real people, because I haven't found a cuddle partner. Also, I am an abuse victim, so the doll gives me comfort. If you're a lonely adult, it's okay to have a stuffed toy and cuddle with it. You can even talk to it. That's what helps me. Hope it works for you.

This is the kind of thing people talk about when they say feeling at home with someone. Simple but hits deep.
